Abstract

Family education plays a pivotal role in children’s moral development because the family functions as the primary and central locus of education from birth. This study aims to analyze the role of family education in shaping children’s morals from an Islamic perspective, with a specific focus on its underlying concepts, educational methods, and developmental stages. Employing a library research methodology, the study reviews and synthesizes relevant books, journal articles, and scholarly works on family education and children’s morals in Islam. The findings indicate that Islamic family education is grounded in Qur’anic and Hadith values, positioning parents as primary educators and role models in instilling faith, worship, and moral conduct. Moral formation is carried out through complementary educational approaches, including exemplification, habituation, advice, and educative rewards and punishments, which together support the internalization of moral and spiritual values. Furthermore, effective moral education in the family must be aligned with children’s developmental stages to ensure that messages and practices are appropriate and impactful. The study concludes that conscious, directed, and continuous family education makes a substantial contribution to fostering faithful, morally upright, and socially responsible children, thereby reinforcing the central role of the family in Islamic education and highlighting the need for strengthening value-based parenting practices.

Abstract

This study examines institutional integration from the perspective of the philosophy of science, an approach that has rarely been explored in depth, even though integration efforts to date have largely focused on managerial and structural aspects. In this context, a philosophical understanding of the epistemological, ontological, and axiological foundations underlying integration processes becomes crucial for achieving institutional sustainability and excellence. The study aims to analyze how principles of the philosophy of science can shape more coherent and effective institutional integration strategies, particularly in the domains of education and innovative governance. This research adopts a philosophical literature study and conceptual analysis approach to explore how epistemological convergence, ontological alignment, and axiological cohesion can serve as key pillars in building holistically integrated institutions. The findings indicate that institutional integration grounded in a robust philosophical understanding can generate deeper synergy, overcome knowledge fragmentation, and strengthen institutional identity. These results contribute significantly to the development of institutional integration theory by offering a more comprehensive framework, while also providing practical implications for leaders and policymakers in designing adaptive and future-oriented integration strategies. The study further opens avenues for continued exploration of institutional integration models informed by the philosophy of science framework across various types of organizations.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of syllogism—a deductive reasoning framework originating from Aristotle—into Islamic Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam/PAI), specifically within Aqidah (creed), Akhlaq (morality), and Fiqh (jurisprudence) to foster rational and reflective learning. The objective is to demonstrate how syllogistic reasoning enables students to move from dogmatic acceptance toward a logically grounded understanding of Islamic faith, ethics, and law. Employing a qualitative literature review methodology, the research synthesizes classical Islamic texts (including works on qiyas) and contemporary pedagogical scholarship, which are analyzed descriptively to map conceptual linkages between syllogism and PAI learning domains. The findings indicate that in Aqidah, syllogism strengthens faith in tauhid (monotheism) by structuring rational argumentation through premise-based inference; in Akhlaq, it connects faith to moral conduct by formulating ethical syllogisms that clarify the logical basis of virtuous behavior; and in Fiqh, it parallels qiyas by deriving specific legal rulings from general principles and universal evidences. Collectively, these applications show that syllogism can balance cognitive rigor with spiritual depth, rendering PAI more critical, dialogical, and contextually relevant. The study concludes that syllogism offers an integrative pedagogical model for contemporary Islamic education that supports the holistic development of individuals who are faithful, knowledgeable, and morally upright.

Abstract

Although students’ critical thinking skills have received wide attention in educational research, studies that specifically examine the implementation of the POE2WE learning model at the senior high school level remain relatively limited. This study aimed to analyze the effect of the POE2WE learning model on the critical thinking skills of Grade XI students at SMAN 8 Mataram in the 2025/2026 academic year. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method was employed, using a pretest–posttest control group design involving 64 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using an essay test consisting of five items that had been tested for validity and reliability, then analyzed through normality and homogeneity tests, followed by hypothesis testing using a t-test at a 0.05 significance level. The results showed a statistically significant difference in critical thinking skills between students taught using the POE2WE learning model and those receiving conventional instruction, with a significance value of 0.004 (< 0.05). These findings contribute to the development of constructivist learning theory and provide empirical support for the effectiveness of the POE2WE model in enhancing students’ critical thinking skills in the senior high school context. The study concludes that the POE2WE learning model plays an important role in developing critical thinking skills and deserves consideration as an alternative instructional approach in classroom practice.

