Abstract

The author’s interest in researching on de-radicalization of religion in the literature of islamic boarding school education was driven by the fact that religion de-radicalization are now starting to touch many aspects of society. Religious radicalism is often associated with terrorism, such as suicide bombers under the pretext of jihad (martyrdom), violence in the name of amar maruf-nahy munkar (commanding the good and forbidding the evil), even now starting to organize religious radicalism in the establishment of the state. Ironically, some of the perpetrators of terrorism are graduates of boarding schools. This is due to the fact that there are several texts in the literature of boarding school education that are vulnerable to radical behaviors, such as jihad, commanding the good, or fighting against non-Muslims. It makes boarding schools are negatively affected despite the fact that they are institutions of Islamic education in Indonesia who spread the teachings of Islam which is rahmatan lil Alamin (blessing for the universe), tolerant, and contextual. Therefore, this study wanted to know about de-radicalization of religion in the understanding of texts in the literature of boarding school education, particularly related to the meaning of jihad, commanding the good, and Islam as the blessing for the universe.This research uses library research, which is a pure literature research. This method is used for obtaining data on de-radicalization in the view of boarding schools using descriptive approach. This research is a study on religious teachings in relation to society, nature, character, and the influence of the thoughts and ideas in forming the character of a group.De-radicalization of religion in the literature of boarding schools includes several things. First, boarding schools should not teach jihad with war, but with education. Next, the applications of amar maruf-nahy munkar must be done through certain stages, so that the direction fits the condition of the object of the missionary endeavor. Violence must not be used as long as it is still possible to use subtle ways since violence is only legalized when the situation is extremely urgent.Keywords: De-radicalisation of Religion, Text, Literature, Boarding School

Abstract

Artikel ini menyoroti peran pesantren dalam memahami jihad, yang lebih diprioritaskan pada dunia pendidikan, karena pendidikan diang­gap lebih efektif dan menjanjikan dalam mem­per­siapkan generasi masa depan dalam menye­bar­kan agama Islam. Terbukti, sejak zaman penjajahan sampai sekarang, kiprah pesantren sangat besar dalam sejarah pen­didikan di Indonesia. Banyak alumni-alumni pesantren yang telah berhasil menyebarluaskan ajaran Islam melalui pendidikan, disamping juga berhasil mempertahankan eksistensi akidah Islam dari rongrongan para penjajah.

Abstract

AbstractThis research seeks to reveal the existence of traditional Muslim education institutions, the pesantren salaf. Pesantren salaf becomes a reference to the public. Thousands of the people follow the activities held by the pesantren salaf which is still exist though modern ones providing modern and advances technologies are growing rapidly. The focus of this research is on how the role of Kiai, various values, curriculum, and the devotion of pesantren salaf towards education..The method applied in this study is a qualitative research using a multi- site study design. The findings revealed that the three observed pesantrens are maintaining the existence of pesantren through four ways. They are (1) the role of Kiai; (2) the variety of values in boarding schools , such as religious values, the value of the Salaf, the values of obeying Kiai, the values of learning; and (3) curriculum / Kitab Kuning, like Alfiyah , imrithi , and Fath al-Muin; (4) community services, such as the role of alumni in the community, recitation activities, istighotsah, construction of mosques building mosque and the other public facilities.Keywords: existence , salaf islamic boarding school, modern education AbstrakPenelitian ini berupaya mengungkapkan keberadaan dunia pendidikan tradisional umat Islam, yaitu pesantren salaf. Pesantren salaf masih menjadi rujukan masyarakat, ribuan masyarakat banyak yang mengikuti kegiatan yang diadakan pesantren salaf, seperti pengajian dan istighosah. Di abad modern ini, pondok pesantren salaf masiheksis. Padahal dunia pendidikan modern semakin berkembang yang dibarengi dengan berbagai macam teknologi modern dan canggih. Adapun fokus penelitian ini adalah bagaimana peran kiai, ragam nilai, kurikulum, dan pengabdian pesantren salaf di tengah-tengah arus pendidikan modern. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian iniadalah metode penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan rancangan studi multi situs. Berdasarkan penelitian ditemukan bukti bahwa ketiga pesantren yang diteliti masih eksis. Eksistensi masing-masing pesantren memiliki andil yang cukup besar dalam mempertahankan eksistensi pesantren di tengah-tengah peradaban global. Ketahananpesantren salaf meliputi: (1). Peran kiai (2). Ragam nilai di pesantren, seperti nilai agama, nilai salaf, nilai patuh pada kiai, nilai belajar (3). Kurikulum/ kitab kuning, seperti kitab alfiyah, imrithi, dan fathul muin. (4). Pengabdian masyarakat, seperti peran alumni di masyarakat, kegiatan-kegiatan pengajian, istighotsah bersama masyarakat, bantuan pesantren untuk masyarakat dalam pembangunan masjid dan berbagai fasilitas umum.Kata kunci: eksistensi, pesantren salaf, pendidikan modern

