Abstract

Twenty-first-century learning demands instructional models that foster critical thinking skills and the use of technology, making Problem Based Learning (PBL) particularly relevant, especially when supported by artificial intelligence (AI)-based media such as Microsoft Sway, which has the potential to enhance both the quality of learning processes and outcomes. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of PBL assisted by AI-based Microsoft Sway media on Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) learning outcomes among students at SMP Negeri 6 Salatiga. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design involving an experimental class and a control class determined through cluster sampling. The research instrument consisted of a learning outcomes test, and data were analyzed using an independent-sample t-test and N-Gain analysis. The results showed a significance value of 0.013 (p < 0.05) and N-Gain scores of 63% in the experimental class and 47% in the control class, indicating a greater improvement in learning outcomes for the group taught using PBL supported by AI-based Microsoft Sway. These findings are consistent with Vygotsky’s scaffolding theory within the zone of proximal development (ZPD), which posits that adaptive support from both media and teachers helps students overcome learning difficulties more quickly and in a more targeted manner, thereby enabling optimal development of learning potential. The study is limited by its sample size, the single-school context, and its focus on cognitive aspects, thus calling for further research with broader variables and settings. Overall, the study concludes that the PBL model assisted by AI-based Microsoft Sway media is effective in improving PAI learning outcomes at SMP Negeri 6 Salatiga and underscores the importance of integrating AI media into PBL to support more interactive and effective learning, while providing practical guidance for educators and schools in developing more varied instructional models and media.

Abstract

The low learning outcomes in Fiqih are still largely associated with conventional teaching methods that limit active student participation, thereby highlighting the need for the implementation of innovative, game-based instructional strategies. This study aimed to analyze the effect of Game-Based Learning (GBL) on the learning outcomes of Grade XI students at MA Mamba’ul Ulum Megaluh Jombang in the topics of marriage and divorce. A quantitative approach was employed using a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design, involving 37 students as research participants and conducted in May 2025. Data were collected through pretest and posttest achievement tests and analyzed using the Kolmogorov–Smirnov normality test and paired t-test. The results showed a significant improvement in learning outcomes following the implementation of GBL (p = 0.01 < 0.05), with higher posttest mean scores compared to pretest scores, indicating a positive effect of GBL on Fiqih learning outcomes. The implementation of Game-Based Learning in this study was structured by incorporating elements of challenge, collaboration, and a scoring system to foster active student engagement, thereby not only enhancing cognitive aspects but also creating a more participatory and interactive learning environment. These findings affirm that GBL is a viable and effective instructional strategy in Islamic education to improve conceptual understanding and student engagement in Fiqih.

Abstract

Although Nahwu learning plays an important role in mastering the Arabic language, this material is often understood as an abstract concept, so students’ understanding tends to remain low and requires learning strategies that are more innovative, engaging, and easier to understand. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Mind Mapping learning method in improving understanding of Nahwu material among tenth-grade students at Madrasah Aliyah Bahrul Ulum Jombang. This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The research subjects consisted of two classes, namely an experimental class that used the Mind Mapping learning method and a control class that used conventional learning methods. Data were collected through tests of students’ understanding before and after the treatment (pre-test and post-test), and were then analyzed using statistical tests to determine differences in learning outcomes between the two classes. The results showed that the implementation of the Mind Mapping method significantly improved students’ understanding. The results of the t-test analysis showed a significance value of < 0.05, which means that there was a significant difference between students’ understanding before and after learning using the Mind Mapping method. Thus, the Mind Mapping method has proven effective in improving understanding of Nahwu material among tenth-grade students. This study contributes to the development of Arabic language learning methods, particularly in Nahwu learning, so that it becomes more effective, systematic, and easier for students to understand.

