Abstract

Research on payment financial technology (fintech) and financial literacy in relation to students’ consumptive behavior has been widely conducted; however, studies that specifically examine the role of personal financial management behavior as an intervening variable in the context of UPI YPTK Padang students remain limited. This study aimed to analyze the influence of payment fintech and financial literacy on consumptive behavior, with personal financial management behavior as an intervening variable. A quantitative approach with a survey design was employed involving 100 respondents selected using proportionate stratified random sampling based on Slovin’s formula. Data were collected through questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability, and were then analyzed using multiple linear regression and path analysis with the assistance of SPSS. The results showed that payment fintech and financial literacy had a positive and significant effect on personal financial management behavior, and that payment fintech had a positive and significant effect on consumptive behavior. Conversely, financial literacy and personal financial management behavior did not have a significant effect on consumptive behavior, so the indirect effect through the intervening variable was also not proven to be significant. These findings enrich the literature on financial behaviour in digital transactions and suggest that universities integrate financial literacy education with the strengthening of digital spending control in order to guide students’ consumptive behavior toward more rational patterns.

Abstract

Studies on the determinants of oil palm farmers’ income have been widely conducted; however, analyses that specifically test the combined effects of land size, labor, and price within a single model in the local context of Pintas Tuo Village, Muara Tabir Subdistrict, remain limited. This study aimed to analyze the effects of land size (X1), labor (X2), and price (X3) on oil palm farmers’ income (Y). Using a quantitative approach with a field survey design, it involved 96 oil palm farmers determined using Slovin’s formula (10% margin of error) through a sampling procedure that combined purposive and simple random sampling. Data were collected through observation, structured interviews/questionnaires, and documentation, and were analyzed using multiple linear regression with classical assumption tests (normality, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity). The results showed that land size (β = 0.293, p = 0.002), labor (β = 0.363, p < 0.001), and price (β = 0.299, p = 0.002) had positive and significant effects on income, both partially and simultaneously (F = 60.578, p < 0.001), with the model explaining 65.3% of the variance in income (adjusted R² = 0.653). These findings reinforce the production economics framework of farming enterprises, which posits that income is influenced by production inputs and market factors, and highlight the importance of strengthening labor management and strategies for dealing with price volatility. The study recommends that relevant stakeholders, including local government and farmer organizations, promote productivity intensification, improved work efficiency, and expanded access to market information, while future research is advised to incorporate variables such as production costs, productivity per hectare, and plant age to achieve a more comprehensive income model.

Abstract

Although instructional media and physical-activity-based approaches have been widely examined, the development of traditional instructional aids that are systematically integrated into Pendidikan Jasmani, Olahraga, dan Kesehatan (Physical Education, Sports, and Health, PJOK) instruction to increase physical activity among elementary school students remains relatively limited. This study aimed to develop and test the effectiveness of a traditional instructional media model in enhancing the physical activity of elementary school students in Parepare. A quantitative approach was employed using a Research and Development (R&D) method combined with a one-group pretest–posttest quasi-experimental design. The research subjects consisted of 60 fourth- and fifth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using expert validation sheets, physical activity observation instruments, and student response questionnaires, and were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired-samples t-tests. The findings showed that the model developed through the integration of traditional games such as engklek, gobak sodor, and egrang into PJOK learning scenarios obtained an average expert validation score of 91.4%, categorized as very valid. The students’ mean physical activity score increased significantly from 62.35 at pretest to 83.70 at posttest, representing an increase of 21.35 points (34.24%), with statistical testing indicating a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores (t = 9.87; p < 0.001). In addition, 88% of students demonstrated high levels of engagement and enthusiasm during instruction. These findings contribute to strengthening culturally responsive pedagogy and active learning theories, and broaden the understanding of contextual PJOK instructional practices in elementary schools. The study concludes that the integration of traditional instructional aids plays an important role in increasing students’ physical activity and learning motivation, and recommends that PJOK teachers and schools adopt locally rooted, culture-based instructional media as an innovative instructional strategy, while encouraging further research with wider implementation scales and longer durations.

Abstract

The low level of young children’s understanding of geometric shapes, which are generally still taught abstractly through two-dimensional images, highlights the need for more concrete and meaningful instructional approaches. This study aimed to describe the process and outcomes of learning geometric shapes through the use of real-object instructional media (media realita) for children aged 5–6 years at RA Al Falah Banyuwangi. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation over four weeks across eight learning sessions. The findings showed that the use of real-object media enhanced children’s enthusiasm, active participation, and understanding of the concepts of circles, triangles, and squares. Children were better able to identify shapes through tangible objects that could be touched and directly manipulated, making the learning process more meaningful by engaging sensorimotor experiences. This study contributes to strengthening concrete experience-based learning in early childhood education, particularly in developing foundational geometric concepts.

Abstract

Economic growth, as a long-term process characterized by rising per capita income and structural transformation, requires an optimal resource management system, yet remains challenged by unstable growth, unemployment, inflation, and global recessionary pressures in 2023. This study aims to analyze the effects of unemployment and zakat on economic growth in three ASEAN countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore), which were purposively selected based on their relatively more established zakat management regulations. A quantitative approach was employed using panel data regression analysis on secondary data for the 2014–2023 period. The results show that, individually, the unemployment rate has a negative but statistically insignificant effect on economic growth, whereas zakat has a negative and statistically significant effect on economic growth. Jointly, both variables significantly affect economic growth in the three ASEAN countries under study. These findings indicate that, within the context of this research, the level of unemployment has not yet been sufficiently large to exert a significant influence on growth, while zakat has a statistically meaningful impact. Therefore, optimal and efficient zakat management has the potential to serve as an important instrument for promoting economic development, reducing inequality, and improving societal welfare.

