Abstract

Tawengan Village, Sambi District, Boyolali Regency, is an agricultural area where the majority of the population earns their livelihood from rice farming. Rice farmers in Tawengan Village, particularly members of the Amrih Tentrem Farmer Group, face various cultivation challenges, one of the most significant being severe insect pest infestations that reduce rice production. Stem borers, green leafhoppers, rice bugs (Leptocorisa spp.), and other insect pests have caused an estimated 31% decline in rice productivity, as well as deterioration in grain quality. This community service program aimed to address these challenges through the implementation of LED light trap technology as an environmentally friendly pest management method in rice cultivation. The technology utilizes LED light to attract and capture insect pests, thereby suppressing pest populations and reducing pest-related damage without leaving harmful chemical residues. The program was conducted in Tawengan Village, Sambi District, Boyolali Regency. Its implementation consisted of two main activities: educational outreach and apllying the installation of LED light traps. The educational outreach was delivered through interactive presentations, group discussions, and question-and-answer sessions to enhance farmers' understanding of environmentally friendly pest management. Subsequently, the LED light traps were installed using a participatory and demonstrative approach, actively involving farmers in demonstration plots managed by the Amrih Tentrem Farmer Group. This program also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) by enhancing farmers' knowledge and technical competencies in implementing environmentally friendly pest management technologies, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering collaboration among universities, the village government, farmer groups, and local farmers in the implementation and dissemination of sustainable pest control technology.

Abstract

The PKK women's group in Ekas Buana village remains active in producing traditional snacks as an income-generating activity. However, these products are currently sold in plain, clear plastic packaging lacking logos, brand names, or product information, thereby failing to establish a distinct identity or appeal to consumers. This community service initiative aims to enhance the product's marketability and competitiveness by creating a logo and packaging design as a means of brand building. A participatory approach was employed, involving the PKK women in every stage of the process—from problem identification and analysis, observation, and design (logo and packaging) to consultation, printing, receipt of the final materials, and program implementation. The initiative resulted in a logo and packaging design that align with the product's characteristics while reflecting the unique identity of Ekas Buana village. Effective branding offers advantages by enhancing visual appeal, clarifying brand identity, and providing clear product information, ultimately making the products more competitive in the market. Evaluation results indicate a positive response from the partners, who have committed to using the new logo and packaging in future production activities. This program is expected to boost the marketing of these traditional snacks and strengthen their competitive edge.

Abstract

Kemampuan berbahasa Jepang menjadi salah satu prasyarat utama bagi tenaga kerja yang ingin bekerja di Jepang, sebab pemerintah Jepang mewajibkan pekerja asing yang masuk melalui skema Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) untuk membuktikan penguasaan bahasa Jepang mereka lewat Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT). Di Kota Semarang, penyelenggaraan JLPT dikoordinasikan oleh Universitas Dian Nuswantoro bersama SMA Kesatrian 2  yang berperan sebagai salah satu tempat ujian, dengan melibatkan para guru sekolah tersebut menjadi asisten pengawas. Karena itulah, kegiatan sosialisasi mengenai keseluruhan tata tertib pelaksanaan ujian JLPT perlu diselenggarakan agar tugas pengawasan dapat berjalan sesuai standar yang telah ditentukan oleh otoritas Jepang. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan melalui diskusi awal bersama mitra, pemaparan materi peraturan ujian oleh narasumber yang kompeten, sesi tanya jawab secara interaktif, serta pendampingan pascasosialisasi melalui grup WhatsApp. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan mengacu pada tingkat keterlibatan dan pemahaman peserta selama sesi diskusi berlangsung. Sebanyak 18 calon pengawas dari SMA Kesatrian 2 mengikuti kegiatan ini. Pelaksanaan kegiatan berjalan dengan sangat baik, ditandai dengan tingginya antusiasme peserta yang tampak dari banyaknya pertanyaan seputar aspek teknis pelaksanaan ujian. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa sosialisasi ini berhasil membekali para asisten pengawas dengan pemahaman yang memadai tentang prosedur pengawasan ujian JLPT, sehingga pelaksanaan ujian kompetensi bahasa Jepang internasional di SMA Kesatrian 2 Semarang dapat berlangsung tertib dan sesuai prosedur.

