Abstract

Cases of sexual violence in Islamic boarding schools are currently a public concern. The existence of vulnerability to women as victims of criminal acts of sexual violence is caused by several factors, such as the occurrence of power relations in the pesantren environment. Therefore, this paper aims to explore the construction of sexuality, social, knowledge, and power relations that have an important influence on the persistence of patriarchal discourse in society, especially in religious education institutions or Islamic boarding schools. In analyzing the problems in this study, the author uses Michel Foucault's theory of power relations with the literature study data search method. The results show that asymmetric power relations are formed and abused to carry out various acts of sexual violence that are controlled under various pretexts of the principle of obedience that must be carried out by a santri against his kiai, gus, or ustaz. In addition, various forms of religious norms, stereotypes, and stigmatization that exist also perpetuate the power of knowledge that is used as a tool for sexual harassment in Islamic boarding schools. For this reason, various efforts are needed to prevent acts of sexual violence, such as the existence of sexual education in the pesantren curriculum, the post for complaints of sexual violence, and the role of national and regional governments to oversee the case. In this case, the ratification of the TPKS Law can also provide fresh air to ensnare perpetrators of sexual violence in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training)is one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) indicators used to assess the level of vulnerability of the young population aged 15-24 in terms of unemployment, school dropout, and labor-market despair. According to BPS data, 195,380 people in West Sumatra Province (20.5 percent) became NEET in 2020. Nationally, West Sumatra's NEET rate is ranked the 13th highest. This study aims to determine the general description and determinants that cause a person to have the opportunity to become a NEET in West Sumatra using Sakernas data in 2020. The analysis method used is descriptive statistics and inferential statistics with a binary logistic regression model. The results showed that, with a 99 percent confidence level, the variables that significantly affect a person's status as NEET are age, disability, marital status, education, skills, work experience, education of the head of the household, number of children, presence of toddlers or elderly, presence of working household members, and the perceived impact of COVID-19. People with disabilities are six times more at risk of becoming NEET than those without disabilities. Meanwhile, gender status and location of residence do not affect a person's status as a NEET. In contrast to other provinces where women are more likely to become NEET, West Sumatera's unique matrilineal system means that gender has no bearing on a person's NEET status.

Abstract

Low family incomes force children to support households and become Child Labourers (PA) in the agricultural and household sectors. The agricultural sector is still the main source of income for most Indonesians; at least 70% of the archipelago's population is dependent on the agricultural sector. However, rural poverty remains relatively high. At least 16% of rural areas are poor compared to 9.9% of urban areas. Farm labourers have not been able to benefit significantly from economic growth, as it is undeniable that several problems have caused the agricultural sector to lag behind other sectors.  This qualitative study will describe the processes that influence and shift the mindset of children and parents of child laborers to change their mindset and desire to continue their education. Economic exploitation in children is actually carried out by families, for example, by placing, allowing, and telling children to work as a form of economic exploitation. Good economic exploitation will result in good child development, but bad exploitation will have a bad impact on children, including lying, insensitivity, low self-esteem, developmental disorders, oppressing the weak, difficulty forming and interacting with the environment, anxiety, low self-esteem, and personality disorders. Equality education is another way for children to re-enter school. It is necessary to optimise all stakeholders to eliminate child labour and return child labourers to school. It is necessary to strengthen equivalency schools in various places so that they can be reached by children with economic difficulties or difficulties integrating into public schools. Preventive efforts must be made to ensure that children do not drop out of school and are prepared to enter the global workforce, including introducing and raising awareness of the importance of education, as well as providing affordable education to all.

Abstract

Sexual harassment and violence seems to be a taboo subject and its resolution has not been holistically understood in our society. The fame of the case that never stops surfacing in the public eye, forms a collective massive agitation to crush the naughty sexual paradigm. The author is interested in examining how the construction of movements and counter-narratives are formed in realizing fundamental freedom and understanding related to sexual harassment. The author uses a descriptive qualitative approach using secondary data from literature. The description of the study will be obtained through optimizing the formulation of the topic interpretation surrounding the issue of sexual harassment. The elaboration of interpretation and data that was carried out was then analyzed through Kuntowijoyo's Social Prophetic theoretical lines. This research concludes that the various forms of agitation that are exposed are exposures in building humanization and liberation values for all people in a fair and safe manner. The idea in the form of agitation is a form of invitation for all groups to be involved in efforts to uphold human rights, freedom and security in the public space.