Abstract

Although the development of responsible behavior in early childhood has received considerable attention in character education research, studies that specifically examine the use of the Buku Pilar Karakter as an instructional medium for teaching responsibility to children aged 5–6 years within a classroom action research (Penelitian Tindakan Kelas, PTK) framework remain limited. This study aimed to improve responsible behavior among children aged 5–6 years through reading activities using the Buku Pilar Karakter at KB Cahaya Pelita, Sirkandi Village. The study employed a qualitative-descriptive approach with a classroom action research design involving 25 children selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using an observation sheet on responsible behavior encompassing three indicators—recalling, demonstrating, and evidencing responsibility—as well as documentation in the form of photographs and videos of the learning activities. The data were analyzed quantitatively using percentage techniques to assess the level of children’s developmental achievement. The results showed a significant increase across all indicators of responsible behavior, with average scores rising from 1.88–2.04 in the initial observations to 3.64–3.68 in Reflection II, and more than 80% of children reaching the “Very Well Developed” category. These findings contribute to the development of early childhood character education theory and broaden understanding of the effectiveness of story-based moral learning media. The study concludes that the use of contextual and engaging instructional media, such as the Buku Pilar Karakter, is essential for fostering responsible behavior in early childhood and recommends that early childhood education (PAUD) teachers integrate it into daily learning as part of efforts to enhance the quality of social-emotional education. The implications of this research encompass theoretical contributions to character education studies and practical implications for early childhood education institutions, while also opening opportunities for further research on strengthening other character values through similar learning media.

Abstract

Multigenerational living arrangements, particularly co-residence with in-laws, are prevalent in rural Indonesia, driven by filial piety, economic considerations, and the need for elder care amid ongoing urbanization; however, empirically grounded analyses of culturally attuned mechanisms that sustain household harmony in such settings remain limited. This study examines strategies for maintaining household harmony in a multigenerational co-residence through the case of Mama Ira’s family in Dusun Jati Gabahan, with a specific focus on how religious values such as birrul walidain are integrated into everyday family dynamics. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation from three purposively selected informants (Mama Ira, her husband, and her in-laws), and analyzed thematically with source triangulation to ensure validity. The findings indicate that voluntary co-residence is primarily motivated by moral responsibility and emotional support, and is sustained by flexible division of roles—where in-laws contribute through trading and childcare while the nuclear family manages domestic tasks—alongside clear financial boundaries, open communication, and spousal consultation in resolving conflicts. Religious practices, including mutual reminders for prayer and shared Quranic study, reinforce harmony through the internalization of sabr (patience) and tasamuh (tolerance), while parental authority (aulawiyah) serves to balance differences in childrearing approaches. These dynamics collectively exemplify keluarga sakinah, fostering spiritual cohesion and minimizing resentment, and offer contextually grounded insights for family scholars and policymakers seeking to promote intergenerational solidarity through equitable role arrangements, communicative boundaries, and faith-based resilience in collectivist societies.

Abstract

The issue of sustainable energy use has been widely discussed in environmental and global ethics studies; however, scholarship that specifically examines the ethical foundations of energy use from the perspectives of the Qur’an and As-Sunnah remains relatively limited and has not yet been systematically integrated. This study aimed to analyze the principles of energy-use ethics in Islam and their implications for human behavior and energy resource management policies. The study employed a qualitative approach with a library research design, drawing data from primary sources in the form of relevant Qur’anic verses and Prophetic hadith, as well as secondary sources including tafsir works, hadith commentaries, and contemporary scholarly literature addressing environmental and energy ethics. Data were analyzed using thematic and hermeneutic analysis to trace the normative and contextual meanings of religious texts. The findings indicate that the Qur’an and As-Sunnah emphasize the principles of amanah, justice, balance (mīzān), the prohibition of isrāf (wastefulness), and responsibility as khalifah in energy use. These findings contribute to the development of an energy ethics framework grounded in Islamic values and broaden understanding of the relationship between religious teachings and sustainability issues. The study concludes that internalizing Islamic ethical values in energy governance plays an important role in promoting just and sustainable energy use; therefore, governments, educational institutions, and policy stakeholders need to integrate these principles into energy policy formulation. The implications include a theoretical contribution to the development of Islamic ethics and environmental studies, practical implications for value-based sustainable development, and openings for further research on implementing Islamic energy ethics in public policy and modern industrial practice.