Abstract

Cultural performances represent one of the strategic efforts to preserve and introduce cultural heritage to the community, particularly to the younger generation. Pesanggrahan Village, located in Montong Gading Subdistrict, East Lombok Regency, is known as an area that still maintains and preserves several traditional arts, including Gendang Beleq, Kelentang, and Wayang Kulit. This article is written with the aim of describing in detail the implementation of cultural performances in Pesanggrahan Village and elaborating on the benefits derived from these activities for the preservation of local culture. The writing of this article was conducted using observation, interview, and documentation methods throughout the course of the activities. These three methods were employed in an integrated manner to obtain accurate and comprehensive data regarding the execution of the performances and the community's response to the activities. The results of the observation indicate that the cultural performances in Pesanggrahan Village received high enthusiasm from various segments of the community. Community involvement was strongly evident, ranging from local artists who served as the main performers, to youth groups, and community leaders who provided support and participation. Through direct involvement in the performances, young people gain hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of their cultural heritage. It is hoped that the cultural performances in Pesanggrahan Village can continue to be held on a sustainable basis as a form of cultural preservation, while also serving as an attraction that can introduce the village's potential and cultural wealth to a broader audience, both within and outside the region.

Abstract

Pengelolaan sampah yang baik merupakan salah satu upaya penting dalam menjaga kebersihan lingkungan dan meningkatkan derajat kesehatan masyarakat. Berdasarkan observasi dan wawancara ditemukan bahwa 73,3% rumah tangga belum melakukan pemilahan antara sampah organik dan anorganik. Selain itu, sebanyak 60% masyarakat masih memiliki kebiasaan membakar sampah secara terbuka di pekarangan rumah, dan 26,7% sisanya membuang sampah ke lahan kosong atau saluran drainase lokal Kondisi tersebut menyebabkan lingkungan menjadi kurang bersih, menimbulkan bau tidak sedap, serta menjadi tempat berkembang biaknya lalat, nyamuk, dan tikus sebagai vektor penyebaran penyakit. Tujuan kegiatan ini untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kesadaran masyarakat mengenai pentingnya pengelolaan sampah yang baik. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini meliputi penyuluhan kesehatan, penyampaian materi menggunakan media edukasi, diskusi, evaluasi pre-test dan post-test serta demonstrasi cara memilah dan mengelola sampah dengan tepat. Melalui kegiatan ini terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat yang diukur melalui perbandingan hasil pre-test dan post-test. Pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai pengelolaan sampah yang benar meningkat sebesar 30%. Oleh karena itu, diharapkan masyarakat dapat menerapkan pengelolaan sampah yang baik dalam kehidupan sehari-hari sehingga tercipta lingkungan yang bersih, sehat, nyaman, dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Low reading interest and limited basic literacy skills among early childhood and primary school-aged children remain challenges in various regions, including Ekas Buana Village, East Lombok Regency. This situation is influenced by a lack of early reading habits and the increasing use of mobile phones for entertainment. One strategy to improve children's literacy is through "read-aloud" activities, which create interactive, enjoyable learning experiences suited to children's developmental characteristics. This initiative aimed to boost reading interest and basic literacy skills among kindergarten (TK) and primary school (SD) students (grades 1–3) in Ekas Buana Village. A participatory read-aloud method was employed, implemented by 15 university students participating in the Community Service Program (KKN). The program comprised initial observation, coordination with schools, regular read-aloud sessions, Q&A sessions, discussions, educational games, reflection, and teacher training to ensure program sustainability. The results indicate that students participated enthusiastically and actively in discussions, were able to retell the stories, and showed improvements in vocabulary, listening skills, and reading comprehension. Furthermore, teacher training provided an understanding of the read-aloud method, creating the potential for the literacy program to continue in the long term. Thus, read-aloud activities have proven to be an effective strategy for fostering a literacy culture and enhancing basic literacy skills among children in Ekas Buana Village.

Abstract

The mangrove ecosystem is a coastal ecosystem that plays a vital role in maintaining environmental balance through its coastal protection function, providing habitat for various marine biota, and supporting the sustainability of fisheries resources. This study aims to determine the understanding of the community of Tanjung Luar Village, Keruak District, East Lombok Regency, regarding the importance of mangrove ecosystems in coastal environmental conservation. The study used a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with fishermen, community leaders, village officials, and coastal communities, and supported by various relevant literature sources. The results showed that most people understood the benefits of mangroves as coastal protection from abrasion and as a habitat for various marine biota that support the livelihoods of fishermen. However, community knowledge regarding the function of mangroves as carbon sinks (Blue Carbon) and maintains the balance of coastal ecosystems still needs to be improved. Differences in education levels, experience, and access to information are factors that influence community understanding. Therefore, ongoing education and outreach programs are needed to increase awareness and encourage community participation in maintaining the sustainability of mangrove ecosystems.