Some people think that men are the most perfect in terms of leadership. The fact states that in a religious environment, it iswrong for a woman to become a leader. However, at UIN Walisongo Semarang the number of female leaders is quite large. Emotional intelligence is the ability to control oneself, have endurance when facing a problem, able to control impulses, motivate oneself, able to regulate moods, ability to empathize and build relationships with others. The subjects of this study were 45 female respondents, the respondents came from university level administrators, faculty and institutional levels. The data analysis technique uses descriptive analysis and multiple regression analysis. The results of the study stated that there was a significant influence on the variables of gender, religiosity and emotional intelligence on women's decisions to become leaders. Meanwhile, there is no significant influence on the allowance variable on women's decisions to become leaders. In the gender variable, there is an ideological influence of gender roles on providing support to prospective female leaders in student organizations and there are ideological differences in the gender roles of female voters who choose female and male leaders. In the religiosity variable, leaders who have a transformative style who continue to motivate their employees and are supported by a high level of religiosity, the campus will develop and be able to compete well. In the emotional intelligence variable, one of the important factors that influence a woman to become a leader. Women have more empathy and can build better relationships. Abstract

This study aims to reveal the ways in which widows of conflict victims manage their assets and their abilities in an effort to survive and improve social welfare after the Poso conflict. Data were obtained from two sources: an analysis of literature during the Poso conflict and interviews with victims and their relatives. The results of the study show that widows in desperate situations save their lives from threats and riots by utilising social capital by relying on relatives with ownership. Assets and capabilities are linked by access and property ownership. This was built before the conflict occurred so as to strengthen the bonds of post-conflict social capital with kinship strength among the closest relatives, such as parents, siblings, and nephews or nieces, based on the same religion, for their survival.

Abstract

This research explores women's pesantren as a forum for Islamic religious education for women to learn Islam and other soft skills that will be needed in the future. The location of this research is Nurul Huda Islamic Boarding School, Pandansari Batang Regency. Qualitative research methods, in-depth interview data collection techniques, and participatory observation of this research were conducted. The results of this research show that it is Pesantren Nurul Huda, a traditional Islamic boarding school or pesantren whose students live together under the guidance of a Pak Kyai and Bu Nyai. Pak Kyai and Bu Nyai guide their students to become good female leaders by adhering to the teachings of Islam because Islam does not prohibit women from being leaders in society. Women's boarding schools empower women to create gender equality between men and women, but that does not mean women have to be equal to men. Women's empowerment prioritises women's independence so that they are not too dependent on men.

Abstract

Changes in people's behavior towards women's lack of equality and human rights Women as a whole have not been able to gain the right to grow and equate with men. Women tend to become marginalized individuals and become subordinate to men. We know why many cigarette factories employ women as laborers, while men are employed in important roles such as corporate managers, overseers, and staff of tobacco companies. So why are there so many women who are placed as workers or regular employees? This indicates a lack of equality for women, and always assume that man is still regarded as a strong figure and responsible for finding and positioning the company or factory. Whereas women are weaker figures assigned to organize and as ordinary employers may even be merely appropriate for household affairs. When women enter the world of work, they are still faced with disenchanted behavior and a lack of justice for equality between men and women. In the competition of the working world, women are also in the lowest position compared with men. It is needed to give women opportunities to get equal access to men. This goal can be realized if the regulations made by the state are carried out properly and if the company is committed to giving fair treatment to women, eliminating gender discrimination, and providing human rights and equality between men and women.

Abstract

This research focuses on discussing the division of productive, reproductive, and social gender roles in dual-career families in the Inderalaya Raya sub-district. The division of roles in a dual-career family certainly has its own difficulties and challenges, such as the division of roles involving children, work, household, and time. The purpose of this study is to identify the division of roles between husbands and wives who work in deciding the division of roles in family life. The research method used is descriptive-qualitative with a narrative research strategy. This study used role theory, and data was obtained from six pairs of husband and wife informants and three child informants through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the husband and wife have agreed on a joint decision to balance work responsibilities in the formal sector and household affairs, which can be in the form of full direct involvement of the husband and wife or assistance from a third party in carrying out the reproductive role. The multiple roles that are carried out will experience role conflict if there are two or more pressures that occur simultaneously. Role theory states that role strain and role failure carried out by someone will also lead to conflict and can even lead to gender inequality. However, workers and parents who carry out their roles well are made role models by the child
