Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of website-based quiz media in improving reading and listening skills of first-semester students of the English Education Study Program, PGRI Silampari University. The quiz media conducted through the website is designed to combine visual and interactive elements to create a more engaging learning experience. The results showed that 80% of students felt that this method was effective in improving reading skills, while 60% reported an improvement in listening skills. In addition, the majority of students stated that quizzes helped them understand weaknesses, increase motivation to study, and build confidence. This study concludes that interactive game-based quizzes are effective and can be useful learning strategies. Further research is needed to test the effectiveness of this medium against other language skills and on a wider scale.

Abstract

This research study aimed to analyze of Educational Value by Scoot Derrickson in the Doctor Strange Movie. This study would answer the question “What are the educational values in Doctor Strange Movie ?”, by answering that question the researcher will know what were the educational values found in the Doctor Strange Movie. In this study the method used to found the educational values was qualitative descriptive method. The researcher found some educational values in the movie that divided into two parts, there are Values of being and values of giving. Values of being were: honesty, courage, peace ability, self-discipline, confidence and capability. Values of giving were: loyalty, respect, love, unselfishness, sensitivity, kindness, friendliness, justice and mercy.

Abstract

The problem in this study was Teaching Writing Narrative Text through Picture Series were able to improve students skill at X grade of SMA N 5 Lubuklingau in academic year 2017/2018?”. The method of study was pre – experimental method. The population of this study was all of the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 5 Lubuklinggau in academic year 2017/2018. The sample was taken through cluster random sampling consisting of 33 students of X.1 class the data were collected through written test. In analyzing the data, writer used four techniques, individual score, conversion of individual score, normality and paired t-test. Based on the result of the data analysis, there was improvement of the average scores or the average ability from the pre-test (40.79) to the post-test (66.42). in the pre-test, there were 2 students (6.06%) who were categorized passed, and in the post-test which was given after teaching writing trough picture series there were 18 students (54.54%) who were categorized passed. The result of the matched t-test calculation found out that was 7.32 and the with significance level 5% was 1.697. in this case, was higher than (7.32>1.697). it could be concluded that it was effective to teach writing through picture series to the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 5 Lubuklinggau in the academic year of 2017/2018.

Abstract

The process of teaching and learning English in universities often encounters obstacles in their efforts to achieve learning objectives. The obstacle that often arises is the inadequate learning plan so that it affects the material and implementation of the learning process which is sometimes not in accordance with the field of science that is being studied by students. Seeing this, it is very important to plan learning by conducting a needs analysis based on students' needs for learning English. This study aims to analyse the need for learning English based on four basic skills and also to identify and describe the needs of nursing students’ mastery of the English language. This research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach. The object of this research is first year nursing students at STIKES NOTOKUSUMO. The data obtained illustrates that the purpose and motivation of students to learn English is to support academic development and be able to speak English. While their main obstacle is in terms of vocabulary mastery and understanding of grammar. The results of the analysis of English learning needs concluded that the importance of speaking and emphasis on grammar and vocabulary is needed to improve English language skills, especially for nursing students.

Abstract

This research aimed to identified English reading habits of the sixth semester students of English Education Study Program at STKIP PGRI Lubuklinggau. This research employed in descriptive qualitative research design. The participants were from class B at the sixth semester students of English Education Study Program. The subject was 16 students. The data collected by using questionnaire adapted from a survey of EFL students in Indonesia from Iftanti (2012) and study from Samaranayake (2016) as the instrument to identify about English reading habits at the sixth semester students of English Education Study Program at STKIP PGRI Lubuklinggau. Based on the result of data analysis, the researcher found out the data: 1) 3 motivation English reading habits such as: improved reading skill, to know the knowledge and to improve their vocabularies. 2) Students’ belief, reading English can improve English ability in their activity and 3) Students’ purpose in reading English is for their study. In conlusion, the sixth semester students of English Education Study Program Class B at STKIP PGRI Lubuklinggau have good English reading habits. Students good habits are: they are eager to read English, they spend most of their time reading English texts,and they have strong interest to read English regularly. Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out the influence and significant difference of using animation video for mentally retarded students’ vocabulary mastery at SLB Wiyata Dharma Metro. Animation video is a digital recording of an image, object, and sound that moves across into or out of the screen, animation video also the rapid display of the images of the sequence that create an illusion of movement. This research used pre-experimental research. The subjects of this research are the mentally retarded students at SLB Wiyata Dharma Metro academic year 2021. There are 5 students at 8 class C or mentally retardation class. The research instrument used to collect the data in this research is pretest and posttest. The result of data analysis indicates that the value of the gain score obtained (0.76) was higher than the gain score table (0.70). Then, the result of data analysis indicating the value of t obtained (3.70) was higher than t table (2.77) at the significance level 0.05 and the significance (0.020), and lower than 0.05. It can be concluded that there are influences and significant differences of using Animation Video in students’ vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

