Abstract

The low listening skills of elementary school students are often caused by conventional teaching approaches and the lack of varied techniques that encourage active engagement and effective learning. Furthermore, limitations in processing auditory information negatively affect comprehension of orally delivered material. This study aims to describe the improvement of students’ listening skills through the implementation of the Dictogloss technique. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) in two cycles, comprising the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects were 12 fifth-grade students at UPTD SD Negeri 01 Andiang, Lima Puluh Kota Regency. A mixed-method approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data, was used. The results showed a significant improvement in listening skills, with the average score for the teaching module increasing from 85.71% to 96.42%, teacher performance from 79.16% to 95.83%, and student participation from 75% to 95.83%. Students’ listening skills also improved from 74.29% in the first cycle to 90.23% in the second cycle. These findings confirm that the Dictogloss technique is effective in enhancing listening abilities among elementary students. The study underscores the importance of using innovative instructional techniques to improve auditory literacy competencies at the primary education level.

Abstract

Prosocial behavior among university students in academic settings is influenced by various psychological factors, including academic stress and self-compassion. This study aims to analyze the influence of academic stress and self-compassion on prosocial behavior among students of the Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Negeri Padang. Employing a quantitative approach with a survey method, the study involved 108 students selected through stratified sampling. Instruments included scales measuring academic stress, self-compassion, and prosocial behavior. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression to determine the contribution of each variable to prosocial behavior. The results indicate that academic stress and self-compassion jointly have a significant effect on prosocial behavior. Partially, academic stress has a significant negative effect, while self-compassion has a significant positive effect on prosocial behavior. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.771 indicates that 77.1% of the variation in prosocial behavior can be explained by these two independent variables. These findings highlight the importance of stress management and the cultivation of self-compassion as strategies to enhance students’ propensity for prosocial behavior in higher education environments.

Abstract

The low speaking skills of elementary school students are often attributed to the lack of learning activities that encourage active participation, as the learning process remains largely teacher-centered. This condition leads to students struggling to formulate words and speak fluently in front of the class. This study aims to describe the improvement of speaking skills through the implementation of the cooperative learning model, Team Games Tournament (TGT) type. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) with both qualitative and quantitative approaches, conducted over two cycles comprising planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects were a teacher and 18 fourth-grade students at SDN 04 Buo. Data were collected through observation and speaking skill tests. The results showed improvement across all aspects: the instructional module increased from 87.49% (good category) to 93.75% (very good category); teacher and student performance improved from 87.49% to 95.83%; and students’ speaking skills rose from 79.89% to 92.11%. These findings demonstrate that the Team Games Tournament model is effective in enhancing students’ speaking abilities through more interactive and competitive learning. The implication is that this model can serve as an alternative strategy for teaching Bahasa Indonesia, focusing on actively and enjoyably strengthening language skills.

Abstract

The regulation of leave entitlements for State Civil Apparatus (ASN) is a crucial aspect of the public personnel system, aiming to balance individual rights with the smooth operation of government administrative services. This study analyzes public policy concerning ASN leave based on the Circular Letter (SE) of the Governor of Jambi Number 178/SE/BKD-5.2/1/2025. The primary focus lies on the legal review and implementation of the policy within the framework of prevailing legislation, particularly Law Number 5 of 2014 on ASN, Government Regulation Number 94 of 2021 on Civil Servant Discipline, and BKN Regulation Number 24 of 2017 as amended by BKN Regulation Number 7 of 2021. A normative juridical approach was used, analyzing primary and secondary legal materials to evaluate the legal force and administrative implications of the circular. Although a circular letter does not carry binding legal authority equivalent to statutory regulations, it functions as an internal directive that must be adhered to by ASN within the bureaucratic discipline framework. The analysis reveals that the Governor’s Circular strengthens the orderly exercise of ASN leave rights, restricts the use of official facilities during leave, and provides an administrative basis for enforcing discipline and imposing sanctions for violations. Based on the principles of propriety, legal certainty, and good faith, the circular serves as both a preventive and corrective administrative instrument within the civil service legal system. The study concludes that this SE plays a vital role in supporting effective governance, reinforcing ASN discipline, and ensuring public accountability—particularly in managing annual leave and extended holidays within public service sectors.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between self-esteem and codependency within the context of close friendships among Psychology students at Universitas Negeri Padang. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed. The sample consisted of 224 students selected through purposive sampling. Instruments used included a codependency scale based on components developed by Fischer (1991) and a self-esteem scale developed by Rosenberg (1995). Data were analyzed using the Pearson Product-Moment correlation technique. The results revealed a significant negative relationship between self-esteem and codependency, indicating that higher levels of self-esteem are associated with lower tendencies toward codependent behaviors in close friendships, and vice versa. These findings suggest that strengthening self-esteem may serve as a preventive strategy for reducing unhealthy emotional dependence in students’ social relationships. This research contributes to the relational psychology literature and underscores the importance of self-esteem enhancement interventions within the context of higher education.

