Abstract

This study examines the ethical implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Islamic communication through a qualitative systematic review. Twenty-one peer-reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2025 were selected through Google Scholar and manual screening. The review analyzes publication trends, research methodologies, and dominant thematic areas within existing literature. The findings indicate that most studies employ conceptual or qualitative approaches, with major themes encompassing AI and Islamic ethics, AI in Islamic education, AI-mediated religious communication, and AI governance frameworks. Several studies emphasize the risk of misinterpretation in AI-generated Qur’anic and Hadith content. Additional ethical concerns include deepfakes, surveillance practices, and algorithmic bias in recommendation systems. Conversely, the literature highlights opportunities for enhanced access to religious knowledge and innovative educational applications. Overall, this review demonstrates that while the current body of research offers valuable ethical insights, it remains predominantly conceptual, underscoring the need for comparative studies and empirical investigations into the application of AI in Islamic communication.

Abstract

The phenomenon of domestic violence (KDRT) in Indonesia remains a serious issue that impacts the psychological, social, and human rights aspects of victims. Through a restorative justice approach and normative analysis of positive law and Islamic law, this study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of restorative approaches in resolving domestic violence cases. The research employs a qualitative method with data collection techniques including literature review, legal document analysis, and interviews with relevant stakeholders. The findings indicate that the restorative justice approach holds strong relevance both from the perspective of positive law, as regulated in Law No. 23 of 2004 on the Elimination of Domestic Violence and Indonesian National Police Regulation No. 8 of 2021, and from the perspective of Islamic law, which emphasizes the principles of ishlah (reconciliation) and sulh (peaceful settlement). This approach aligns with efforts to restore victims (ḥifẓ al-nafs) and maintain family harmony (ḥifẓ al-usrah). However, its implementation faces challenges such as patriarchal cultural resistance, inadequate mediation infrastructure, and lack of coordination between law enforcement agencies and religious leaders. This study concludes that integrating restorative justice approaches based on positive law and Islamic legal principles can create a more holistic and equitable model for resolving domestic violence cases. Policy recommendations include strengthening mediator capacity, developing integrative guidelines, and enhancing collaboration between the government and religious communities.

Abstract

Sexual violence in higher education continues to increase and poses serious consequences for students, making an adequate understanding of this issue critically important. This study aims to analyze the influence of self-esteem and spiritual intelligence on students’ understanding of sexual violence. A quantitative approach was employed using multiple linear regression analysis involving 213 active university students. The research instruments included self-esteem, spiritual intelligence, and sexual violence understanding scales. The results indicate that spiritual intelligence has a significant effect on students’ understanding, whereas self-esteem does not show a significant influence. The regression model explains 77.1% of the variance in students’ understanding, suggesting that spiritual intelligence plays a crucial role in shaping moral awareness and students’ ability to recognize and evaluate acts of sexual violence. These findings highlight the importance of integrating moral and spiritual values into higher education as a preventive effort against sexual violence and in fostering a safe and responsive academic environment.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Islamic counseling in addressing bullying and academic anxiety among students at MAN 3 Sleman, with a particular focus on how counselors communicate Islamic values during counseling sessions. Unlike previous studies that primarily assess the effectiveness of Islamic counseling, this research explores the interactive communication processes that occur within counseling interactions. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis involving guidance counselors and students. The findings identify key communication strategies, including empathetic dialogue, the integration of spiritual concepts, and moral persuasion. These strategies function not only to transmit religious values but also to support students’ emotional regulation, ethical understanding, and coping abilities. This study contributes to the literature by conceptualizing Islamic counseling as an interactive communicative process and proposing a contextual counseling model that addresses students’ emotional and spiritual needs within madrasah settings.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the meaning behind the signs used in advertisements that represent the happiness of Palestinians welcoming Ramadan amid the sorrow of war. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through observation and screenshots of the advertisements. The analytical framework is based on Peirce’s semiotic theory, which consists of the representamen, object, and interpretant. The findings show that the happiness associated with Ramadan is represented through joyful expressions and shared activities, such as playing, eating together, gathering with family, and acts of solidarity. Meanwhile, sadness is represented through images of destroyed urban buildings, forms of resistance, and issues related to the suffering of residents, particularly children. These findings indicate that Ramadan in Palestinian media representations not only conveys nuances of happiness and tranquility but also functions as a medium for articulating issues of resistance against Zionist Israel.

Abstract

Digital culture has transformed the ways individuals create, interpret, and share personal experiences, including marriage. On X (formerly Twitter), the narrative of “Marriage at the KUA” articulates a discourse centered on simplicity, efficiency, and resistance to consumerism in marital practices. This study employs a qualitative approach using narrative analysis to examine how meaning is constructed within digital cultural communication. Narrative analysis enables an exploration of how narratives are produced, circulated, and negotiated in digital spaces. Drawing on digital narrative theory, which conceptualizes social media as a space for documenting lived experiences and generating social meaning, this study finds that the “Marriage at the KUA” narrative is shaped through the affirmation of simplicity, the reinforcement of legality and religiosity, and a romanticization grounded in realistic expectations. Ultimately, this narrative has evolved into a form of digital cultural practice that fosters online communities, provides social validation, and reflects shifting marriage norms within urban digital societies.