Abstract

Abstract: When boarding schools are faced with community service, some of them are not willing to accept it. Survey of BPPM Maslakul Huda Islamic School, in collaboration with the P3M Jakarta concluded that three (25%) of the 12 pesantrens in Central Java do not receive community service. It is an irony, because pesantren was born and raised from the public. One of pesantrens that was born from community service is PP DawarBoyolali. PP Dawar proved that pesantren had a great contribution to the community. This study wanted to uncover the devotion PP Dawar to community, both in religious and economic empowerment, as well as the main reason of PP Dawar in performing community service. The method used in this study was a qualitative research method using case study design. Based on the research, it was found that PP Dawar was a community-based boarding school which had done community services by performing routine religious activities such as routine verses recitation, recitals of Qur’an for the orphans, and also serving  the demand of societies that need Islamic teachers and religion teachers graduating from PP. DawarBoyolali. PP Dawar also helped the economy of the surrounding communities, by providing cheap labors, helping traditional broom and cracker home industry, and organizing donations to 500 orphans. The ideas or thoughts underlying PP Dawar’sdevotion are a sense of sincerity, an implementation on the religious science, a spirit of self-reliance, and a promotion for PP Dawar Boyolali itself. الملخص: عندما تُوجّه البسانترينات إلى وجود الخدمة الإجتماعية، كان بعضها لم يقبلها. دلّت الدراسة المسحية التي قام بها BPPM بسانترين "مسلك الهدى " بالاشتراك مع P3M جاكرتا على أن 3 أو (%25) من 12 بسانترين في أنحاء جاوة الوسطى لم تقبل الخدمة الإجتماعية. وهذا مؤسف، لأن بسانترين هو مؤسسة تربوية توّلدت وتطوّرت في المجتمع. ومن البسانترينات الذي تولّد من المجتمع هو معهد "داوار " بويولالي جاوة الوسطى. دلّ هذا المعهد على أن بسانترين له دور فعّال واسهام كبير في المجتمع . سيكشف هذا البحث عن الخدمة الإجتماعية التي قام بها هذا المعهد في المجال الديني ومجال ترقية الجانب الإقتصادي والأسباب الدافعة له في القيام بهذه الخدمة. سلك هذا البحث منهج البحث الكيفي بنوع دراسة حالة. دلّت نتائج البحث على أن معهد " داوار " هو البسانترين المؤسس على المجتمع ويقوم بالخدمة الإجتماعية في شكل المحاضرات الدينية المكثّفة، والمحاضرات الدينية في مناسبة " Yatiman”   وإرسال الدعاة والأساتذة للجهات المحتاجة إليهم وهم متخرّجو معهد "داوار" نفسه. ولهذا المعهد اسهام اقتصادي في المجتمع المحيط به بإعداد العمّال بأجرة رخيصة (صناعة منزلية) كصناعة المكنسات والأطعمة الإندونيسية وكفالة الأيتام (  500يتيم ) . والأسس الفكرية لهذه الخدمة – التي قام بها المعهد داوار - هي الإخلاص ونشر العلوم الدينية وروح الإعتماد على النفس والدعايات والتعريف بالمعهد.   Abstrak: Ketika pesantren dihadapkan dengan pengabdian masyarakat, beberapa pesantren belum dapat menerima. Survey BPPM Pesantren Maslakul Huda, bekerja sama dengan P3M Jakarta menyimpulkan bahwa 3 (25%) dari 12 pesantren se-Jawa Tengah tidak menerima pengabdian masyarakat. Sungguh ironis, karena pesantren merupakan pendidikan yang lahir dan besar dari masyarakat. Salah satu pesantren yang lahir dari pengabdian masyarakat adalah PP Dawar Boyolali, PP Dawar membuktikan bahwa peran pesantren sangat besar dalam berkontribusi di tengah masyarakat. Penelitian ini ingin mengungkap pengabdian PP Dawar, baik dalam keagamaan maupun pemberdayaan ekonomi, serta alasan utama PP Dawar melakukan pengabdian pada masyarakat. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan rancangan studi kasus. Berdasarkan penelitian, ditemukan bukti bahwa PP Dawar adalah pesantren berbasis masyarakat, yaitu dengan melaksanakan pengabdian keagamaan seperti pengajian rutin, pengajian yatiman, juga melayani permintaan masyarakat yang membutuhkan ustadz atau guru agama lulusan PP Dawar Boyolali. PP Dawarjuga ikut membantu ekonomi masyarakat sekitar, yaitu menyediakan tenaga murah, membantu home industry pembuatan sapu, krupuk, dan menyelenggarakan santunan 500 anak yatim. Pemikiran yang mendasari Pengabdian PP Dawar adalah rasa keikhlasan, mengamalkan ilmu agama, semangat kemandirian, dan promosi bagi PP Dawar Boyolali.

