Abstract

Environmental damage that has become a global problem not only affects people's lives, but also encourages many communities and researchers to find solutions to preserve the natural environment. Indigenous local wisdom is one way that is believed to be able to prevent environmental damage because it is able to respect and live in friendship with nature. This study examined the concept of ecotheology in Pamali as the indigenous people of Kampung Dukuh's local wisdom in preserving the natural environment. This research used a case study method intended to analyse the practice of environmental conservation in Kampung Dukuh based on pamali. Interviews, direct observation, and involved observation were used to collect data for this study. In line with the concept of ecotheology that connects humans, God and nature, pamali as local wisdom of the indigenous people of Kampung Dukuh can simplify and facilitate indigenous people in applying ecotheology as an effort to maintain the balance of life and the preservation of natural environments such as forests.

Abstract

This study discusses how the concept of wasathiyah in Surah Al Baqarah 143 is applied in the digitalization era. In some ways, the changes that have occurred are not accompanied by human readiness as social media users. So various problems of religious moderation arise on social media such as shifts in religious authority, distorted understanding of religion, and abnormal behavior of social media users towards religious issues. For this reason, it is necessary to explain the concept of washatiyah in the Qur'an as a digital literacy guide for virtual communities in the era of society 5.0 to shape the moderate behavior of social media users. Various previous studies have discussed religious moderation in a normative-traditional context. Therefore it is necessary to apply the wastathiyah which applies to virtual space in this digitalization era. This study uses library data collection, in the form of books and interpretations of verses of the Qur'an, especially surah Al Baqarah verse 143. The results of the study show that first, moderate behavior in surah Al Baqarah 143 tawassuth ,bawazun ,and tasamuh. Second, the principle of fairness in commenting on social media must be applied. Third, moderation can be implemented by filtering information before commenting.

Abstract

This article is a critical review of transformative dawah in Nagari Sopan Jaya, which has received little attention. In 1993, Nagari Sopan Jaya was one of the ex-transmigration areas. Religious knowledge is generally unknown in the transmigration community. The entity, on the other hand, can transform into a Sharia-aware individual and thus form a madani society civilisation. The goals of this study are as follows: 1) to describe the transformative da'wah model in transmigration areas; and 2) to see transmigration missionary dialogue as a tool for madani society development. This study employs a case study method with a descriptive explanatory approach. Data were gathered through observation, interviews, and a review of the literature. The results of the research show that the dawah of transformation is carried out in 3 stages; 1) planting monotheism and sharia awareness; 2) Islamic community development (ta'lim method); 3) Caring for the awareness of Muslims (takwin al ummah). Meanwhile, in the development of madani society there are 4 principles that must be upheld, namely moral and ethical principles (ruhama bainakum), social principles (khoiru ummah), political principles (siyasah), and brotherhood principles (ukhuwah Islamiyah, wathoniyah, and basyariyah). The four components have simultaneously been realized by the Sopan Jaya community so that it has grown into a madani society.

Abstract

Based on the Minangkabau aphorism, the marriage system in society must refer to the guidance of the Quran and Sunnah, but there are some researchers who say that matrilineal culture, including the marriage system practiced in Minangkabau, is not in line with the values contained in the Quran and Sunnah. The aim of this research is to prove the relationship between the concept of culture in the Quran and the culture of marriage in Minangkabau by asking two questions. First, is the marriage system and culture in Minangkabau in line with the values of marriage in the Quran? Second, what is the relevance of marriage in Minangkabau to the cultural values carried by the Quran? This research is library research using a qualitative approach in the field of interpretation studies, while data analysis uses a comparative method. The results of the study show that there is no fundamental difference between the marriage system adhered to in the Quran and the marriage system practiced by the Minangkabau people and the values promoted by the Quran have been well-cultivated in the marriage process in Minangkabau which has a pivotal to monotheism, in line with human nature, and, produce Islam rahmatan lil alamin.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the application of Islamic education from the perspective of Sheikh Muhammad Jamil Jaho through the interaction of adat and syara. The method used in research is content analysis, with the steps of having a general idea about the research topic, looking for supporting information, clarifying the focus (expanding or narrowing and organizing reading), searching for and finding the material needed, re-organizing and making research notes (at best central), reviewing and re-enriching reading material, re-organizing material or notes and starting to write. The research results show that applying Islamic education from the perspective of Syekh Muhammad Djamil Jaho through the teraction of adat and syara is developed through three values: adat and syara values, national values, and cultural values. The three elements of value are essential points in the affinity of custom and syara of Syekh Muhammad Jamil Jaho, each of which is related and cannot be separated in Minangkabau society, the interaction between religious values, national values and traditional values, which always interact with each other, mediates between one with another. The affinity of adat and syara is also inseparable from the authority holders of adat and syara values, in its development, it has experienced very problematic developments in terms of terminological definitions and implementation.

