Abstract

Drought is a recurring hydrometeorological disaster that poses a serious threat to agricultural productivity and food security, particularly in rain-fed agricultural regions of Indonesia’s northern coastal areas. Tambakboyo District, Tuban Regency, is characterized by high dependence on seasonal rainfall, limited irrigation infrastructure, and fluctuating climatic conditions, making it highly vulnerable to agricultural drought. This study aims to analyze the spatiotemporal patterns of agricultural drought in Tambakboyo District during the period 2020–2025 using the Normalized Difference Drought Index (NDDI) derived from Sentinel-2 satellite imagery. Sentinel-2 Level-2A surface reflectance data from September to December for each study year were processed to calculate the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI), which were subsequently combined to generate NDDI values. Drought severity was classified into five categories ranging from normal to very severe drought. The results indicate a consistent seasonal drought pattern, with drought intensity beginning to increase in September, peaking in October–November, and declining in December with the onset of the rainy season. The most severe drought conditions occurred in 2022, when 68.5% of the district area experienced severe to very severe drought. Spatial analysis revealed that Kenanti, Gadon, and Plajan villages were persistently identified as drought-prone areas throughout the study period. These findings demonstrate the effectiveness of NDDI for monitoring agricultural drought in rain-fed farming systems and highlight its potential application for drought mitigation planning, early warning systems, and sustainable water resource management at the local scale.

Abstract

Excessive or continuous loading above 80% in distribution transformers leads to elevated hot-spot temperatures, accelerated insulation degradation, and a reduced service life. Under standard design assumptions, distribution transformers have an expected operational lifespan of approximately 30 years. At PLN ULP Sumba Jaya, three transformer units (A, B, and C) operate at loading levels exceeding 80%. A modeling-based approach is employed to mitigate accelerated aging and to enhance reliability and asset management in the distribution network. Three distribution transformers (A, B, and C), each rated at 100 kVA, were operated on the same feeder. The implemented modeling approach predicts load growth and the associated loss of life. Transformer A exhibits a relative loss of life of 19.87%, corresponding to an aging rate of 4.77 hours per day and an estimated remaining lifetime of 13.22 years. Transformer B shows a higher relative loss of life of 24.29%, with a daily aging rate of 5.83 hours, resulting in a remaining lifetime of 11.36 years. Transformer C experiences a relative loss of life of 14.39%, equivalent to 3.45 aging hours per day, and retains an estimated remaining lifetime of 15.13 years. The results indicate that sustained overloading accelerates transformer aging, while the use of data-driven modeling enables faster and more effective estimation of the remaining service life without reliance on complex and costly direct testing, thereby supporting timely maintenance actions such as load balancing or the installation of additional distribution substations to extend the transformer’s operational lifetime.

Abstract

This study examines the evolving representation of women on social media and its influence on contemporary social interaction. As digital platforms increasingly shape public perception, social media has become a powerful space where images, narratives, and algorithm-driven content contribute to the construction of women’s identities in online environments. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this research synthesizes 25 peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2020 and 2025, selected based on inclusion criteria that emphasize relevance to women’s representation, gender discourse, and social interaction within digital platforms. The selected studies focus on empirical and theoretical discussions of visual portrayals, online discourse, and algorithmic influence in social media contexts. The analysis explores how visual representations, patterns of engagement, and platform exposure affect gender relations and broader social behavior. The findings indicate that social media functions as a double-edged sphere. On one hand, it enhances women’s visibility, autonomy, and participation in public discourse, providing opportunities for self-expression, advocacy, and empowerment. On the other hand, it continues to reproduce restrictive gender norms through the circulation of idealized beauty standards, objectification, and the commodification of female identity. These representations significantly influence how audiences perceive and interact with women both online and offline. Furthermore, algorithmic systems often reinforce such portrayals by prioritizing content aligned with engagement-driven metrics, thereby perpetuating dominant stereotypes. Despite these challenges, digital platforms also facilitate the emergence of counter-narratives and supportive communities that challenge traditional gender roles. Overall, this study highlights the importance of digital media literacy and platform accountability in fostering more equitable, diverse, and inclusive representations of women in the digital age.

Abstract

This research aims to design and implement an innovative small-scale power generator prototype that utilizes wasted mechanical energy from daily human activities. The focus of this development is to convert foot pressure into sustainable alternative energy. Technically, this system adopts the concepts of electromagnetic induction and the piezoelectric effect, which can convert the kinetic energy of human body weight into electrical energy based on the principle of the law of conservation of energy, which states that energy cannot be destroyed but only converted from mechanical energy to electrical energy. The average voltage generated by a 45 kg person is 6,93 volts, capable of lighting an LED lamp for 0.5 seconds. This prototype is built using a series of piezoelectric sensors strategically configured under the foot platform. Because the energy output of piezoelectric components is alternating current (AC) with unstable fluctuations, the system is equipped with a bridge rectifier circuit to convert it to direct current (DC). The current is then stabilized and stored in an energy storage capacitor before being distributed to an electronic load. As a demonstration of the system's functionality, the collected energy is used to power an LED lamp. The results of this research are expected to serve as a reference in the development of energy harvesting technology that can be widely applied in public areas with high pedestrian traffic.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between job satisfaction and Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) among employees working under a hybrid work system. The increasing implementation of hybrid work arrangements presents unique challenges related to communication, collaboration, and employee engagement, which may influence employees’ discretionary behaviors at work. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The sample consisted of 134 hybrid employees from various industrial sectors in Indonesia, selected through online questionnaire distribution using an OCB scale developed by Aisyia (2009) and a job satisfaction scale adapted from Oktavian (2024), which was based on Gultom et al. (2020). Data analysis was conducted using the Spearman Rank correlation test due to the non-normal distribution of the data. The results indicate a positive and significant relationship between job satisfaction and OCB (ρ = 0.688; p < 0.05), suggesting that higher levels of job satisfaction are associated with stronger voluntary behaviors that support organizational effectiveness. Job satisfaction contributed 47.3% to the variance in OCB, while the remaining variance was influenced by other factors not examined in this study. These findings highlight the crucial role of job satisfaction in fostering extra-role behaviors among employees in hybrid work environments. The study provides empirical evidence that maintaining employee satisfaction remains essential despite reduced face-to-face interaction in hybrid settings. Therefore, organizations implementing hybrid work systems are encouraged to focus on strategies that enhance job satisfaction to promote positive work behaviors and sustain organizational performance.

