Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find and classify the most dominant type and function of derivational affixes in Hillary Clinton’s speech. This study used a qualitative descriptive design. The data of this research are taken from speech that comes from mass media and non-verbal form. The result of the analysis shows that the most dominant type of derivational affixes in Hillary Clinton’s speech is the suffix –ing (97%) and the most dominant function of derivational affix is to form noun (63%) which attached to the root/base of the verb. The implication of this research is that the research result is useful to enrich the theory of morphological analysis of complex words so that the process of word formation becomes easier for non-native speakers.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the teacher's role in the use of music and identify the types of music learning applied in kindergarten in stimulating the development of early childhood music. Teachers in kindergartens (N=100) in the kindergarten area of ​​Palu City were asked for data to fill out online questionnaires via google form. Most teachers stated that the use of music is always done every day, especially singing learning activities, listening to children's songs played through cassettes and movement and song learning activities. Teachers also use music to build children's enthusiasm, distract children when children get bored in class, and involve children in all their activities using music to connect the themes that will be studied at that time. Teachers consider music to be the most important and dominant thing in early childhood learning, because it contributes a lot to children's learning and brain development. However, the current obstacle, according to him, is because of the limited ability of teachers in music and there has been no training on the importance of learning music in early childhood, so it is believed that currently teachers are limited in providing music lessons in kindergarten. Therefore, the implementation of teacher preparation and teacher training to learn music in early childhood needs to be socialized.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the increase in student achievement by using the Think Talk Write learning model with the small group discussion method. The subjects in this study were students of class X A Nursing SMK Nusantara Palu, totaling 25 students. This type of research is classroom action research with 2 cycles, each going through the stages of planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The instrument used was a test given after the implementation of the Think Talk Write learning model with the small group discussion method. Analysis of the data used is quantitative analysis. The minimum completeness criteria in English subjects is 75. The indicator of success in this study is if classical completeness is 80. The results obtained from this study in the first cycle the average score of students is 60 and classical completeness is 70.23%, the value increases in the second cycle with an average of 80.3 and 84% completeness. From these results, it can be concluded that the Think Talk Write learning model with the small group discussion method can improve student achievement in class X A Nursing at SMK Nusantara Palu in English subjects.

Abstract

The study aims to determine the effect of applying the STEM approach using Google Classroom on student learning outcomes in acid-base learning. This research is quantitative experimental research with a quasi-experimental. The quasi-experimental design used in this study is a nonequivalent control group design. The sample in this study were students of class XI IPA SMA Al-Khairaat Kolono, 25 students of class XI IPA 1 and 22 students of class XI IPA 2. Data collection techniques used observation and giving tests consisting of pretest and posttest. The results of the learning activity data acquisition were the experimental class 80.4% and the control class 87.5%. This shows that the learning activities of students and teachers during the learning process are categorized as very high. The results of the student test analysis obtained a significance value from the t-test analysis of 0.002 <0.05 so it can be seen that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means that there is an effect of student learning outcomes on the application of the STEM approach to acid-base learning using Google Classroom.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to improve the learning outcomes of class X AKL students at SMKN 2 Palu through the application of the Problem Based Instruction model in the Cultural Arts subject. This research method is classroom action research. The instrument used in this study was a learning outcome test. The data analysis method used is descriptive for qualitative data and quantitative data. The results obtained from this study are changes in student learning outcomes of class X AKL 1 after the application of the Problem Based Instruction model. In the first cycle the average score of students was 75.60 with classical completeness 66.67%, then in the second cycle the average score of students increased to 87.80 with classical completeness 96.67%. From cycle I to cycle II there was an increase in the average grade and classical completeness of class X AKL 1 SMKN 2 Palu. The conclusion of this study is that the Problem Based Instruction learning model can improve student learning outcomes in class X AKL 1 SMKN 2 Palu in the subject of Cultural Arts.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the cognitive reasoning level of students on the material of the arrival of western nations to Indonesia. This research includes quantitative descriptive research. This study involved 30 students of class VIII SMPN 7 Toli-Toli. Data collection techniques in this study was through the provision of tests. The instrument used consisted of 10 diagnostic items in the form of four tiers. The results showed that in the pattern of cognitive reasoning for the formal category was 3.3%, transitional was 67.7%, and concrete was 20.0%. Based on the cognitive level of students' cognitive reasoning level, the results obtained were evaluating 20.0%, analyzing 33.3%, and applying 46.7%. Based on the results, it is known that the highest level of cognitive reasoning possessed by students is applying and the lowest is evaluating.

Abstract

Lesson preparation is a challenging job. Researchers and educators worldwide generally agree that a lesson plan's quality and an efficient teaching-learning process go hand in hand. Meanwhile, mathematical reasoning aids in the development of logical reasoning and critical thinking in mathematics. Inadequate mathematical thinking abilities can affect performance not only in mathematics but also in science, economics, and other subjects. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify teacher difficulties regarding the preparation to improve students’ mathematical reasoning through lesson plans. The study is a descriptive study, one of the qualitative research methods. The data was collected via an online form developed by the researchers and included open-ended questions. The participants of this study were ninety-three mathematics teachers who enrolled in a three-week online workshop about improving students’ mathematical reasoning. Data were analyzed according to the content analysis steps, which is one of the qualitative research methods. It was found that 73,1% of teachers responded that the content load of the curriculum was a major obstacle during planning the lesson to improve students’ mathematical reasoning. And several obstacles are discussed in this paper.

Abstract

Cultural studies through ethnoscience support students' attitudes towards science. Therefore, its use in learning, especially for science students in physics learning materials related to the use of temperature during the production process still needs to be explored. This study aims to introduce the advantages of carica which can be explored through the production of carica dates which are endemic to the village of Atas Awan. This is because carica date products do not go through a boiling process which can damage the important ingredients in carica. This study used a qualitative descriptive research method with data collection techniques carried out through interviews, observation, and experiments. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that carica can be processed into various kinds of preparations that are in great demand and have many benefits, such as carica sweets, carica jam, carica chips, carica chocolate, carica batik, and carica dates. Processing carica into carica dates can be used as an ethnoscience medium to support students' attitudes towards science, especially science students in physics related to the use of temperature during the production process.

Abstract

This study aims to identify students' understanding of the concept of material elasticity after offline learning. The method used is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The subjects in this study were 17 students of SMPN 7 Toli-Toli class VIII who had attended material elasticity through learning. Respondents who were involved in obtaining data were 3 students selected from each level of student ability, namely high, medium, and low. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that students' understanding of the concept of elasticity for respondents in the high category is sufficient to understand the concept, medium category respondents still do not understand the concept, and respondents in the low category still do not understand the concept very well.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop instruments for monitoring and evaluating practicum services in physics laboratories. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires and observation. Respondents in this study were lecturers, PLP, and students who were involved in carrying out practicums in physics laboratories. The instruments developed in this study were a satisfaction questionnaire for laboratory leaders, a student response questionnaire for laboratory staff services, a student satisfaction questionnaire for practicum services, a student response questionnaire for laboratory facilities and infrastructure, and a response questionnaire for practicum modules. The trial results show that the developed physics laboratory practicum service instrument has good quality and is suitable for use as a laboratory monitoring and evaluation instrument.