Abstract

The waste problem in the coastal area of Tanjung Luar Village, Keruak District, East Lombok Regency, remains a major challenge affecting environmental cleanliness and the sustainability of coastal ecosystems. Low public awareness of environmental hygiene has contributed to the accumulation of waste along the coastline. This community service program aimed to improve community awareness and participation in maintaining coastal cleanliness and environmental sustainability through the Environmental Clean-Up Movement. The program employed a participatory approach involving students of Universitas Hamzanwadi Community Service Program (KKN), the Tanjung Luar Village Government, local youth, community members, volunteers, and various community organizations. The implementation stages included field observation, coordination with stakeholders, environmental education, coastal clean-up activities, and waste segregation. The results showed a high level of community participation, with approximately 80 participants involved and around 50 kg of organic and inorganic waste successfully collected from Kebon Roe Beach. The program not only created a cleaner and more comfortable coastal environment but also increased public awareness of proper waste management and strengthened collaboration among the village government, the community, and university students in promoting environmental conservation. Therefore, the Environmental Clean-Up Movement can serve as an effective collaborative model for enhancing community awareness and supporting the sustainable management of coastal environments.

Abstract

The low level of Business Identification Number (Nomor Induk Berusaha/NIB) ownership among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Tanjung Luar Village indicates that business legality remains an issue requiring greater attention. This condition is influenced by limited understanding of the benefits of NIB, inadequate ability to use the Online Single Submission (OSS) system, and administrative challenges faced by business owners. This program aimed to improve MSMEs' understanding of the importance of business legality while providing assistance in obtaining NIB. The method employed was a descriptive qualitative approach consisting of door-to-door data collection, socialization, assistance, and evaluation. Initial data collection was conducted to identify the conditions and needs of MSME owners so that the assistance program could be implemented more effectively. The results showed that of the 26 MSMEs surveyed, 15 had not yet obtained an NIB. The socialization program was attended by 17 MSME owners, while the assistance program, followed by further support for participants facing administrative obstacles, successfully increased the number of MSMEs obtaining NIBs to 13. These findings indicate that socialization combined with initial data collection and continuous assistance effectively improved MSMEs' understanding and increased business legality ownership in Tanjung Luar Village. Therefore, the activities of data collection, socialization, and assistance in NIB registration proved effective in improving business legality among MSMEs in Tanjung Luar Village.

Abstract

Globalisasi menuntut pembelajaran bahasa asing yang tidak hanya berfokus pada penguasaan keterampilan berbahasa, tetapi juga pada pengembangan kompetensi interkultural. Dalam pembelajaran bahasa Jepang di sekolah dasar, pengenalan budaya masih cenderung bersifat teoritis sehingga siswa memiliki kesempatan yang terbatas untuk mengalami praktik budaya secara langsung. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman bahasa dan budaya Jepang melalui pembuatan f?rin (??) sebagai media edukasi berbasis pendekatan partisipatif. Program dilaksanakan di SD YSKI 2 Semarang dengan melibatkan 24 siswa. Metode yang digunakan mengacu pada Experiential Learning yang meliputi pengalaman langsung, refleksi, konseptualisasi, dan penerapan. Kegiatan meliputi pengenalan sejarah dan makna budaya f?rin, pembelajaran kosakata dasar bahasa Jepang, demonstrasi pembuatan, praktik menghias f?rin, presentasi hasil karya, dan refleksi bersama. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui observasi, angket, dan dokumentasi kegiatan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan ini meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap budaya Jepang, memperkaya penguasaan kosakata sederhana, serta menumbuhkan rasa ingin tahu dan sikap menghargai keberagaman budaya. Keterlibatan aktif peserta selama proses pembelajaran menciptakan pengalaman belajar yang menyenangkan, bermakna, dan mendorong interaksi yang lebih baik antara aspek bahasa dan budaya. Dengan demikian, pembuatan f?rin terbukti menjadi media edukasi yang efektif untuk mendukung pembelajaran bahasa Jepang sekaligus memperkuat pemahaman interkultural pada siswa sekolah dasar.
