Abstract

This study aims to describe the effectiveness of a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)-based information system in improving the accessibility of collection data at Perpustakaan Universitas Negeri Padang. The background of this research lies in the need for an information system that can provide convenience, speed, and efficiency in the retrieval and management of library collections in the digital era. This study employs a quantitative descriptive method. The findings show that the effectiveness of the RFID-based information system at Perpustakaan Universitas Negeri Padang falls into the very good category, with an average score of 3.36 on an interval scale of 3.28–4.03. These results indicate that the RFID system helps enhance service efficiency, facilitates access to collection data, and improves user satisfaction and experience in obtaining information. Thus, the implementation of the RFID-based information system is considered effective in supporting improved accessibility of collection data and the quality of library services.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the blank map puzzle application as a geography learning medium for Grade XII IPS students at SMA Negeri Titian Teras Jambi and the learning outcomes achieved by the students. The study employs a quantitative approach with an experimental method and a control group pretest–posttest design. The research population comprises all Grade XII IPS students at SMA Negeri Titian Teras Jambi, with Grade XII F-4 students serving as the experimental class and Grade XII F-1 students as the control class. Based on the data analysis, the average geography learning outcomes of students in the experimental class using the blank map puzzle application as a learning medium are higher than those of the control class using conventional media. In addition, there is a difference in learning outcomes between students who follow geography instruction using the blank map puzzle application and those who learn using conventional media. Thus, the implementation of the blank map puzzle application as a geography learning medium is shown to influence students’ learning outcomes.

Abstract

The short story Sebuah Kisah di Candipuro by Budi Darma portrays the life of a rural community that remains bound to tradition and long-standing beliefs amid social change. This study aims to analyze the narrative structure and social reality in the short story using a structural approach and the sociology of literature. A qualitative descriptive method was employed by examining the intrinsic elements of the story and exploring the relationship between the text and the social conditions of the community depicted. The analysis shows that the short story features a forward-moving plot, characters with complex inner conflicts, and a social setting that highlights the tension between rationality and traditional beliefs. From a sociological perspective, the work presents a portrait of the Candipuro community, which continues to be influenced by belief systems, social inequality, and the search for the meaning of life. Thus, the short story reflects the social life of Indonesian society at a crossroads between traditional values and modernity, while simultaneously reaffirming the relevance of literature as a mirror of socio-cultural dynamics.

Abstract

Pesantren, as the oldest and most distinctive Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia, play a central role in shaping character, morals, and the preservation of Islamic values, yet in the midst of modernization and globalization they face various critical problems. This study aims to identify the main challenges faced by pesantren and other Islamic educational institutions, including limited resources (infrastructure, technology, and funding), the relevance of the curriculum in responding to labor market demands, and the need for more dynamic and adaptive educational methodologies. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach based on literature study, this analysis shows that pesantren are required to achieve a balance between the tradition of Kitab Kuning and modernity in the form of mastery of general sciences and technology. The suggested solutions include integrating a comprehensive curriculum that combines Islamic studies with mathematics, science, ICT, and languages; developing problem-based and interactive learning methodologies; and strengthening the economic self-reliance of pesantren. These adaptation efforts are crucial for enabling pesantren to maintain their scholarly identity while making a significant contribution to producing cadres who are mutafaqqih fiddin and competitive in the contemporary era.

Abstract

The extended family plays an important role in early childhood development as a nonformal educational environment that unfolds naturally and continuously. Through interactions with grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins, children receive diverse socio-emotional, language, cognitive, and moral stimulation that supports early character formation and learning capacity. This article discusses the impact, role, and strategies of the extended family in supporting early childhood development, with an emphasis on the dynamics of everyday caregiving within the family environment. The findings indicate that the extended family provides caregiving support, role modeling, and contextual learning experiences, but may also generate problems when caregiving patterns among family members are not aligned. Therefore, strategies such as consistent communication regarding caregiving, the provision of educational play environments, sustained emotional support, collaboration with early childhood education (PAUD) institutions, and positive role modeling by all family members are required. In conclusion, the extended family is a crucial component in holistic child development and a strategic partner for formal educational institutions in optimizing the potential of young children.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the optimization of the role of student facilitators of PUSPAGA in public family services at Balai RW 3, Kelurahan Manukan Wetan, Surabaya. The background of this research lies in the importance of the family as the primary environment for character formation and child protection, as well as the growing complexity of family problems in the city of Surabaya, which demands accessible accompaniment services. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings show that the role of students as facilitators has been optimized through counseling, consultation, referral services, parenting classes, and the implementation of the Puspaga Goes to School and Goes to Community programs. Students play an active role in assisting community members in accessing family services easily and free of charge. However, optimization is still constrained by low community participation and the limited multifunctional space available for service delivery. Overall, the program has operated reasonably well and has had a positive impact on improving literacy and family resilience at the neighborhood (RW) level, while also underscoring the importance of strengthening facilitator capacity and institutional support for the sustainability of community-based family services.