Abstract

Although schools have continuously sought to improve the quality of education through various academic and religious programs, variations in student learning outcomes still indicate that learning success is determined not only by the learning process in the classroom, but also by students’ internal and external factors. This study aims to analyze the effects of learning motivation, social interaction, and family environment on student learning outcomes, both partially and simultaneously, as well as to identify the contribution of each variable in the research model. This study employed a survey method with a quantitative approach. The study population consisted of 834 students, with a sample of 272 ninth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, then analyzed through classical assumption tests and multiple linear regression analysis, with hypothesis testing conducted using the t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination (R²). The results showed that learning motivation, social interaction, and family environment individually and simultaneously had a positive and significant effect on student learning outcomes (sig. 0.000 < 0.05). The Adjusted R Square value of 0.613 indicates that 61.3% of the variation in learning outcomes can be explained by these three variables, while 38.7% is influenced by other factors outside the research model. These findings affirm that improving learning outcomes requires strengthening students’ internal motivation accompanied by support from a conducive social and family environment. This study contributes to strengthening the study of the factors determining learning outcomes and underscores the importance of sustained collaboration between schools and parents in creating an effective learning climate oriented toward optimal academic achievement.

Abstract

Although academic achievement has received attention in various studies, research that specifically discusses the influence of self-regulation ability among students in Private Islamic Higher Education Institutions (Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam Swasta [PTKIS]) with a dual curriculum burden remains limited. This study aims to empirically analyze the effect of self-regulation ability on the academic achievement of students at STAI Darul Hikmah Bangkalan. This study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, involving 180 respondents selected through proportionate stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) scale questionnaire adapted from Zimmerman’s theory (16 items; α = 0.82) as well as documentation of Grade Point Average (GPA), and were then analyzed using simple linear regression with SPSS version 26 software. The results showed that self-regulation ability had a significant effect on students’ academic achievement (B = 0.014; t = 6.875; p = 0.000), with a contribution of 21% (R² = 0.210). These findings contribute to the development of Self-Regulated Learning theory from Zimmerman and Pintrich and broaden understanding of the dynamics of independent learning in the context of religion-based educational institutions. The study concludes that self-regulation strategies are important non-cognitive determinants in supporting academic success. Therefore, educational institutions are advised to integrate SRL training into the academic guidance system. The implications of this study include a theoretical contribution to strengthening the educational psychology literature in Indonesia as well as practical implications for higher education administrators in designing pedagogical interventions that support student learning autonomy. This study also opens opportunities for further research on the influence of the pesantren environment and social support on the unexplained variance in academic achievement.

Abstract

Although Islamic Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam [PAI]) plays a central role in shaping students’ religious understanding and practice, learning on the topics of salat and zikir remains constrained by monotonous instructional methods and the limited use of interactive media, resulting in low student engagement and suboptimal learning outcomes. This study aimed to develop iSpring Suite-based SAKIR (Salat and Zikir) learning media that is valid, practical, and effective for seventh-grade students at SMPN 4 Jombang. The study employed a Research and Development approach using a systematic model that encompassed needs analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected from seventh-grade students through observation, questionnaires, interviews, and validation sheets. The findings indicated that the developed media was highly feasible based on expert validation, practical based on positive student responses, and effective in improving student engagement and understanding of the material. The integration of interactive features, including animations, instructional videos, quizzes, and educational games, contributed to a more engaging and meaningful learning experience. In addition, the media supported independent learning and provided flexible access to instructional content both inside and outside the classroom, while also assisting teachers in implementing more innovative, student-centered, and technology-based instruction. The study concludes that iSpring Suite-based SAKIR learning media offers an innovative solution for improving the quality of PAI instruction and underscores the importance of integrating interactive digital media to enhance students’ motivation, participation, and learning outcomes in contemporary educational settings.

