Abstract

Digital storytelling is often used in various contexts today, especially in the world of education. Many educators have followed this trend in early childhood education (ECE). This study examines the application of digital storytelling in ECE in Indonesia. Using a systematic literature review (SLR) a method, this research is a qualitative approach which is also known as a meta-synthesis. The literature reviewed was 15 articles from 56 articles that researchers found in the Google Scholar database. The results show that digital storytelling serves as an important method and medium to ensure children's learning experiences are enjoyable. In general, it is used in ECE in Indonesia through simple technology. This technology can enhance a story or fairy tale by making it more fun, interesting, communicative, and dramatic. However, the findings of this review of studies and methodological gaps have implications for ECE policy, practice, and research in Indonesia. Abstract

The rise of early marriage, child violence, and stunting that occur in Indonesia are problems and challenges in building family welfare. This study delves into the significant family challenges in Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan Province, Indonesia, bordering Malaysia. It focuses on three critical issues: early marriage, child violence, and stunting. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, we gathered data through interviews, observations, and documentation, ensuring accuracy with triangulation methods. The findings are quite alarming. Early marriage rates are high, with 563 cases involving teenagers aged 15-19 in 2022 alone. Child violence, particularly sexual abuse, remains a grave concern, with 101 cases reported over the past three years. Stunting, which hampers early childhood development, affects 30.5% of children, especially in urban areas. These challenges underscore the urgent need for integrated policies that address economic, educational, and social factors to support family welfare. While our study has limitations, such as relying on reported cases and being cross-sectional, it lays the groundwork for future research and policy-making. We recommend adopting longitudinal and comparative studies to better understand regional differences and causal factors. Tackling these issues requires a sustained, multifaceted approach and collaborative efforts from all stakeholders. Together, we can create a supportive environment for families, break the cycle of poverty, and promote sustainable development in border areas.

Abstract

This research discusses the role of the UTAUT Model (Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology) in Islamic education management. The main issue raised is how applying the UTAUT Model can influence and improve Islamic education management practices. This research aims to gain a better understanding of the factors that influence the acceptance and use of technology in the context of Islamic education management, as well as to guide the development of effective policies and programs. The research method used is qualitative with data collection through literature study. The analysis was carried out by identifying important findings in the literature related to the application of the UTAUT Model in Islamic education management. The results of this research indicate that the application of the UTAUT Model has significant potential to improve the quality of Islamic education through understanding the factors that influence technology adoption. However, there needs to be collaboration between Islamic education leaders, teachers, students, parents, and related stakeholders to encourage wider and sustainable technology adoption. In conclusion, a deep understanding of the role of the UTAUT Model in Islamic education management can make a significant contribution to improving the quality of Islamic education holistically.
The Concept of Fitrah for Children in Ibn Katsir's Qur'an Exegesis: A Pedagogical Implication in Early Childhood Islamic Education Purnama, Sigit; 'Aziz, Hafidh; Nurhusna, Lu’lu’; Ulfah, Maulidya

Abstract

The debate in child development is the factors that influence development, such as genetic factors, heredity, or environmental factors. Filling the room for dialogue and discourse on the conflict of these two causes, Islam offers an alternative to the Qur'an fitrah definition. This study aims to reveal the concept of child fitrah according to Ibn Katsir in the Tafsir Al-Qur'an al-'Aẓhim and the pedagogical implications in early childhood Islamic education. This study uses qualitative research methods with a descriptive-analytic approach. The data were collected through documents and analyzed using the Creswell model analysis technique. The results showed that the concept of human nature (fitrah), according to Ibn Katsir, is based on good innate potential, i.e., Tawheed or religious nature. Therefore, education has to maintain this nature as a positive external agent by referring to Allah's guidance through the Prophet's revelations and examples. It then manifests by observation, literacy, modeling, and reasoning in the learning activity. In the educational process, these efforts can be: 1) Wisdom, which can be interpreted as literacy and modeling. The activities can be memorization and recitation with modeling from adults or teachers; 2) Mau'idhoh, oral transmission method to convey messages, reasoning, and even warnings; 3) If necessary, an excellent Jidal method can be used. Thus, the potential of Fitrah is transformed into a necessity for humans to fulfill their "primordial promise" to Allah. Finally, this study provides a basis for pedagogical practice based on the concept of fitrah according to Ibn Katsir in the implementation of early childhood Islamic education.