Abstract

Early adulthood is a life stage closely associated with the formation of social relationships, including marriage, which remains a dominant norm and priority in many societies. However, the past decade has seen a rise in the number of early adult women choosing to remain single, including among the Minangkabau ethnic group. This phenomenon is often accompanied by negative social stigma, such as being labeled “perawan tua” (old maid), which may affect an individual’s psychological well-being. Psychological well-being reflects a person’s positive state in terms of self-acceptance, personal growth, and the ability to build healthy social relationships. This study aims to examine the relationship between social stigma and psychological well-being among unmarried early adult Minangkabau women. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed. The sample consisted of 100 unmarried women aged 25–49 years, selected through purposive sampling based on the Lemeshow sample size formula. Research instruments included a social stigma scale and a psychological well-being scale, analyzed using Pearson’s correlation test. The results revealed a significant positive correlation between social stigma and psychological well-being (r = 0.620; p = 0.001). These findings suggest that higher perceived social stigma is associated with higher psychological well-being, indicating the presence of adaptive mechanisms among single Minangkabau women in responding to stigma. Such mechanisms may foster psychological resilience and self-acceptance. This study contributes to the literature on cultural and gender psychology and offers practical implications for the development of interventions that strengthen self-acceptance and social resilience.

Abstract

Prosocial behavior is a critical foundation for fostering harmonious social relationships, particularly within community settings and educational institutions. Acts such as sharing, helping, and providing emotional support reflect underlying psychological drives and social values shaped through the process of socialization. This study examines prosocial motivation through the lens of contemporary social psychology literature. The review identifies key factors influencing prosocial behavior, including empathy, social norms, religious beliefs, self-efficacy, and the quality of interpersonal relationships. In educational contexts, character education strategies, empathy development, and the implementation of collaborative learning approaches have proven effective in cultivating students’ prosocial tendencies. These findings reinforce the view that prosocial behavior is not instinctive but develops through social learning and the internalization of cultural values, which are reinforced by the surrounding environment. Accordingly, educational institutions and community structures play a pivotal role in shaping individuals with a strong orientation toward social concern.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the contribution of self-efficacy and job demand to turnover intention among Generation Z Account Officers (AOs) at PT X Padang. The high resignation rate among Gen Z employees has become a strategic concern for the company, as it directly affects operational effectiveness and human resource costs. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed. The sample consisted of 120 AOs aged 18–29 years, selected using purposive sampling. The instruments used included the Self-Efficacy Scale (Schwarzer & Jerusalem, 1995), the Job Demand Scale (Bakker & Demerouti, 2014), and the Turnover Intention Scale (Mobley, 1978). Data were analyzed using multiple regression with SPSS version 25. The findings indicate that neither self-efficacy nor job demand—individually or jointly—have a significant effect on turnover intention. The coefficient of determination (R²) was 0.8%, suggesting that these two variables account for only a minimal proportion of the variance in employees’ intention to leave. These results suggest that turnover intention is more strongly influenced by other external factors, such as job satisfaction, career prospects, leadership style, and organizational support. The implications of this study emphasize the need for a holistic managerial approach focused on enhancing the work environment and improving both intrinsic and extrinsic factors to reduce turnover among Gen Z employees.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the influence of self-confidence on student learning outcomes in the Al-Qur’an Hadith subject among seventh-grade students at MTsN 1 Payakumbuh. A quantitative approach was employed, with data collected through questionnaires and observations involving 97 respondents. The results reveal that: (1) students' level of self-confidence falls into the moderate category, with a percentage of 73.19%; (2) student learning outcomes in Al-Qur’an Hadith are classified as very good, with a percentage of 66%; and (3) there is a significant relationship between self-confidence and academic performance. Hypothesis testing yielded a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 and a t-value of 3.851 > tₜₐᵦₗₑ 1.985, leading to the rejection of H₀ and the acceptance of Hₐ. Accordingly, it can be concluded that self-confidence has a positive effect on student learning outcomes, contributing 13.3% to the variance. These findings indicate that reinforcing self-confidence within the learning process can enhance students’ academic achievement in Al-Qur’an Hadith. The implication is that teachers should adopt pedagogical strategies that encourage active participation and foster students’ self-belief in religious education contexts.

Abstract

Education grounded in the teachings of Prophet Muhammad SAW should be capable of addressing humanistic dimensions in a manner relevant to the 21st-century context. This study aims to explore the integration of digital literacy and technology into the transformation of educational methods practiced by Prophet Muhammad SAW, focusing on their relevance to contemporary learning needs. A qualitative-descriptive literature review approach was employed to analyze the Prophet’s educational principles, including effective communication, dialogue-based learning, and character formation. The findings indicate that the Prophet’s contextual, participatory, and interactive teaching methods are highly adaptable to modern digital learning environments. The study also reveals that the use of digital technologies—including online learning platforms and social media—can enhance learners’ collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Despite challenges in implementation, this integration presents opportunities to foster holistic, relevant, and meaningful learning experiences. These findings affirm that applying the educational principles of Prophet Muhammad SAW through digital literacy holds strategic potential for developing an adaptive and transformative education system in the technological era.