Abstract

This study aims to describe, first: the psychological disorders of Muslim inmates who experience trauma as a result of not being ready to accept the reality of serving time as convicts in prison. Psychological disorders are in the form of behavior: difficulty controlling emotions, disappointment, sadness, blaming others, difficulty managing stress, difficulty controlling oneself, feelings of guilt, anxiety, and depression. Second: spiritual development by Correctional Institution (LP) officers through mental coaching in the form of routine activities such as carrying out congregational prayers, sermon training, giving speeches, and reading and understanding the contents of the Koran. Mental development aims to open oneself and foster a strong religious attitude in order to accept divine destiny with patience and trust. This self-awareness becomes positive energy to stimulate spiritual potential to shape self-character to become a pious person individually and socially. A qualitative descriptive approach was chosen to gather information from informants through non-participant observation and in-depth interviews (in-depth interviews). The collected data is reduced, displayed, verified and analyzed and constructed into a new concept. The research findings found that immoral informants (drug cases, murder, theft, and corruption) were dominantly experiencing psychological disorders compared to immoral informants (rape cases). It is easier for immoral informants to open up and be actively involved in participating in mental coaching activities, while immoral informants still find it difficult to accept the reality of life so they are more withdrawn and choose not to take part in mental coaching activities. Strengthening spirituality that is dynamic and innovative as well as rich in new methods is expected to be the right solution for the recovery of psychological disorders of Muslim inmates while in prison

Activities based on religious values in the Kawin Cai tradition include praying together, eating together and sharing among human beings. These activities have proven the correlation between Islam and local culture in Tatar Sunda, especially in Jalaksana District, Kuningan Regency. This study contributes to realizing harmony in society. It is hoped that the community will understand more and more that the implementation of local traditions is not always associated with shirk, but there is religious value in it. Such comprehension makes a significant contribution to the pluralistic society of Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the epistemological construct of Sufism according to Said Nursi in the contemporary era. Sufism is seen as having deviant concepts and practices contrary to Sharia in the modern era. Some muslim and non-muslim thinkers argue that Sufism does not originate from Islam. Therefore, there needs to be an effort to decipher this misunderstanding by exposing how Sufism's epistemology was genuinely constructed by referring to the teachings and practices of a contemporary Sufi, Sa'id Nursi. This study is qualitative library research. Data in this study, both primary and secondary, were collected using documentary techniques. The collected data were analyzed utilizing the content analysis method. This work finds that Nursi outlines four pillars of Sufism epistemology. First, true Sufism is based on the Qur'an and Sunnah, internalized and manifested through the soul and heart, as is the view of the authoritative Sufis. Second, purification of the teachings and practices of Sufism must depart from the purgation of the heart and soul. Third, social equality refers to carrying out lifes values, meaning that all are equal before Allah SWT. Fourth, consistently instill the Qurans four values: tauhid (unity and oneness of God), nubuwah (prophecy), hashr (resurrection), and 'adl (justice).

Abstract

This paper analyzes the freedom of expression challenge (ta’bÄ«r al-hurriyyah) through Arab intellectual experiences. Although freedom of expression has doctrinal support and historical factual expertise in Islam, it is still challenging to find its actual implementation within the Arab world, especially in Arab countries with authoritarian systems. Therefore, the paper begins by exploring several examples of intimidation experienced by Arab intellectuals as the consequences of their critical ideas and voices. Specifically, the paper examines freedom of expression among Arab scholars in Syrian as an authoritarian state. The failure of the Arab Spring made it more difficult for freedom of expression to find its free space. As a qualitative study, data was collected by gathering essential information from journals, books, and online websites. The data were then analyzed through critical reading based on formulated research questions. The paper concluded that freedom of expression has its historical doctrine in Arab-Islam. However, this moral doctrine did not lead to absolute freedom of expression. It is proved that most Arab intellectuals experienced bitter life due to their critical voices. In the Syrian context, Arab intellectuals are divided between those who support the regime and maintain opposition to the ruling government. However, the opposition keeps conducting the reform in silence since the voices and protests will lead them to exile or death. Due to this polarization, critical voices in Syria have not successfully become a powerful movement.Â
