Abstract

Security is the most challenging aspects in the internet and network application. These days the applications like Internet and networks are growing very fast, thereby the importance and the value of the exchanged data over the internet or other media types are increasing. While transmitting any confidential information across network, some unauthorized user tend to steal or corrupt the data. To prevent this interruption, security of data is needed. As data security is needed for protecting data from unauthorized users and destructive forces, some security techniques are used. Encryption is one such technique which is used to protect the database from unauthorized accesses and unwanted actions of external clients. It is used to secure the confidential information from unauthorized user by converting the data in to that format that is only understandable by the authorized receiver that knows the respective decryption to obtain the original data or information. In this paper, our focus will be on Database Security, as databases are considered as the storehouses of data. Generally, data of an organization or a company is stored in databases and is very crucial to the organization. Today, most of the organizations allow their clients to use their services (online banking, online shopping etc) by accessing their databases. This leads to a requirement of high level security to deal with information attackers. An information attacker tries to illegally acquire or modify the highly confidential data of the organization. An innovative approach for database security using Hill Cipher encryption & decryption method is proposed. This cryptography based approach provides an additional level of security to the database systems. Important data or information crucial to the organization should be secured from illegal theft and attacks. This encryption scheme completely is based on key matrix that a organization decides before encryption and decryption. In this proposed scheme a common key is used to encrypt the data items. Abstract

The high population and increasing growth in the penetration of the use of cellular telecommunications services in Indonesia have encouraged businesses to provide cellular telecommunications services in Indonesia. There are seven existing cellular operators who compete in attracting customers by providing services and prices that are considered to satisfy the customers. However, if seen from the operational performances and financial performances of cellular operators in Indonesia, there is an unbalanced and unfair competition between cellular operators. Consolidation between cellular operators is one of the solutions offered in overcoming the problems of Indonesia's cellular telecommunications industry. In this paper, the consolidation of the four largest cellular operators in Indonesia, namely Telkomsel, ISAT, XL and Three will be designed and analyzed by using the data of operational performance and financial performance of the cellular operators. The operational performance data used as parameters are the number of customers and Base Transceiver Station (BTS) of each cellular operator. While the financial performance data used are the data in the financial statements to calculate the financial ratios of cellular operators so that they can be used as parameters to measure the feasibility of a business company. This consolidated design scenario is designed by combining a maximum of two cellular operators. The results of the study indicate that consolidated design that illustrates the business feasibility and efficiency of the cellular telecommunications industry is consolidation between Telkomsel - Three and ISAT - XL. The feasibility analysis of the consolidation of cellular operators is expected to provide benefits and suggestion in balancing competition in the cellular industry and can improve the efficiency of the telecommunications industry.

Abstract

Tourism has been one of Indonesia’s most significant income contributors over the last few years. This study aimed to identify and analyze the development strategy of Gurabunga Village, Tidore Islands City, the Province of North Maluku. This study explored the villagers’ perspectives on the strategy for developing their village as a tourist village (Desa wisata). This study was qualitative research and used a case study approach to unveil the expected strategy that should be taken the villagers. The results strengthened that Gurabunga has been expected to be an excellent tourist destination due to three distinct elements coming in one place—location (749 m above sea level), culture (an essential region in the Tidore Kingdom), and culinary (traditional and cultural ceremonies). The results answered two research questions—where the first question concerns how to formulate strategies for developers-Gurabunga village as a community-based tourism village, and the last research question related to efforts to establish the village as a world-class tourist destination. Two main themes were derived from the first questions, while five main themes for the last question. Future studies should be able to increase the generalizability in using those eight identified themes to examine their fitness at different tourist villages. Keywords: tourist village, tourism strategy, villager’s empowerment
