Abstract

Lanta Nice Beach Resort demonstrates significant potential for sustainable tourism growth through strategic collaboration between university students and the local community. This study examines a community-based event development initiative, wherein multidisciplinary students engage in capacity-building programs to enhance local tourism attractiveness. The program employed a combination of workshops, discussions, and practical training focused on event planning, marketing strategies, and operational execution. Data were collected through participant surveys and program evaluations to assess knowledge acquisition and perceived benefits. Findings reveal that over 80% of participants reported improved understanding of tourism event management, while 90% acknowledged tangible benefits for local tourism development. Key outcomes include the design of flagship events, such as cultural festivals and art performances, intended to attract both domestic and international visitors. Furthermore, active community participation reflects increased awareness of local cultural identity and the importance of sustainable tourism practices. This research highlights the efficacy of student-community collaboration in co-creating tourism experiences that stimulate economic development, foster cultural preservation, and enhance visitor engagement. The study provides actionable insights for policymakers and practitioners seeking to implement community-driven tourism initiatives in coastal destinations, emphasizing the integration of educational resources with local stakeholder engagement to achieve long-term tourism growth.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the strategic role of restaurant servers in enhancing guest experience and operational success during major festive events, specifically Christmas and New Year’s celebrations at Lanta Nice Beach Resort, Thailand. Based on insights from an international internship program, the paper underscores how restaurant staff perform multiple roles that extend beyond food delivery, including creating an inviting atmosphere, facilitating communication between guests and management, and serving as cultural intermediaries in a multicultural hospitality setting. The analysis identifies core responsibilities of servers, highlights service challenges during peak demand, and emphasizes the competencies required to accommodate diverse international guests. Findings reveal that effective restaurant service relies on a combination of technical proficiency, interpersonal communication, cultural sensitivity, and stress management under time constraints. These results contribute to a deeper understanding of frontline hospitality roles in tourism studies and offer practical implications for workforce training, event management, and service quality improvement in resort settings.

Abstract

Intercultural communication competence is essential for hotel receptionists working in multicultural tourism destinations. This study examines how community-based tourism (CBT) principles can strengthen intercultural communication skills among receptionists at Lanta Nice Beach Resort, Thailand. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observational notes, and document analysis related to guest interactions and cultural events. The findings show that CBT-oriented engagement enhances receptionists’ cultural awareness, communication adaptability, and problem-solving abilities when serving international guests. Participation in cultural activities, such as Christmas and New Year events, also facilitates reciprocal cultural learning between staff and visitors. Improved intercultural competence contributes to higher service quality and a more culturally inclusive guest experience. This study highlights the potential of CBT as a capacity-building strategy for frontline hospitality workers and offers insights for resorts seeking to strengthen guest satisfaction and promote sustainable tourism practices.

Abstract

Amid limited digital-marketing practice in vocational curricula, 80 grade-XI marketing students of SMK Iqro, Pasar Kemis, completed a four-day WhatsApp Business (WAB) workshop. Grounded in experiential-learning theory, the intervention blended classroom tutorials, hands-on catalogue creation, and field mentoring for five nearby MSMEs. Pre-test/post-test results showed a significant knowledge leap (51.9 ± 9.7 to 87.2 ± 6.4; Cohen’s d = 3.3, p < 0.001). Ninety-five percent of students produced full WAB catalogues and 89 % activated automated replies. Partner MSMEs recorded a 2.1-fold rise in customer inquiries after implementing student-designed broadcast campaigns. The study confirms that a brief, low-cost workshop can simultaneously elevate student competencies and deliver tangible benefits to local enterprises.

Abstract

Financial literacy is a critical life skill that enables individuals to make informed decisions, develop financial resilience, and contribute to sustainable economic growth. However, many youths and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in developing countries continue to face persistent financial literacy gaps that limit their economic empowerment and participation in the formal economy. This community-based engagement study aims to strengthen financial capabilities among youth and MSME actors through a collaborative education model that integrates financial literacy training, practical learning experiences, and digital financial adoption. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, involving in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation with youth aged 15–22 and MSME owners in semi-urban communities. The findings indicate that the program effectively enhanced youth understanding of budgeting, saving behavior, and responsible use of digital financial services. For MSMEs, improvements were observed in bookkeeping practices, separation of personal and business finances, and initial adoption of digital financial applications. The initiative not only fostered positive financial behavior change but also strengthened local economic ecosystems through intergenerational knowledge exchange and practice-based learning. The study concludes that collaborative educational interventions play an essential role in advancing financial inclusion, elevating MSME financial management, and supporting community economic sustainability, suggesting the need for continuous and scalable models in similar contexts.

Abstract

Marga Mulya Village, located in Mauk Subdistrict, Tangerang Regency, possesses considerable potential for the development of home-based industries, particularly fish crackers and handicraft products. However, this potential has not been optimally realized due to limitations in packaging innovation, digital marketing strategies, and brand management. This Community Service Program aims to enhance the competitiveness of the village’s flagship products through the introduction of environmentally friendly packaging and the implementation of digital marketing strategies. The program employed a collaborative participatory approach, encompassing stages of socialization, training, technology implementation, mentoring, and evaluation. The results demonstrate significant improvements in both production and marketing aspects, including the creation of eco-friendly packaging innovations, the establishment of business social media accounts and online stores, and the development of digital catalogs for the village’s flagship products. The program confirms that packaging innovation and the digitalization of marketing can increase revenue, strengthen branding, and promote the sustainability of the local economy.
