Abstract

This research is motivated by the important role of teachers' professional competence in improving the quality of learning, especially in the development of innovative and contextual learning media. This study aims to describe how teachers at SD Negeri 3 Karangkemojing develop social studies learning media to increase students' understanding and interest in learning. This study uses qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, class observations, and documentation studies, which are analyzed thematically. The results show that even though teachers face limitations in terms of technology and training, they are still able to develop learning media through collaborative strategies, the use of local resources, and the use of simple technology. The conclusion of this study is that the teacher's competence and creativity are the main factors in creating learning media that is interesting, relevant, and contributes to the formation of students' character in accordance with the curriculum. This research is expected to provide implications for elementary school teachers in developing aspects of their professional competence.

Abstract

The use of technology in Islamic Education subjects can provide many significant benefits. Starting from the use of media such as video, audio, and images can help students visualize complex, abstract, and fun religious concepts, making it easier for students to understand learning. This research aims to develop a digital website-based learning media, QURMA (Qudwah Rasulullah Muhammad SAW), which is specifically designed for grade 3 elementary school students. The researchers used the Design and Development (D&D) model method. The research results were obtained after going through a series of processes that the researchers had carried out. The learning media has been in accordance with the assessment obtained from material experts and media experts that the QURMA digital website can be used in the learning process because it has received very good scores in terms of content/material created by the researchers. From the perspective of QURMA digital website users, students and teachers of grade 3 Elementary Schools assessed that the media was very good and should continue to be developed. Thus, the assessment obtained from material experts, media experts, teachers, and grade 3 elementary school students shows that the development of the QURMA digital website is worthy of use.

Abstract

Education aims to enhance the quality of individual lives and provide an understanding of the meaning of life. Studying the reasons and strategies for living a good life makes education a means for individuals to fulfill their responsibilities as stewards on earth. Character education encompasses the application of character values that include aspects of knowledge, will, awareness, and action. The presence of teachers, particularly Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers, significantly influences the success of character formation in students at school. This research aims to determine the implementation of competencies of PAI teachers in shaping student character and the supporting and inhibiting factors in this process. The type of research conducted is qualitative descriptive, with the research subjects consisting of three students, one Guidance and Counseling (BK) teacher, and two PAI teachers at SMA Wahid Hasyim II Taman Sidoarjo. The data collection techniques used include observation, interviews, and documentation, with instruments in the form of observation sheets and interview sheets. In data analysis, the researcher performed data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the analysis indicate that PAI teachers at SMA Wahid Hasyim II Taman Sidoarjo have implemented four competencies, namely pedagogical competence, personality competence, social competence, and professional competence. In addition, there are two factors that influence the formation of students' religious character and discipline, namely internal factors (will, customs/habits, and personality of the students) and external factors (education and environment). This research is expected to serve as a reference for future researchers interested in analyzing the role of teachers in the formation of student character.

Abstract

The use of digital learning media is increasingly widespread in the field of education, including in the teaching of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in traditional classrooms. The aim of this research is to develop interactive and easily accessible digital learning materials using Google Sites that can be utilized by teachers and students. The research and development (R&D) method employed is the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The findings of the research indicate that the web-based learning materials used received positive responses from both educators and students. The validation tests conducted by media experts and content experts demonstrate that this media meets very good feasibility standards. Furthermore, the use of media in classroom learning has a positive impact on students' understanding of PAI material. Thus, this web-based digital learning media can serve as an effective alternative in supporting the learning process in elementary schools.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of empirical studies that connect the implementation of the code of ethics for borrowing and returning with the level of compliance of library users in the public library environment, especially at the Archives and Libraries Office of West Sumatra Province. The purpose of this study is to determine the extent to which the code of ethics for borrowing and returning affects the compliance behavior of library users in using library services. This research uses a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. A sample of 100 respondents was selected from a population of 17,000 users using simple random sampling technique. Data were collected through Google Form-based online questionnaires, observations, and interviews, and analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques and multiple linear regression using SPSS 25. The results showed that both the borrowing and returning codes of conduct had a positive and significant effect on the level of compliance, with the returning code of conduct having a more dominant influence (regression coefficient 1.130 and beta value 0.428). Simultaneously, the two variables explained 36% of the variation in library patron compliance. In conclusion, a clear and consistent implementation of the code of conduct, especially in the aspect of returning collections, contributes significantly to increasing library patron compliance. This study confirms the importance of socializing the rules, the active role of librarians, and strengthening the educational sanction system to form a responsible literacy culture in the library environment.

