Abstract

Tarot cards contain complex symbolic systems, including The Setan (the Devil) card in Tarot Nusantara. This complexity makes Barthes’ semiotics relevant for uncovering deeper meanings through denotation, connotation, and myth. This qualitative descriptive study aims to identify the similarities, differences, strengths, and weaknesses between the researcher’s interpretation (based on Barthes’ semiotic framework) and a tarot practitioner’s interpretation of the Setan card in Tarot Nusantara. The data were analyzed using a commensurate method, a comparative analytical approach used to examine relationships between interpretations. The analysis involved identifying and classifying the key symbolic elements of the card, followed by systematic comparisons to determine similarities, differences, and core meanings between the researcher’s interpretation and that of the tarot practitioner. Both interpretations associate the card with human powerlessness driven by lust and desire, representing the darker aspects of human nature. However, the semiotic analysis reveals that the card also conveys a symbolic message of self-awareness and the potential for liberation from psychological and spiritual attachment. The analysis shows that the researcher’s interpretation focuses on psychological dimensions and the potential for self-transformation, while the practitioner’s interpretation emphasizes external negative consequences and immediate risks.

Abstract

The dichotomy between religious and scientific knowledge remains a challenge in Islamic boarding school education, particularly in teaching Tauhid Rububiyah, which is often delivered through memorization-based approaches. This study examines the effectiveness of integrating scientific concepts, specifically photosynthesis and metamorphosis, into Tauhid instruction to enhance students’ conceptual understanding. A mixed-method quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group was employed involving 18 students in an Islamic boarding school in Pemalang, Indonesia. Quantitative data were collected through pretest and posttest and analyzed using N-Gain and Welch’s t-test, while qualitative data were obtained through observation and interviews. The results show that the experimental group demonstrated a significant improvement in understanding compared to the control group. The findings indicate that integrating science as empirical manifestations of divine signs enhances cognitive understanding and contextual internalization of theological concepts. This study contributes empirical evidence to the development of integrative models of religious and scientific education in Islamic schooling contexts.

Abstract

This study analyzes the role of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) as a foundation for character formation in elementary school students using a qualitative library research approach. The study examines major works in character education and Islamic pedagogy to synthesize theoretical perspectives on the integration of religious values in basic education. The findings show that IRE contributes to the development of religious awareness, honesty, discipline, responsibility, and social care when implemented holistically through teacher role modeling, habituation of worship practices, integration of Islamic values into school culture, and collaboration between school and family. This study proposes a conceptual synthesis that positions IRE not only as a subject of instruction but as a foundational moral framework for character education. By integrating modern character education theory with Islamic educational philosophy, this research provides a theoretical explanation of how IRE functions as a structural basis for sustainable character formation in elementary education.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low cognitive abilities of children aged 5-6 years at TK Nurun Alanur Makassar, caused by the use of less varied learning media. The aim of this study is to describe and analyze holistically how the use of puzzle media can contribute to improving children's cognitive abilities, specifically in aspects of logical thinking, problem-solving, concentration, and visual-spatial skills. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results show that the implementation of puzzle media is carried out through three systematic stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. Based on the theoretical foundations of Piaget, Vygotsky, and Bruner, it was found that the use of puzzles significantly optimizes logical thinking skills through the assimilation-accommodation process and enhances problem-solving strategies through scaffolding support within the Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD). In conclusion, puzzle media is effective in facilitating children's cognitive development through active and enjoyable direct learning experiences.

Abstract

Digital transformation in the government sector has become one of the primary strategies for improving the quality of public services. The implementation of e-government enables the government to deliver services that are more effective, transparent, and responsive to the needs of the community. This study aims to analyze how digital transformation through the implementation of e-government can enhance the quality of public services at the Department of Population and Civil Registration of Maluku Province. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The findings indicate that the implementation of digital-based services has improved service efficiency, accelerated service processing time, and enhanced bureaucratic transparency and accountability. However, the implementation of e-government still faces several challenges, including limited technological infrastructure, low levels of digital literacy among the public, and the capacity of human resources within the bureaucracy. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the capacity of public officials, enhance digital infrastructure, and integrate electronic-based service systems to ensure that digital transformation can be implemented optimally.