Abstract

Care for children in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a stressful experience not only for the child but also for parents. The complex PICU environment, the use of advanced medical equipment, and the child’s critical condition can affect parents’ emotional, psychological, and spiritual well-being. Therefore, a deep understanding of parents’ experiences during their child’s care in the PICU is essential as a foundation for implementing family-centered care (FCC). During PICU hospitalization, parents strive to balance anxiety and hope, with clear and empathetic communication from healthcare professionals identified as a primary support need. This study aimed to explore parents’ experiences during their child’s care in the PICU. A qualitative descriptive design was employed. The participants consisted of five parents (three mothers and two fathers) whose children were treated in the PICU. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis. The analysis identified six main themes: strong emotional reactions when the child was first admitted to the PICU; parents’ feelings of role loss during the child’s hospitalization; nurses as a source of safety and reassurance; hope and spirituality as coping strategies; parents’ desire to be more involved in their child’s care; and unmet parental needs during PICU care, particularly related to information, emotional support, and orientation to PICU routines. Spirituality emerged as an important parental need within the Indonesian cultural context and played a significant role in parents’ coping processes. In conclusion, parents’ experiences during their child’s care in the PICU are complex and shaped by interactions with healthcare providers, fulfillment of informational needs, involvement in care, and emotional and spiritual support. These findings highlight the importance of implementing holistic and culturally sensitive family-centered care in PICU nursing practice.

Abstract

Family-Centered Care (FCC) is an essential approach in pediatric and neonatal healthcare that positions families as partners in care, particularly in high-complexity settings such as the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Although FCC has been widely recognized for its benefits to patients and families, its implementation in intensive nursing practice remains challenging. This narrative review aims to synthesize existing evidence regarding nurses’ perspectives and the challenges encountered in implementing FCC in NICU and PICU settings. A literature search was conducted across Cinahl from EbscoHost, Pubmed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar, covering publications from 2016 to 2025. Article selection was guided by the PEO framework, with nurses as the population, FCC implementation as the exposure, and perspectives and challenges in practice as the outcomes. Ten eligible articles were included and analyzed using a narrative synthesis approach. The findings indicate that nurses generally perceive FCC as a valuable and meaningful approach in neonatal and pediatric intensive care. However, implementation is constrained by multidimensional challenges, including high workload, limited time and resources, unclear boundaries of family involvement, complex communication with emotionally distressed families, and insufficient organizational and policy support. These challenges frequently place nurses in dilemmas between maintaining clinical safety and responding to family needs. Consistently across the reviewed studies, inadequate nurse-to-patient ratios and rigid institutional policies emerged as the primary barriers to effective FCC implementation. This review highlights the need for systemic support, structured education, and a shift toward a more collaborative and family-inclusive care culture. Strengthening institutional policies and enhancing nurses’ communication competencies are critical to promoting sustainable FCC implementation in NICU and PICU settings.

Abstract

This study examines the direct and indirect effects of the work environment (X₁), career development (X₂), and work perception (X₃) on job satisfaction (Y), with burnout (Z) serving as a mediating variable. The topic is important because organizational improvements and increasing performance demands may unintentionally intensify psychological strain, particularly in high-risk and high-demand work settings. This research was conducted at the Customs and Excise Operational Facility Base, focusing on patrol boat crew members who face complex operational and emotional challenges. The study employed a quantitative explanatory research design to test causal relationships among variables. The sample consisted of 214 respondents drawn from a population of 458 patrol boat crew members. Primary data were collected through a structured questionnaire using a Likert scale. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS), encompassing measurement model evaluation through convergent validity, discriminant validity, and reliability testing using composite reliability and Cronbach’s alpha. Structural model analysis included adjusted R², Q², variance inflation factor (VIF), effect size (F²), model fit, goodness of fit (GOF), and path coefficients, with statistical significance determined by T-statistics greater than 1.96 and p-values below 0.05. The results indicate that the work environment has a positive effect on burnout, while career development and work perception have negative and significant effects on burnout. Burnout negatively affects job satisfaction and fully mediates the relationship between the work environment and job satisfaction, while partially mediating the effects of career development and work perception. Work perception emerged as the strongest predictor of job satisfaction. These findings emphasize the crucial role of burnout as a psychological mechanism and highlight the paradox that modern work environments may increase emotional exhaustion if not balanced with adequate organizational support.