Abstract

Abstract: Religious moderation discourse in Indonesia has recently attracted the attention of many parties, especially academics. Moderation means in the middle-center, neither to the right nor the left. In religious issues, religious moderation does not involve radicalism, fundamentalism, and liberalism. It is congruous for religious higher education to be a laboratory of religious moderation. It embeds national ideas, critical thinking constructs, multiculturalism values cultivation, and the peaceful delivery of spiritual messages. This research discusses the implementation of religious moderation at IAIN Surakarta. The internalization of moderation values to students is channeled through Bilik Moderasi Islam dan Adab (BIMA) of the Faculty of Adab and Language. This study employed descriptive qualitative methods with progress reports. It concluded the existence of several channels of moderation at the institutional level. BIMA became one of the pioneers of the religious moderation movement in the faculty. The prevention of radicalism was done in some ways. They establish moderation insight courses, conduct monthly studies on moderation, and create moderation digital creative content. Not only that but also BIMA certificates became the requirement of munaqosah. Besides, the progress report of the moderation index measurement showed the effect of BIMA coaching on the increase in the student moderation index. Based on the survey, most students also suggested maintaining the religious moderation education.الملخص: استحوذ الحديث عن الاعتدال الديني في إندونيسيا مؤخرا على اهتمام العديد من الأطراف والأحزاب، خاصة  الأكاديميين. تحتوي كلمة الاعتدال على معنى الوسط، ولا يتعدى إلى اليمين أو إلى اليسار. عندما يرتبط الأمر بالقضايا الدينية، فإن ممارسة الاعتدال الديني هي السلوك والتصرف الذي لا يتبع التطرف والأصولية والليبرالية. الجامعة الإسلامية مناسبة جدا لتكون مختبرا للاعتدال الديني. فالجامعة الإسلامية هي المكان تصدر ة تنمو منه  الأفكار الوطنية، وبناء التفكير النقدي، وتنمية قيم التعددية الثقافية، والتسليم السلمي للرسائل الدينية. يناقش هذا البحث تنفيذ الاعتدال الديني في جامعة سوراكارتا الإسلامية الحكومية. من خلال وحدة Bilik Islam Moderasi dan Adab (IMAB) التابع لكلية الآداب واللغات، يتم توجيه استيعاب قيم الاعتدال للطلاب. مع أساليب وصفية نوعية مع تقارير مرحلية،أدى هذا البحث إلى الانتهاء  من عدة قنوات للاعتدال على المستوى المؤسسي وأصبح BIMA  أحد رواد  حركة الاعتدال الديني في الكلية. أصبحت الجهود المبذولة لمنع التطرف من خلال إنشاء دورات رؤية الاعتدال ، والدراسات الشهرية تحت عنوان الاعتدال ، وإنشاء  منتجات المحتوى الإبداعي الرقمي الاعتدال  وشهادات IMAB شرطا لجلسات مناقشة البحث العلمي.  ويبين التقرير المرحلي لقياس مؤشر الاعتدال تأثير تدريب IMAB على الزيادة في مؤشر اعتدال الطلاب، واستنادا إلى مسح غالبية الطلاب الذين يرغبون في الحفاظ على تعليم الاعتدال الديني.Abstrak: Diskursus moderasi beragama di Indonesia belakangan ini menyita perhatian banyak pihak khususnya kalangan akademisi. Kata moderasi mengandung makna tengah-tengah, tidak ekstrem ke kanan atau ke kiri. Jika dikaitkan dengan persoalan agama, praktik moderasi beragama itu bersikap dan berperilaku yang tidak mengikuti radikalisme, fundamentalisme dan liberalisme. Pendidikan Tinggi Keagamaan sangat tepat menjadi laboratorium moderasi beragama. Perguruan tinggi keagamaan sejatinya menjadi lahan tersemainya gagasan kebangsaan, konstruk pemikiran kritis, penanaman nilai-nilai multikulturalisme dan penyampaian pesan agama yang damai. Penelitian ini membahas tentang implementasi moderasi beragama di IAIN Surakarta. Melalui unit Bilik Moderasi Islam dan Adab (BIMA) Fakultas Adab dan Bahasa, maka internalisasi nilai-nilai moderasi kepada mahasiswa disalurkan. Dengan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan progress report, penelitian ini menghasilkan kesimpulan adanya beberapa saluran moderasi di tingkat institusi dan BIMA menjadi salah satu pelopor gerakan moderasi beragama di fakultas. Upaya pencegahan radikalisme dilakukannya melalui   penetapan mata kuliah wawasan moderasi, kajian bulanan bertemakan moderasi, pembuatan produk konten kreatif digital moderasi dan sertifikat BIMA menjadi syarat untuk sidang munaqosah. Adapun progress report pengukuran indeks moderasi menunjukkan aadanya pengaruh pembinaan BIMA terhadap kenaikan indeks moderasi mahasiswa dan berdasar survei mayoritas mahasiswa menginginkan edukasi moderasi beragama terus dipertahankan.