Abstract

Batik as Indonesia's cultural heritage continues to develop following the dynamics of the times, but exploration of rare flora motifs that are full of meaning is still relatively limited. This research aims to create a contemporary batik motif inspired by the Edelweiss flower, a typical mountain plant that symbolizes eternity and constancy. This research uses the art creation practice method with five stages: preparation, elaboration, synthesis, concept realization, and completion. The subject of the research is the researcher himself with support from the supervisor and direct observation of visual objects. Data were collected through observation, visual documentation, literature study, and process reflection, then analyzed descriptively-qualitatively. The research resulted in seven works of contemporary batik tulis in the form of women's clothing depicting the growth cycle of Edelweiss, from pollination to flower drying. The visualization is realized through a combination of colet and dyeing techniques, as well as harmonious and expressive motif arrangement. Each work elevates the symbolic value of Edelweiss flowers into a communicative and meaningful visual form. In conclusion, the creation of Edelweiss batik motifs in this fashion work proves that rare flora motifs can be appointed as the main inspiration in contemporary batik, as well as a medium of expression of philosophical and reflective values that are relevant to the spirit of nature and culture conservation in the modern era.

Abstract

The utilization of corner services in college libraries, which remains minimal, indicates a gap between the availability of facilities and users' understanding of their functions. This study aims to describe the perceptions of visitors and librarians regarding the presence of corner services at the Information and Library Center of Universitas Negeri Padang by examining three main aspects: cognitive, affective, and conative. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with methods of observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Informants were purposively selected, consisting of librarians and active visitors. Data collection was conducted over two months with the researcher’s direct presence at the location, and data were analyzed through data reduction techniques, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that, cognitively, visitors' understanding of the corner's functions varies, and librarians have not actively engaged in the management of these services. Affective responses indicate interest in the design and themes of the corner; however, a lack of information and guidance has led to dissatisfaction. Conatively, only a portion of visitors actively utilizes the facilities and participates in literacy activities. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that the effectiveness of corner services heavily relies on understanding, librarian involvement, and appropriate promotional strategies to optimally meet users' information needs.

Abstract

The ability to read the Quran in a proper and tajwid-compliant manner is an important foundation in Islamic education. One method that is widely applied in Indonesia to improve the quality of Quranic reading among students is the Tilawati method. This article is a literature review that aims to compile and analyze research findings related to the effectiveness and challenges in the implementation of the Tilawati method in various Islamic educational institutions. Through a qualitative approach and literature study technique, data were collected from scientific journals published over the last five years (2020–2025) that are relevant to the theme. The results indicate that the Tilawati method has high effectiveness in improving Quranic reading ability (85%), recognizing hijaiyah letters (6%), enhancing memorization (6%), and generally improving learning outcomes (3%). However, its implementation faces several obstacles, including low student motivation (40%), time limitations (20%), lack of facilities (20%), and insufficient teacher understanding of this method (20%). This study recommends the need for enhanced teacher training, provision of adequate facilities, and strategies to build student motivation in Quranic learning. With appropriate support, the Tilawati method can be an effective solution in sustainable Quranic literacy education.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the application of the Peer Teaching learning model in increasing student activity in the Al-Qur'an Hadith subject in class XI-7 MAN 1 Bogor City. The background of this study is based on the low student activity in learning the Al-Qur'an Hadith due to the use of conventional methods that do not actively involve students. This study uses a qualitative approach with a classroom action research (CAR) method consisting of two cycles. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the application of the Peer Teaching model can significantly increase student activity, both in terms of asking questions, discussing, and expressing opinions during the learning process. Student activity increased from cycle I to cycle II after improvements were made to the implementation strategy. Thus, the Peer Teaching learning model has proven effective in creating a more interactive, collaborative and meaningful learning atmosphere in the Al-Qur'an Hadith subject.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the quality of higher education in Indonesia, as reflected in the QS Southeast Asia Rankings. This study aims to analyze the quality of higher education in Indonesia based on the results of the QS Southeast Asia ranking and to evaluate policy implications that can support the enhancement of national research quality. The methodology employed in this study is both quantitative and qualitative, utilizing a bibliometric approach. The data sources for this research include reports related to higher education and several pertinent matters, including the findings from discussions within international networks from 2015 to 2024. In the international discussions, the researcher sampled two lecturers from Malaysia and the Philippines, as well as three students from Malaysia and Thailand. The analysis was conducted using the framework developed by B. Miles and A. Huberman. The findings indicate that, although several Indonesian universities occupy strategic positions in the rankings, challenges related to research funding, international collaboration, and scientific publication capacity remain significant obstacles. This study recommends the formulation of policies that focus on enhancing research capacity, providing incentives for international publications, and strengthening global academic networks as strategic measures to increase the competitiveness of Indonesian higher education in both regional and global contexts. The implications of this research can serve as a resource for understanding the quality of education in Indonesia and other countries, enabling the identification of shortcomings and the improvement of educational standards.