Abstract

The achievement of santri memorization targets in the Al-Qur’an tahfidz program often encounters various obstacles related to managerial aspects. This study aims to analyze the management of the Al-Qur’an tahfidz program and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in achieving santri memorization targets at Pesantren Al-Azkiya Malang. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation study. The research subjects included the pesantren caregiver, the tahfidz coordinator, supervising ustadz, and santri from each memorization target category. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the management of the tahfidz program at Pesantren Al-Azkiya Malang had been implemented systematically through the functions of planning, organizing, implementation, and supervision. The main supporting factors for the success of santri memorization included a conducive pesantren environment, disciplined scheduling, the active role of supervising ustadz, and a continuous evaluation system. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors included santri boredom, differences in individual ability, physical fatigue, and suboptimal time management, particularly among santri with high memorization targets. This study concludes that the successful achievement of santri memorization targets is determined not only by individual ability but is also strongly influenced by the effectiveness of tahfidz program management implemented in a planned and sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the importance of understanding the genealogy of thought concerning dakwah institutions through tracing the historical development and institutional transformation of dakwah from the classical, modern, to the contemporary period. This study aims to explain how dakwah institutions were formed, developed, and adapted to social, political, and technological changes in each phase of Islamic history. This study used a qualitative approach with a secondary data analysis method through a historical-philosophical approach to examine the dynamics of thought and practice of dakwah institutions. The results of the study show that in the classical period, dakwah institutions were centered on the mosque institution, which functioned as a center of worship, education, and community organization since the time of the Prophet. During the Khulafaur Rasyidin period, dakwah began to undergo a process of institutionalization through strengthening the structure of government, managing community administration, and expanding Islamic territory, which encouraged the emergence of more organized dakwah mechanisms. Entering the modern period, various dakwah institutions emerged, such as Muhammadiyah, Nahdlatul Ulama, Persatuan Islam, and Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia, which brought diverse patterns of thought, methods, and dakwah strategies in accordance with their respective ideological and social orientations. Meanwhile, in the contemporary era, dakwah institutions underwent transformation through institutional professionalization, the digitalization of dakwah media, and the strengthening of global networks. However, these developments also gave rise to various problems, such as the commercialization of dakwah, the fragmentation of religious authority, and challenges in maintaining the substance of dakwah values amid the development of modern society’s thought. This study emphasizes that the genealogy of thought concerning dakwah institutions shows continuity, change, and dynamic adaptation in accordance with the historical context, while also expanding understanding of the development of dakwah institutions in Muslim society.

Abstract

Although the Mappadendang tradition has received attention in various studies from social, symbolic, and Islamic law perspectives, research that specifically discusses the da‘wah values embedded in this tradition as a medium of cultural da‘wah remains limited. This study aims to analyze the da‘wah values contained in the Mappadendang tradition of the Bugis community and to explain its role as a medium for internalizing Islamic values based on local wisdom. This study used a qualitative approach with a cultural ethnography design, involving customary leaders, religious leaders, tradition practitioners, and community members selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and were then analyzed using the interactive analysis model of Miles and Huberman. The results showed that the Mappadendang tradition contains da‘wah values that include the value of gratitude, ukhuwah Islamiyah, gotong royong (ta‘āwun), silaturahmi, moral education, cultural preservation, and symbolic communication as a medium for transforming religious messages. These findings contribute to strengthening the study of cultural da‘wah and expand understanding of the integration of local culture as a medium of contextual da‘wah in Bugis society. This study concludes that local traditions have an important role as a means of internalizing Islamic values in the social life of the community and emphasizes the need to optimize a da‘wah approach based on local wisdom in responding to the dynamics of social change.

Abstract

Although interactive digital learning media have been widely studied, the integration of the jeda sejarah concept in Islamic Religious Education learning at the elementary school level remains relatively limited. This study aims to develop the interactive digital learning media “JEDA” (Jejak Dakwah Nabi Muhammad dari Mekkah ke Madinah) while also testing its feasibility for fourth-grade elementary school students. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with the Design and Development (D&D) method through the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), involving 21 fourth-grade students of SDN Sukaraja II as the main users, an Islamic Religious Education teacher as the material expert, and the fourth-grade homeroom teacher as the media expert selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and interviews, and were then analyzed descriptively and qualitatively through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the JEDA media obtained a very good assessment from the material expert at 98.75%, a good category from the media expert at 85%, and an average student response of 86.59%, which was also in the good category. These findings contribute to the development of technology-based learning in Islamic education while broadening understanding of the use of interactive media for delivering narrative historical material. This study concludes that the JEDA media is feasible for use in learning and supports students’ engagement and understanding of the historical material on the Prophet Muhammad SAW’s da’wah. The implications of this study include a practical contribution as an innovative alternative for teachers, as well as a conceptual contribution through the integration of the jeda sejarah approach as a more meaningful learning strategy.