Abstract

Abstrak: Kelompok radikal kerap menyerang ormas Islam yang tidak sependapat dengan mereka, termasuk pesantren. Pemahaman kebangsaan pesantren dengan kaum radikal bertolak belakang. Kaum radikal anti nasionalisme, sedangkan pesantren sangat erat dengan nasionalisme. Dalam hal ini, Pesantren Lirboyo memiliki sebuah kitab yang berjudul al-Difâ‘ ‘ani al Wathân min Ahammi al-Wâjibât ‘ala Kulli Wâhidin Minnâ. Tulisan ini merupakan hasil penelitian tentang konsep, aplikasi, dan urgensi pendidikan kebangsaan pada kitab tersebut. Berdasarkan penelitian, konsep pendidikan kebangsaan adalah media dan sarana untuk menjaga persatuan dan kesatuan NKRI. Aplikasi pendidikan kebangsaan adalah menerapkan kaidah pendidikan kebangsaan, yaitu memperkokoh persatuan, memperkuat keamanan, menegakkan kemaslahatan, dan menanamkan rasa cinta tanah air.Abstract: Pesantren and Education of Nationality: Study Against al-Difâ‘ ‘ani al Wathân min Ahammi al-Wâjibât ‘ala Kulli Wâhidin Minnâ by Kiai Muhammad Said. Radical group often attacks against Islamic organizations that disagree with them, including pesantren. The understanding of pesantren with radical groups in the concept of nationality is contradictory. Radical group is anti nationalism, while pesantren is very close with nationalism. In this case, Pesantren Lirboyo has a book entitled al-Difâ‘ ‘ani al Wathân min Ahammi al-Wâjibât ‘ala Kulli Wâhidin Minnâ. This paper is the result of a research on the concept, application, and urgency of nationality education in the book of al-Difâ‘. Based on the research, the concept of nationality education is the media to maintain the unity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. The application of nationality education is applying the rules of nationality education, namely strengthening unity, strengthening security, upholding benefits, and instilling a sense of loving the homeland.Kata Kunci: radikalisme, negara, politik, pendidikan, pesantren

Abstract

Artikel ini terinspirasi dari pernyataan KH. Said Aqil Siroj yang memerintahkan kepada segenap generasi muda untuk melakukan jihad online. Jihad online amat penting untuk mengcounter banyaknya hoax, fitnah, dan ujaran kebencian. Tujuannya adalah agar mampu melestarikan aqidah Aswaja, dan tentunya menjaga keutuhan NKRI. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pengertian jihad dalam istilah syariat dapat dimaknai sebagai perjuangan (bukan hanya peperangan) untuk menegakkan kebenaran dalam menjunjung tinggi agama Islam, termasuk jihad online. Aplikasi jihad online dalam perspektif pesantren dilakukan dengan menyampaikan argumentasi yang benar (iqomatul hujjaj)/(diagnosis), retorika yang santun (Dakwah Bil Hikmah Wal Mauidzotil Hasanah)/(prognosis), dan menyuarakan Islam yang rahmatan lil alamin (motivasional), Tujuan dari jihad online adalah media untuk menegakkan agama Islam dan sarana untuk mendapat Ridha Allah SWT.
