Abstract

Happiness is a vital aspect of adolescent life, particularly for junior high school students who are undergoing a transitional phase in psychological and social development. In Indonesian society, where the majority of the population is Muslim, daily religious practices serve not only as spiritual activities but also as integral components of a lifestyle that influences emotional well-being. This study aims to identify the effect of daily worship frequency on the happiness levels of Muslim students at SMP Al-Khairiyah, North Jakarta. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was employed, involving 60 students selected through proportional stratified sampling. Data were collected using indicators of daily worship frequency and The Oxford Happiness Questionnaire (OHQ), and analyzed using simple linear regression. The results indicate that the frequency of daily worship contributes significantly to the happiness of Muslim students, accounting for 17.1% of the variance. These findings affirm that daily religious practice plays an important role in supporting the psychological well-being of Muslim adolescents. The implication is that schools should encourage and integrate worship habits within the educational environment as a strategy to enhance students’happiness and emotional balance.

Abstract

The Fourth Industrial Revolution presents significant challenges to the workforce, as many conventional jobs are being replaced by automation and digitalization, necessitating adjustments in vocational training systems. This study aims to examine the stages of vocational training curriculum development in electrical engineering at the Center for Vocational Training and Productivity Development (Balai Besar Pelatihan Vokasi dan Produktivitas/BBPVP) Serang in response to the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. A qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews with the Sub-Coordinator of Competency Development at Intala and electrical engineering instructors, as well as through document analysis. The findings reveal that curriculum development begins with identifying training needs through a Training Need Analysis (TNA), which is then formulated into training programs. The study also identifies several challenges in curriculum implementation, including limited instructor competencies in keeping pace with technological advancements and the mismatch between available training equipment and current industry requirements. These findings underscore the importance of strategies to enhance instructor capacity and strengthen collaboration between training institutions and industry to produce vocational curricula that are both adaptive and technologically relevant.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited use of technology-based assessment media in Islamic Religious Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam/PAI), particularly on the topic of rukhsah, at SMP Negeri 1 Kudus. The aim of the research is to analyze the implementation of summative assessment using Quizizz to enhance student engagement and understanding of the material. A qualitative approach with a phenomenological design was employed, involving 27 students from Class 7H as subjects. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that the use of Quizizz as a digital summative assessment tool creates a competitive, enjoyable, and interactive learning environment. Features such as randomized questions, time limits, automated scoring, and appealing visual design were found to boost students’ motivation and participation in the assessment process. Feedback from both teachers and students indicated that ease of access and time efficiency are key advantages of the platform. Despite technical challenges such as limited devices and internet connectivity, Quizizz-based assessments remained effective when supported by proper technical planning. This study contributes to the development of digital summative assessments in PAI learning and recommends the expansion of formative and diagnostic assessments using similar platforms to foster a more adaptive, engaging, and meaningful learning experience in alignment with the Kurikulum Merdeka framework.

Abstract

This study explores the approach of contemporary Islamic educators in delivering spiritual education to the general public, particularly in response to the challenges posed by modernity, including secularism, materialism, and hedonism. These trends have contributed to the erosion of religious authority, reducing it to a symbolic formality, and while religious affiliation has grown quantitatively, the depth of spiritual engagement has not shown corresponding development. This phenomenon is partly attributed to the inability of educators to engage the spiritual dimensions of their audiences effectively. Employing a qualitative-descriptive method grounded in literature review, this study examines the spiritual educational philosophy of al-Ghazālī as a foundational reference in Islamic pedagogy. Al-Ghazālī advocates for an integrative model of education that harmonizes reason, Islamic law (sharia), and Sufism, emphasizing the purification of the soul as a prerequisite for meaningful learning. The analysis reveals that al-Ghazālī's educational paradigm offers relevant solutions to contemporary spiritual disconnection, providing a framework capable of addressing the inner dimensions of individuals in modern society. Consequently, his approach presents a viable alternative for enhancing the spiritual quality of public religious education in the current era.

Abstract

The Independent Curriculum (Kurikulum Merdeka) introduces a new educational paradigm in Indonesia that emphasizes learner autonomy and student-centered approaches. This study investigates the implementation of Islamic Education (PAI) assessments under the Independent Curriculum at SMA Negeri 3 Sampit, focusing on the processes of planning, implementation, and evaluation. A qualitative case study design was employed, with data collected through observations, in-depth interviews with key stakeholders, and document analysis. Data validation was conducted using source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that PAI assessment implementation comprises three core stages: planning, which includes the preparation of the School Operational Curriculum (KOSP) and thematic teaching modules; implementation, which integrates both intracurricular learning and Proyek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5); and evaluation, which includes formative and summative assessments. Formative assessments are conducted through observation, portfolios, and project-based evaluations, while summative assessments utilize tools such as case study-based tests to measure final student competencies. The main challenges identified include limited teacher readiness, adherence to conventional assessment mindsets, and insufficient understanding of holistic evaluation practices. Despite these challenges, the school demonstrates adaptive strategies by developing assessment rubrics that integrate cognitive, spiritual, and social domains. These efforts reflect a broader institutional commitment to the core principles of the Independent Curriculum and the advancement of authentic, student-centered Islamic education.

