Abstract

Malaria is an infectious disease transmitted by the Anopheles mosquito vector and is still a public health problem in Indonesia. The morbidity and mortality rates due to malaria are high, and have the potential to cause Extraordinary Events (KLB). The existence of malaria vectors is influenced by physical, biological, and socio-cultural environmental factors, so that control efforts require cross-sectoral and programmatic cooperation. Along with the national malaria elimination target in 2030, Bengkulu Province has had four districts/cities achieve elimination status, one of which is Bengkulu City. To maintain this status, strengthening environmental surveillance is crucial. This study aims to map the type and distribution of breeding sites and the presence of Anopheles sp. larvae in the working area of Sidomulyo Health Center, Bengkulu City. This study used spatial analysis with the help of Geographic Information System (GIS) to produce effective visualization and illustrate the relationship between ecosystem characteristics and vector presence. Coordinates of breeding sites were identified and the presence of Anopheles sp. larvae was observed. From the mapping results, 12 potential breeding sites were found, consisting of 6 ditches, 3 swamps, and 3 ponds. Four of them were confirmed positive for Anopheles sp. It is recommended that surveillance officers and malaria program managers conduct routine monitoring at positive sites as well as malaria screening for migrants from endemic areas who live temporarily or permanently in the Sidomulyo Puskesmas area.

Abstract

Tofu industrial liquid waste will affect water bodies if it is disposed of directly without prior management, causing problems with water quality and other biota. This research aims to determine the difference in improving the quality of CCarbon and N-Nitrogen with the addition of EM4 and lamtoro leaves. The research method uses quasi-experiment. Based on the results of the average levels of C-Carbon and N-Nitrogen produced from liquid organic fertilizer with 1 Kg treatment; 1.5 Kg; 2 Kg and control results from the one way anova test obtained a p-value for C-Carbon levels of 0.198 ≥ 0.05, which means that statistically there is no significant difference, while the results of the one way anova test for N levels obtained a p-value of 0.033 ≤ 0.05, which means there is a significant difference. It can be concluded from the results of this study that C-Carbon levels do not have a significant difference while N-Nitrogen has a significant difference. It is hoped that the community can use tofu liquid waste as an alternative to liquid organic fertilizer in controlling environmental pollution.

Abstract

Industrial liquid waste is an effluent from industry which has poor quality which can cause contamination of groundwater and surface water. Production liquid waste containing ammonia comes from the dyeing production process. The results of the laboratory examination obtained an ammonia level of 22.92 mg/L, which means that the ammonia level is still abovethe PerMenLHK quality standard No 5 of 2014, which is 8 mg/L. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in contact time variation of activated carbon adsorbent media with plastic pellets on the reduction of ammonia levels in the liquid waste produced by the production. The research method used in this research was an experiment with a pretest- posttest without control research design. The sample used is the liquid waste produced by PT. Harapan kurnia Textile Indonesia. The One Way Anova test shows that there is a significant difference between contact time variations in reducing ammonia levels because it has a p value < ɑ (0.000 ≥ 0.05) Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, thus the test results are significant. The most significant reduction in ammonia levels was at 60 minutes contact time with a reduction percentage of 62.56%. In this research, it is necessary to conduct further research regarding the saturation point of activated carbon media in adsorbing ammonia levels and contact time which is more effective in reducing ammonia levels. Future researchers can carry out further research on the saturation point of plastic pellets activated carbon media in adsorbing ammonia levels.

Abstract

The increase in community health center services is one of the factors that triggers the rate of hazardous and toxic waste generation. The resulting medical waste has the potential to pollute the environment and become a source of disease transmission if not managed in accordance with applicable regulations. This study aims to evaluate the practice of hazardous and toxic waste management in community health centers from various regions in Indonesia. The method used in this study is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). The data used in this study are published scientific articles sourced from Google Scholar through Publish or Perish and Mendeley. Based on the results of the literature review, it was found that the management of hazardous and toxic waste in community health centers in several regions is still not running optimally. This is reflected in the continued discovery of waste mixing, limited facilities, and low compliance with waste management procedures. This is exacerbated by the lack of knowledge and training of waste processing officers who pose a risk to health and environmental pollution. Thus, improvements are needed in all aspects of input, process, and output in the management of hazardous and toxic waste in community health centers. Abstract