Abstract

Although the concept of nashk (nasakh) has been a topic of inquiry in Islamic jurisprudence, research that specifically examines its implications within the Sunnah and its influence on Qur’anic tafsīr remains relatively limited. This study aimed to analyze the role of nashk in the Sunnah and its implications for legal determination and Qur’anic tafsīr. A qualitative approach was employed using a library study design focused on analysis of the Qur’an, hadith, and relevant classical and contemporary tafsīr works. The findings show that nashk is an important component in understanding the development of Islamic law because it reflects the flexibility and adaptive capacity of Islamic jurisprudence to changing social and historical contexts. In addition, nashk plays a significant role in Qur’anic interpretation by influencing both the evolving legal principles and the methodologies applied by scholars in understanding religious texts. This study contributes to a broader understanding of the application of nashk and offers new insights into its dynamic impact on legal theory and Qur’anic tafsīr. The study concludes that nashk is essential for maintaining the integrity of Islamic law while enabling its adjustment to contemporary challenges, and it encourages scholars to consider its implications in the context of modern legal issues and Qur’anic interpretation.

Abstract

Although the relationship between the Qur’an and the history of human civilization has received attention in various Islamic and historical studies, research that specifically integrates Qur’anic perspectives and archaeological findings within a single interdisciplinary framework remains limited. This study aimed to analyze the contribution of an interdisciplinary approach between the Qur’an and archaeology to understanding the history of human civilization and its implications for the historical interpretation of Qur’anic verses. The study employed a qualitative approach with a library research design, using primary sources in the form of Qur’anic verses related to narratives of past civilizations and secondary sources consisting of archaeological data documented in scholarly literature. Data were collected through document review and analyzed using thematic-comparative analysis. The findings indicate that archaeological discoveries, such as ancient settlement sites, cultural artifacts, and evidence of civilizational collapse, correspond with Qur’anic narratives about earlier peoples, including the ‘Ād, Thamūd, and Fir‘aun. These findings strengthen the understanding that the Qur’an functions not only as a theological text but also has historical and civilizational dimensions that are relevant to modern scholarly inquiry. The study concludes that integrating Qur’anic and archaeological approaches is important for developing a more comprehensive understanding of the history of human civilization. The implications include a theoretical contribution to the development of thematic-historical tafsīr studies and practical implications for advancing Islamic education grounded in knowledge integration, while also opening opportunities for further research on dialogue between revelation and science in the context of history and civilization.

Abstract

Although the concept of naskh (legal abrogation) has long been a focus in Islamic legal studies, research that specifically addresses the implications of naskh in the Sunnah for Islamic law (fiqh) and Qur’anic exegesis remains limited and fragmented. This study aimed to analyze the theoretical foundations of naskh in the Sunnah, evaluate its practical implications for legal istinbāṭ, and explore its hermeneutic impact on Qur’anic interpretation. The study employed a qualitative approach with a systematic literature review design, involving 131 scholarly works selected through a comprehensive search of academic databases (SciSpace, Google Scholar), which were then thematically analyzed to identify key debates, classifications, and methodological frameworks. Data were analyzed using content analysis and a comparative juridical method to synthesize classical and contemporary perspectives. The findings show that naskh in the Sunnah operates as a complex hermeneutic instrument with significant implications: (1) it influences the legal validity derived from hadith, (2) it generates methodological challenges in chronological verification, and (3) it shapes interpretive approaches to resolving textual contradictions. These findings contribute to the development of uṣūl al-fiqh methodology and broaden understanding of the Sunnah–Qur’an relationship in Islamic legal theory. The study concludes by emphasizing the importance of rigorous chronological-contextual analysis in validating naskh claims and encouraging contemporary jurists to adopt evidence-based and transparent abrogation methodologies. The implications include a theoretical contribution to the development of Islamic hermeneutics and practical implications for legal scholars, muftī, and educational institutions in formulating more nuanced approaches to textual interpretation, while also opening opportunities for further exploration of empirical case studies of hadith considered mansūkh and their contemporary juridical applications.