Abstract

Although physical activity–based learning has received considerable attention in prior research, studies that specifically analyze its effect on improving the motor ability of students in Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) programs remain limited, particularly within teacher education institutions. This study aimed to analyze the effect of physical activity learning on the enhancement of motor ability among students of the PGSD Study Program at Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM) Campus V Parepare. A quantitative approach was employed using a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design, involving 30 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a motor ability test instrument covering strength, speed, agility, balance, and coordination, and were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired-samples t-tests. The results showed that the mean pretest score of 65.42 increased to 78.96 in the posttest, with an improvement of 13.54 points. The paired-samples t-test yielded a t-value of 8.27 with a significance level (Sig.) of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant effect of physical activity learning on students’ motor ability. These findings contribute to the development of physical education concepts in primary teacher education and broaden the understanding of the importance of physical activity in enhancing the motor abilities of prospective primary school teachers. The study concludes that systematically planned and structured physical activity learning plays a crucial role in improving PGSD students’ motor ability and recommends that higher education institutions optimize the implementation of physical activity–based learning within the curriculum. The implications of this research include theoretical contributions to the literature on physical education and motor ability, as well as practical implications for lecturers and institutions in designing learning activities oriented toward improving students’ motor competencies, while opening opportunities for developing innovative physical activity learning models tailored to the needs of PGSD students.

Abstract

The low level of fine motor development in early childhood, evident in suboptimal abilities to hold writing tools, cut, paste, and perform accurate eye–hand coordination, remains a classroom challenge due to learning activities that tend to be monotonous and lack variation. This study aimed to determine the effect of batik activities using natural materials on the fine motor development of young children. A quantitative approach was employed with a quasi-experimental design, using fine motor skill tests as the data collection technique and data analysis conducted with a t-test using SPSS version 26. The results showed that children’s fine motor skills in the experimental class improved more than those in the control class. The t-test yielded a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that H₀ was rejected and Hₐ was accepted. Thus, batik activities using natural materials have a significant effect on the fine motor development of young children and can be recommended as a varied and meaningful alternative learning activity to support fine motor stimulation in PAUD institutions.

Abstract

Intensive use of social media among university students has the potential to increase tendencies toward social comparison, which may negatively affect psychological well-being. One protective factor that may reduce this tendency is gratitude. This study aimed to analyze the contribution of gratitude to social comparison among university students who use social media. A quantitative approach was employed using simple linear regression with a sample of 401 students obtained through accidental sampling. Data were collected using a modified Gratitude Questionnaire-6 (GQ-6) and a social comparison scale encompassing upward comparison and downward comparison dimensions. The results showed that gratitude contributed negatively and significantly to social comparison, accounting for 4.1% of the variance in upward comparison and 4.4% in downward comparison. Descriptively, students’ gratitude levels were in the moderate category, upward comparison tended to be low, and downward comparison fell within the moderate category. These findings indicate that the higher students’ gratitude, the lower their tendency to engage in social comparison on social media. The implications underscore the importance of strengthening gratitude as a preventive effort to help students use social media more adaptively and to support their psychological well-being.

Abstract

The high volatility of stock prices during the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent economic recovery has created a need to re-examine the reliability of profitability ratios as signals for investors, particularly in food and beverage manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (Bursa Efek Indonesia, BEI). This study aims to analyze the effect of Return on Assets (ROA) and Earnings Per Share (EPS) on stock prices, with Net Profit Margin (NPM) as an intervening variable, over the 2020–2024 period. A quantitative approach with an explanatory design was employed, involving 25 companies (125 observations) selected through purposive sampling. Secondary data were obtained from annual financial reports published by BEI and analyzed using descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, and path analysis with the assistance of SPSS version 26. The results show that ROA has a positive and significant effect on NPM and stock prices, while EPS has a positive and significant effect on stock prices but does not have a significant effect on NPM. NPM does not have a significant effect on stock prices and does not mediate the relationship between either ROA or EPS and stock prices. These findings indicate that investors prioritize ROA and EPS as direct signals in assessing stocks, whereas NPM does not play a meaningful mediating role. The implications suggest that companies need to enhance the efficiency of asset utilization and earnings per share performance to strengthen investor confidence and maintain stock attractiveness amid volatile market conditions.

Abstract

The issue of declining employee performance in financial service organizations has become increasingly salient when linked to workload and burnout, which have the potential to heighten job stress, while studies that specifically position job stress as an intervening variable in the relationship between workload, burnout, and employee performance in the context of state-owned pawn service enterprises remain limited. This study aimed to analyze the effect of workload and burnout on employee performance through job stress as an intervening variable at the Pegadaian Branch Office of Tarandam, Padang City. A quantitative approach with a survey design was employed, involving 40 employees selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed with Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results showed that workload did not have a significant effect on employee performance, whereas burnout and job stress had a significant negative effect on performance. In addition, workload and burnout had a significant positive effect on job stress, and job stress was found to mediate the effect of both variables on employee performance. These findings reinforce job stress theory and underscore that controlling burnout and job stress is a key factor in maintaining and enhancing employee performance in state-owned financial service organizations. The practical implications suggest that management should design workload management policies and sustained psychological intervention programs to minimize job stress and burnout so that employee performance can be optimally maintained.