Morphology is a branch of linguistics that identifies basic units of language as grammatical units. Morphology is the basic of the word because from morphologi the word is formed. In morphology there are two ways to identify, the morphological process and morphological analysis. The aims of this research are to find out the types of affixes and to reveal are the most dominant of using affixes in Journal Premis of English Study Program, Muhammadiyah University of Metro. The object of this research is the affixation that used in The Premis Journal of English Study Program, Muhammadiyah University of Metro. The subject of this research is Premis Journal of English Study Program, Muhammadiyah University of Metro. Descriptive qualitative research is a method of this research. In this research found are 1.171 affixation, consist of prefix are 52 d ata, suffix are 343 data and inflectional morpheme 776. The most dominant types of using affixation in this data is inflectional morpheme with the percentage 66%. Based on the data it can be concluded that in the Journal found all of the affixation with different grade.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The problem in this research was How was the tenth grade students ability in writing descriptive text at the SMKN 4 Lubuklinggau? The objective of this research was to find out an analysis of students ability in writing descriptive text at the tenth grade students of SMKN 4 Lubuklinggau. The descriptive used quantitative method and the data collected through the writing descriptive text. The population of this research was 25 students of the tenth grade students of SMKN4 Lubuklinggau. The sample of this research was 25 students who taken from one class by using random sampling. Based on the result of the writing descriptive text at the tenth grade students of SMKN 4 Lubuklinggau was in passed category the mean score was 65,00. The students for Excellent were 13 students or 52%. The students for Good 9 were students or 36%. The students for Weak were 3 students or 12%. The students for poor were 0 students or 0% in writing descriptive text. It means that the students in this research had passed in the writing descriptive text at SMKN 4 Lubuklinggau.KeyWords: Students Ability, Writing Descriptive Text

Abstract

“This Far from Paradise” is all about a feisty young woman who fights to regain control of her dead father's Caribbean empire. Max McHenry is a grizzled old prospector straight out of Treasure of the Sierra Madre when he makes a fabulous gold strike and shrewdly builds a financial empire on it, becoming practically king of a group of Caribbean islands called the Angelines. In the novel entitled “This Far from Paradise” written by Philip Shelby, the writer wants to find the way how the characters show their role to give the reader the meaning of the novel, how the story goes. The research methodology is the qualitative method. There are some steps done by the writer in doing the research. Firstly, the writer reads the novel by Philip Shelby which entitled “This Far from Paradise”, and tries to understand its content. Secondly, the writer reads some other references that are related to the study. Furthermore, the writer applies the psychoanalysis theory of personality by Sigmund Freud concerning trauma, anxiety, and the defense mechanism.

Abstract

The aim of the research was to find out the effectiveness of Think-Talk-Write (TTW) strategy at the tenth grade students of SMAN Raksa Budi. However the population and sample in this research were 32 Students (X IPA1) who were collected by using a purposive sampling technique. The research used a pre-exsperimental method. The pre-exsperimental class had given the treatments by using the Think-talk-write (TTW) strategy. The result shows as follow: first, the score point pre-test showed that the average score 55.6. After given the treatments the post-test was given. The score in the post-test result showed the average score was 75.87. However the result of the paired t-test taccount 12.6 while ttable 1.695. It means that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. In the order word, it can be announced that theThink-Talk-Write (TTW) Strategy were effective to used by students to write descriptive paragraphs. Therefore, it was significantly effective to use Think-Talk-Write (TTW) strategy to teach writing skill at the tenth grade students of SMAN Raksa Budi in academic year 2022/2023.