Abstract

Studies on religiosity in Indonesian literature are abundant; however, research that specifically examines the integration of religious symbolism, social critique, and moral messages in the short story Langit Makin Mendung remains limited. This study aims to analyze the religious values, forms of socio-religious critique, and moral messages conveyed by Ki Panjikusmin through a religious literary approach. The research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive design and applies content analysis techniques to the text of the short story. Data were collected through close reading, identification of symbols, characters, and conflicts, and were then interpreted with reference to theories of religious literature. The findings indicate that the short story mobilizes religious symbols, angelic figures, and satirical events to highlight the erosion of faith, abuse of power, and social hypocrisy in society. These results contribute to strengthening theoretical discussions in religious literary studies and deepen the understanding of the relationship between spirituality and social critique in modern Indonesian literature. The study concludes that faith, honesty, and moral responsibility constitute essential foundations for improving religious life and demonstrates the potential of literary works as media for spiritual and moral reflection. The implications include theoretical contributions to the development of religious literary studies and practical benefits for educators and researchers in using literary texts to foster religious and ethical awareness, while also opening avenues for further exploration of religious meaning-making in other satirical literary texts.

Abstract

Philosophical studies of science in Western and Islamic traditions have been widely discussed; however, research that specifically analyzes the fundamental differences in the sources, methods, and aims of knowledge between these two civilizations remains limited. This study aims to identify the fundamental differences in the ontological foundations (the nature of the existence of knowledge), epistemological foundations (sources and means of acquiring knowledge), and axiological foundations (values and purposes of knowledge) within the framework of Western and Islamic philosophy of science. The study employs a comparative analytical method on key concepts in the philosophy of science by examining the relationships between sources of knowledge, the operation of reason and empirical experience, and the value orientations that underlie the aims of scientific development in each tradition. The findings indicate that the Western perspective tends to be dominated by secularism, characterized by the separation of knowledge from religious values, an emphasis on reason and the senses as the primary sources of knowledge, and an orientation of scientific aims toward material progress and the fulfillment of worldly needs. Conversely, in the Islamic perspective, the philosophy of science is grounded in the principle of tauhid, which integrates knowledge with religious teachings; the sources of knowledge encompass not only reason and the senses but also Al-Qur'an and Hadis as the highest sources of truth and guides for human thought, with a more holistic orientation aimed at understanding the greatness of Allah SWT, attaining well-being in this world and the hereafter, and forming morally virtuous human beings. In conclusion, these differences in ontological, epistemological, and axiological frameworks demonstrate that although both traditions produce knowledge, their philosophical foundations and ultimate goals are markedly distinct, thereby providing a more comprehensive understanding of the position and function of knowledge in Western and Islamic civilizations.

Abstract

Literary psychology offers a critical perspective for understanding the psychological complexity of characters in literary works, yet analyses that specifically examine the representation of trauma and inner conflict in Budi Darma’s short story Tangan-Tangan Buntung remain relatively limited. This study aimed to analyze the short story using a psychological approach, focusing on the main character’s mental condition, the dynamics of inner conflict, and the representation of traumatic experiences that shape the character’s behavior and worldview. A qualitative descriptive method was employed through textual analysis, examining narrative structure, symbols, dialogue, and character actions based on concepts of literary psychology. The analysis shows that the main character experiences psychological pressure in the form of anxiety, a persistent sense of threat, and perceptual distortions triggered by traumatic experiences and an unstable environment. These psychological symptoms structure the character’s patterns of interaction with his surroundings and create a narrative atmosphere that is dark, tense, and filled with uncertainty. The findings affirm that through powerful symbolization and characterization, Budi Darma successfully presents a complex representation of the human mental condition in extreme situations, thereby enriching our understanding of the application of literary psychology in the analysis of modern Indonesian short stories.

Abstract

Literary works that represent the lives of the marginalized through a religious perspective play an important role in revealing the relationship between social experience and spirituality, yet studies that specifically examine the construction of religious values in Ahmad Tohari’s short story Harta Gantungan remain relatively limited. This study aims to analyze the religious values in the short story using a religious approach by examining how spiritual, moral, and Islamic teachings are expressed through character depiction, plot, setting, and symbolic elements of the narrative. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method through close reading of the text and interpretation of its embedded meanings. The analysis shows that the elderly woman living in poverty is portrayed as possessing inner wealth through her sincerity (ikhlas), patience (sabar), and piety (taqwa) toward God; the short story reflects Islamic values such as sabar, ikhlas, syukur, qana’ah, and tawakal, which serve as the moral foundation of the main character in facing life’s hardships. In addition, the symbol of the “suspended wealth” (harta gantungan) functions as a spiritual marker of the transience of the material world and the importance of good deeds as provision for the hereafter. With a simple yet deeply meaningful language style, Ahmad Tohari successfully conveys religious messages in a subtle and humanistic manner through the everyday realities of rural communities, thereby enriching the corpus of Indonesian Islamic literature and contributing to the strengthening of religious literary studies rooted in the lives of ordinary people.
