Abstract

The manual management of athlete data at the Department of Tourism, Youth, and Sports of Tanah Datar Regency has led to various challenges, including administrative inefficiencies and difficulties for coaches in analyzing athlete performance quickly and accurately. This study aims to implement a web-based athlete management information system using the Laravel framework and the prototype method as a system development approach. System testing was conducted through black box testing using use case testing to ensure all functionalities operated according to predefined scenarios and to maintain data integrity. The test results indicate that the system achieved 100% functionality success, applied strict data validation, and effectively implemented role-based access control (RBAC) for administrators, coaches, and athletes. The system has proven to be a reliable and secure integrated solution to support athlete data management processes, improve work efficiency, and accelerate data-driven decision-making for performance enhancement. This study offers practical contributions to the digitalization of public services in the sports sector and opens avenues for further development, including real-time performance analytics integration.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in the Pancasila Education subject, which are partly attributed to suboptimal teaching processes and limited student engagement. The purpose of this research is to describe the improvement in learning outcomes through the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model among Grade IV students at SDN 23 Payakumbuh. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, each comprising the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects included one teacher and 19 students (14 boys and 5 girls). Data collection techniques involved observation, tests, and non-test instruments. The results show that the application of the PBL model led to significant improvements across various aspects of learning. The quality of teaching modules increased from 88.88% in Cycle I to 94.44% in Cycle II, categorized as “Excellent.” Teacher activity improved from 83.92% to 96.42%, while student activity increased from 80.35% to 92.85%. Moreover, the average student learning score rose from 77.03 in Cycle I to 86.88 in Cycle II. These findings demonstrate that the PBL model is effective in enhancing Pancasila Education learning outcomes at the elementary level by promoting more active, contextual, and student-centered learning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the structure and function of pantun in ceremonial speeches (pidato persembahan) at wedding events in Kenagarian Ujung Gading, Lembah Melintang District, West Pasaman Regency. This literary research adopts a descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected from the lines, rhymes, and stanzas of pantun featured in a wedding ceremonial speech, as well as interviews with three informants. Data collection techniques included direct observation and interviews, with data validity ensured through triangulation. Data analysis involved classification, interpretation, and presentation of findings. The results show that pantun in ceremonial speeches possess a physical structure characterized by symmetrical typography, aesthetic diction rich in cultural meaning, and the use of regional vocabulary such as horas, martikte, pasu-pasu, roantos, marhite, and jolanta. The rhythm of the pantun tends to follow a free pattern, featuring auditory, visual, and tactile imagery. Its inner structure comprises themes, emotions, tone, and messages that reflect sociocultural values such as respect, affection, and hope for the married couple. In terms of function, pantun serve expressive and directive purposes. The expressive function is dominant, used to convey respect, blessings, and pride, while the directive function subtly communicates moral values and customary messages. These findings indicate that pantun are not merely rhetorical ornaments in traditional speeches but also serve as vital tools for the transmission of Minangkabau cultural values.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of the Big Five Personality Traits on academic procrastination in thesis completion among students at Universitas Negeri Padang. A quantitative approach was used, with proportional random sampling to select a sample of 259 students from the 2018–2020 cohorts who had enrolled in the thesis course for at least one year. The instruments employed included the IPIP-BFM-50 scale to measure the five personality dimensions and an academic procrastination scale to assess the level of task delay. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results revealed that among the five personality dimensions, only neuroticism had a significant effect on academic procrastination in thesis completion. This indicates that students with higher neuroticism scores tend to exhibit greater tendencies to postpone academic tasks, including thesis work. These findings highlight the importance of considering personality traits in academic mentoring strategies and stress management interventions for students.

Abstract

The study of the history and foundational concepts of learning psychology within the context of Islamic Religious Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam, PAI) is essential for understanding the theoretical basis of instructional strategies rooted in Islamic values. This research aims to trace the evolution of learning psychology and to elucidate its core concepts relevant to Islamic education. The study employs a library research method with a qualitative descriptive approach by analyzing classical and contemporary literature on learning psychology and its connection to PAI. The analysis reveals that the development of learning psychology originates from classical philosophy, Islamic thought in the medieval period, and extends to modern theories encompassing behaviorist, cognitive, social, and humanistic approaches. In the context of PAI, fundamental concepts of learning psychology include relatively permanent behavioral changes, cognitive processes, intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, and the influence of social experience. The Islamic perspective enriches these approaches with a spiritual dimension aimed at nurturing knowledgeable, faithful, and morally upright individuals in accordance with the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah. These findings highlight the importance of integrating the principles of learning psychology with Islamic values in the development of curriculum, learning strategies, and future research directions in PAI.