Abstract

Curriculum transformation in the digital revolution era demands rapid adaptation from educators, including teachers of Islamic Religious Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam, PAI). In this context, it is essential to understand teachers' perceptions of the new curriculum dynamics and the challenges associated with its implementation. This study aims to explore the perspectives of PAI teachers in West Sumatra regarding curriculum changes and to identify barriers to integrating technology and artificial intelligence (AI) into the learning process. A quantitative approach was employed, with data collected through a structured questionnaire. The results show that over 76% of PAI teachers hold a positive attitude toward curriculum changes. However, they face several implementation challenges, including limited training in technology, restricted access to digital learning resources, and a lack of institutional support. These findings underscore the need for a more holistic curriculum development strategy, which includes strengthening educators’ capacities through continuous professional training and the provision of adequate supporting infrastructure. This study offers valuable insights for policymakers and educational institutions in designing an adaptive PAI curriculum aligned with the demands of the digital age.

Abstract

The strategic role of teachers as curriculum implementers positions them as key agents in addressing the dynamics of contemporary education, including the implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka, the integration of Islamic values, and the reinforcement of 21st-century competencies. This study aims to examine the extent to which teachers’ understanding of curriculum functions influences the effectiveness of the teaching and learning process at MAN 1 Kota Payakumbuh. A quantitative approach was employed using a descriptive-correlational method. Data were collected through a closed-ended questionnaire and analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment statistical technique. The results reveal a very strong and significant relationship between teachers’ understanding of curriculum functions and learning effectiveness, with a correlation value of r = 0.752 and significance level of p < 0.01. These findings indicate that a deep understanding of the structure, objectives, and implementation of the curriculum contributes to the creation of a structured, interactive, and meaningful learning process. Therefore, strengthening teachers' capacity in curriculum comprehension is a strategic step toward improving the quality of education in madrasah settings.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of Islamic educational values into an inclusive curriculum framework for children with disabilities, aiming to promote fair, comprehensive, and transformative education. As Indonesia increasingly recognizes the importance of inclusive education, there is a growing need for approaches that address not only academic but also spiritual and social dimensions. Employing a literature review methodology, the research analyzes scholarly articles, books, and official reports sourced from databases such as Google Scholar, JSTOR, and ProQuest. The analysis identifies three essential components for designing an inclusive curriculum grounded in Islamic values: (1) academic content tailored to the diverse needs of students with disabilities, (2) reinforcement of core Islamic principles such as patience, justice, empathy, and inclusiveness, and (3) pedagogical strategies that promote active participation and equity in the learning environment. While challenges such as limited resources and social stigma persist, opportunities exist in the form of teacher training, cross-sector collaboration, and supportive educational policies. The study underscores the potential of Islamic values to serve as a foundational framework for inclusive curriculum development in Indonesia, contributing to a more holistic and equitable educational system.

Abstract

The ‘durian generation,' like the current generation, has a critical, independent, and adaptive character to technological developments but is at risk of lacking spiritual depth and moderate moral values. Religious education, especially through Akidah Akhlak learning, is very important to form a balanced character based on Islamic values. This research aims to analyze the character of the durian generation and explore the role of Akidah Akhlak teachers in forming the character of students at MIN 1 Yogyakarta so that they can create a generation that is not only intelligent and critical but also has noble and moderate morals. The researchers used a qualitative research method through a literature review and observation of the practice of learning Akidah Akhlak in this school. Data were analyzed thematically to identify the characteristics of the durian generation and the role of teachers in character formation. The research results showed that Akidah Akhlak teachers play a strategic role as character-forming agents by implementing contextual learning methods and innovative media according to the character of the durian generation. Effective character formation includes the integration of the values of moderation, tolerance, and noble morals so that students can develop into individuals who are balanced between intellectual, spiritual, and social. The challenges and opportunities that exist can be overcome with the creativity and commitment of teachers in adjusting learning methods to the dynamics of the times.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the marginalization of regional languages, largely driven by the influence of social media, education, and entertainment, factors that have become major contributors to language shift. Medan, as a multicultural metropolitan city, faces similar challenges. The aim of this research is to prevent further shifts in regional language, literature, and script, which could significantly impact cultural preservation, as language is closely intertwined with culture. A qualitative approach was employed, utilizing interviews and observations with several families in Medan. The findings reveal that the family holds a strategic position as the primary and most influential agent in the transmission of regional languages. The role of families in preserving regional languages among children in the modern era is crucial. By actively using the regional language, introducing local wisdom, and instilling cultural values, families can maintain children’s cultural identity and help preserve regional cultural heritage. The study in Medan shows that families or parents who actively use regional languages in daily communication and instill local cultural values make a significant contribution to the language’s continued existence. Conversely, when children are not exposed to their regional language and culture in everyday life, the language faces the risk of extinction. This research highlights the importance of family awareness and commitment to continuously use and teach regional languages as part of a cultural legacy that must be preserved and passed on to future generations.