`Introduction : Tuberculosis (TB) is a communicable disease that remains a public health concern in Indonesia, including in Bengkulu City. TB transmission can be influenced by the physical conditions of the home environment. This study aimed to describe the physical housing conditions in tuberculosis cases within the working area of the Bentiring Public Health Center, Bengkulu City . Method : The research employed a descriptive method with an observational approach. The sample consisted of 5 homes of TB patients selected purposively. Data were collected through direct measurements and observations of variables such as ventilation area, humidity, temperature, lighting, wall conditions, floor conditions, and occupancy density. Results : The results showed that most houses had ventilation (60%), humidity (60%), temperature (60%), lighting (80%), and occupancy density (60%) that did not meet health standards. Meanwhile, all houses (100%) had adequate wall and floor conditions. These findings indicate that although some physical components of the house met the standards, several environmental factors still contribute to a higher risk of TB transmission. Therefore, improving ventilation, lighting, and reducing occupancy density is essential as a preventive effort to reduce TB spread in the household environment Keywords: Hygiene, Sanitation, Canteen, School

Abstract

The problem of waste is one of the environmental issues that often becomes a public concern and has an impact on environmental damage. Kepok banana peels are one type of organic waste that can be utilized as a raw material in the production of natural floor-cleaning eco-enzymes. This study aims to determine the aroma, color, pH, and the composition of 300g, 450g, and 600g of kepok banana peel waste in reducing the total bacterial plate count on floors. The research method used is a sampling method with pretest and posttest designs. Floor swab samples were taken before and after the use of the eco-enzyme made from kepok banana peel waste. The results showed that the eco-enzyme had a typical acidic fermented smell, was yellowish-brown in color, and had a pH of 3.7–4. The eco-enzyme made from 300g of kepok banana peel waste was able to reduce the total bacterial plate count on the floor by 93%, 450g composition by 99%, and 600g composition by 56%. The LC50 value of the eco-enzyme composition from kepok banana peel waste in this study was 0.18g. The conclusion of this study is that the eco-enzyme with a concentration of 450g is the most effective formulation for reducing bacterial counts on floors. It is suggested that future research add fragrance ingredients to produce a more pleasant aroma.

Abstract

This research is based on the high use of rolling machines in the gold processing process, which operate 24 hours a day and produce noise levels exceeding the threshold limit (TLV) for quality standards. Excessive noise exposure is known to cause hearing loss in workers. This study aimed to analyze noise levels and hearing loss among gold mine workers in Lebong Tandai Village, North Bengkulu Regency. The research method used a field survey and hearing loss examinations. The examination results showed that of the 72 workers, 22 had normal hearing, 23 had mild hearing loss, 22 had moderate hearing loss, and 9 had severe hearing loss. The primary factor causing hearing loss was noise intensity exceeding quality standards. This study recommends the need for noise prevention and control efforts in the mining workplace, as well as regular hearing health examinations to minimize the risk of hearing loss among gold mine workers in Lebong Tandai Village.

Abstract

Dermatophytes are a group of pathogenic fungi that cause dermatophytosis by infecting keratin-rich tissues such as skin, hair, and nails. Helmets, particularly those used by online motorcycle taxi drivers, have the potential to become a transmission medium for these fungi due to frequent use and poor hygiene maintenance. This study aims to determine the presence of dermatophyte fungi on helmets used by drivers in the Saudara Satu Aspal (SASPAL) Community in Bengkulu City. A descriptive observational method was employed, with total population sampling. Samples were taken from 20 helmets using the swab method on the inner part and straps. The results showed that 17 out of 20 helmet samples (42.5%) were positive for dermatophytes, with 10 samples testing positive from the strap area and 7 from the inner helmet. Identified dermatophyte genera included Microsporum sp. and Trichophyton sp. These findings suggest that helmets can be a source of dermatophytosis infection, emphasizing the need for regular helmet hygiene among drivers.