Abstract

Although traditional Javanese wedding ceremonies and the Solo Putri bridal makeup style continue to be preserved by the Javanese community in Luhak Nan Duo District, West Pasaman Regency, modernization, socio-economic changes, and declining youth understanding of traditional values have led to the simplification and alteration of customary practices. This study aims to describe the sequence of traditional Javanese wedding ceremonies, analyze the makeup, hair arrangement, and bridal attire of the Solo Putri style, along with their underlying philosophical meanings. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through field observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving community leaders, cultural elders, and bridal makeup artists. Data analysis was conducted through stages of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, by comparing current practices with traditional standards. The findings indicate that most core ceremonies—such as the engagement, wedding contract (akad nikah), and panggih ceremony—are still preserved in accordance with tradition, while other rituals like siraman, midodareni, and ngunduh mantu are increasingly being abandoned. The Solo Putri makeup style has undergone modifications in materials for paes, cosmetic color choices, and the use of ready-made hair buns instead of traditional pandan buns. Bridal attire has also adapted to modern trends, although it retains distinctive elements such as velvet kebaya and batik cloth featuring the sidoasih motif. These findings underscore the importance of preserving traditions through adaptive practices that respect cultural values, and highlight the need to educate younger generations to ensure the continuity of cultural heritage amidst changing times.

Abstract

Geography learning is often perceived as difficult by students due to its broad scope and the limited variety of teaching methods employed, which can reduce students' concentration during classroom instruction. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Scramble learning method in improving the geography learning outcomes of Grade XI students at SMAN 1 Enam Lingkung. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was used, involving two classes of 32 students each. Data were collected through observation, testing, and documentation, and analyzed statistically. The results show that the calculated t value of 2.70 exceeds the critical t value of 1.99 at the 5% significance level (α = 0.05), indicating acceptance of the alternative hypothesis. Additionally, the n-gain scores reveal an improvement of 0.71 (high category) in the experimental class and 0.55 (moderate category) in the control class. These findings demonstrate that the Scramble learning method is effective in enhancing students' geography learning outcomes. The study concludes that innovative teaching methods are essential for improving students' conceptual understanding and academic performance. The implications encourage educators to adopt more interactive and engaging instructional strategies to foster a more effective learning environment.

Abstract

The rising trend of purchasing second-hand clothing (thrifting) through social media, particularly via TikTok's live streaming feature, has led consumers to rely heavily on reviews and comments as primary sources of information in their decision-making processes. This study aims to analyze the influence of Electronic Word of Mouth (eWOM) on purchase intention for second-hand clothing via TikTok live streaming. A quantitative causal approach was employed, with a population comprising Indonesian consumers who have previously purchased second-hand clothing through TikTok. The sample consisted of 399 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using an eWOM scale adapted from Hasibuan (2024), based on the theoretical framework of Lin, Wu, and Chen (2013), and a purchase intention scale modified from Fristasari (2019), grounded in Ajzen’s (2005) theory. The analysis revealed that eWOM has a significant influence on purchase intention, contributing 40.4% to the variance (sig = 0.000; R² = 0.404). These findings indicate that the more positively consumers perceive reviews and comments, the greater their tendency to purchase second-hand clothing through TikTok live streaming. The study underscores the importance of consumer review–driven digital communication strategies as an effective marketing approach in the social media era.

Abstract

The low listening skills of elementary school students are often attributed to conventional teaching approaches and the limited variety of techniques that promote active engagement and effective learning processes. Additionally, difficulties in processing auditory information negatively affect comprehension of orally delivered material. This study aims to describe the improvement of students' listening skills through the application of the Dictogloss technique. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) across two cycles, involving the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects were 12 fifth-grade students at UPTD SD Negeri 01 Andiang, Lima Puluh Kota Regency. A mixed qualitative and quantitative approach was used. The results indicated a significant improvement in listening skills, with the average instructional module score increasing from 85.71% to 96.42%, the teacher performance aspect from 79.16% to 95.83%, and the student participation aspect from 75% to 95.83%. Students’ listening skills also improved from 74.29% in the first cycle to 90.23% in the second cycle. These findings affirm that the Dictogloss technique is effective in enhancing the listening abilities of elementary students. The study highlights the importance of employing innovative instructional techniques to strengthen auditory literacy competencies at the primary education level.

Abstract

Educational psychology plays an important role in understanding students’ learning processes and designing effective instruction, so that learning theories become a conceptual foundation for educators in determining appropriate approaches, strategies, and methods. This article aimed to examine the main learning theories in educational psychology—namely behaviorist, cognitive, humanistic, and constructivist theories—and to analyze their implications in the context of Islamic education. A library research method was employed by reviewing various relevant books and journal articles. The findings show that each learning theory has distinct characteristics, basic assumptions, and pedagogical applications: behaviorist theory emphasizes behavior reinforcement through stimulus–response mechanisms, cognitive theory focuses on internal mental processes, humanistic theory is oriented toward the development of potential and the wholeness of the self, while constructivist theory positions learners as active subjects in constructing knowledge. Nonetheless, these four theories can complement one another when integrated with Islamic values, so that the learning process becomes not only academically effective but also oriented toward character formation, the strengthening of spirituality, and the personality balance of learners. Thus, the integration of learning theories within the framework of Islamic education constitutes an essential foundation for developing holistic and character-based instructional practices.