Abstract

This study examines social workers’ understanding of the concepts of sex and gender, their role in integrating gender perspectives into public policy implementation in the social sector, and the challenges and strategies for strengthening gender-responsive practice. The research uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving ten informants consisting of social workers, program coordinators, and community members involved in social service programs. Data were analyzed using an interactive model including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that social workers generally understand the distinction between sex and gender, although the depth of understanding varies. Social workers play important roles as facilitators, advocates, and agents of social change in promoting gender equality within public policy implementation. However, challenges remain, including limited gender awareness, strong patriarchal norms, and insufficient gender-related training. Strengthening gender perspectives requires capacity building, community empowerment, and stronger collaboration between government, social workers, and civil society. The study concludes that effective gender-responsive policy implementation depends on the active role of social workers at the community level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of educational curriculum according to Ibnu Sina and its relevance to the development of Islamic education. The method used is qualitative descriptive research through literature study with a normative and conceptual approach. The results of the study show that Ibnu Sina’s curriculum is designed based on psychological aspects and the developmental stages of students with the theoretical foundation of al-nafs (soul) to develop physical, intellectual, moral, and spiritual potential in a balanced manner. In conclusion, education according to Ibnu Sina is a process of the perfection of the soul (takamul al-nafs) to form insān kāmil. The novelty of this research lies in the integration of developmental psychology concepts in the design of a holistic Islamic education curriculum, while its difference from previous studies is the emphasis on the practical implications of Ibnu Sina’s thought in developing a student-development-based curriculum.

Abstract

Communication is an essential competency in 21st-century mathematics learning. However, a preliminary study at SMPN 6 Semarang revealed that students’ mathematical communication skills remain low, indicated by the unachieved mathematical expression indicator and suboptimal written text and drawing text. This study aims to assess students’ mathematical communication skills through the implementation of the Think Pair Share (TPS) model assisted by Padlet with a contextual approach, including comparing average learning outcomes with Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and examining improvement. This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 64 students from classes VII D and VII E at SMPN 6 Semarang in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through tests and analyzed using independent and paired t-tests. The results indicate that students taught using TPS assisted by Padlet achieved higher average mathematical communication skills than those taught using PBL, with significant improvement after intervention.

Abstract

Rapidly developing digital technology has drastically changed human life, including the way public services are delivered. The concept of Society 5.0 has emerged as a new model that focuses on the use of technology for humans, with the aim of improving the welfare and quality of life of society. This article aims to comprehensively describe public services in the era of Society 5.0 through a literature study approach. The research method used is a literature study by reviewing scientific journals, academic books, and policy documents relevant to public services and Society 5.0. The results of the study show that public services in the era of Society 5.0 are characterized by the integration of advanced digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and the Internet of Things in the service process, as well as a shift in service orientation that is more focused on the needs and experiences of the community. Public services not only function as a mechanism for administrative fulfillment, but also as an instrument for creating sustainable public value. This article outlines a public service 5.0 model based on human-centred digital governance, hybrid governance services, and public complaints as evaluative indicators for creating sustainable public value.

Abstract

This study analyzes the digital branding strategy and virality mechanisms of Bakso Rusuk Joss (BRJ), a viral culinary MSME in Indonesia. Using a qualitative netnographic approach on TikTok and Instagram, supported by interviews and documentation, the study examines online interactions, visual content, and user-generated content (UGC). The findings show that BRJ’s success is driven by three key factors: (1) visual-led product innovation (e.g., Bakso Lava) that encourages UGC production; (2) experiential marketing that transforms eating into a shareable visual and emotional experience; and (3) influencer-driven exposure that triggers Fear of Missing Out (FOMO). These strategies position consumers as active co-creators who amplify brand visibility organically. The study concludes that BRJ commodifies sensation, where product value lies not only in taste but in its potential to generate digital content and attention. This research provides insights for culinary MSMEs in designing effective marketing strategies within the attention economy.
