Abstract

This research aims to find out and analyze English education students’ perceptions towards online learning during covid-19 pandemic of the second-years undergraduate students of English Education study program at Tadulako University Palu.  This study applied descriptive qualitative research design. The subject of the research was selected using purposive sampling techniques in which 20 students of English Education study program at Tadulako University. Data were collected through questionnaire and documentation. The research found that the students’ perception towards online learning platforms, methodology, and material to be helpful for them during the pandemic. Few of them agreed that they still face many disadvantages using this learning system, their grades are not getting better and few of the students may not have achieved the learning goal by the end of the lecture. These facts are supported by their final score transcription. The result of the data showed that 73% English Education students agree with the statement that the learning through online learning is helpful. The researcher expected that the result of the study could be beneficial for the undergraduate students to use online learning as their learning system.

Abstract

The learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic was carried out online at all levels of education. Online learning makes the use of information technology becomes the concern for teachers, students, and parents. This study aims to analyze the problems faced or experienced by students when learning English during the Covid-19 era. This study uses a survey research design. The population of the study were students of SMK Mandalasila Palu while the research subjects were students of Class XI. The convenience sampling technique was used to choose 25 students as the research sample. Data was collected using a questionnaire then the data were analyzed descriptively. The analysis of the data revealed three issues that students in the Covid-19 era encountered when studying online, technical issues, issues with the teaching and learning process, and external issues. Internet network and application utilization difficulties are the most significant technical problems. Student independence, application of learning processes, tasks, and student inactivity are some of the issues with learning and teaching. External issues include students' incapacity to provide internet quota, as well as the state of their home during the online learning process. The findings of this study suggest that it is crucial to invest in the infrastructure and facilities needed to enable online learning, both at schools and in the areas where students reside.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using Facebook on the social interaction of students at MAN 1 Palu. This research is quantitative research with a survey method. The results showed that there was a significant influence between the use of Facebook on the social interaction of students at MAN 1 Palu. This can be seen from the tcount (6.156) > ttable (1.663), then  is rejected and  is accepted and the coefficient of determination of this study shows the contribution of the influence of the independent variable (X ), namely the use of Facebook on the dependent variable (Y ) namely the social interaction of students at MAN 1 Palu by 49% while the rest is influenced by other variables. This research is expected to be information material for parents and educators to control students in using Facebook as a means of social interaction and especially for students to use Facebook in good ways and not overuse it, so that the negative impact of using Facebook can be prevented and avoided especially if the impact makes students have an anti-social attitude towards the surrounding environment.

Abstract

This research aimed to identify the learning difficulties experienced by students in class XI IPA at SMA Negeri 1 Nuhon in learning the physics topic of work and energy. The research method used was descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The research subjects consisted of six students who were selected based on recommendations from the physics teacher. Data was collected through test questions and analyzed using the stages of the Polya method, namely understanding the problem, planning a solution, implementing the plan, and reviewing it. Additionally, interviews were conducted to support the research. The results showed that students faced difficulties mainly in aspect II (planning problem solving), as most students were unable to write a plan for solving problems, such as outlining the steps and the correct formulas. Difficulties also arose in aspect III (solving problems), where all students struggled to complete and accurately record the correct answers. However, they demonstrated an ability to understand and complete questions one and two well and provide correct answers. Regarding aspect IV (revisiting), students often neglected to double-check and review their work, which resulted in errors. In conclusion, it can be inferred that students experienced difficulties in aspects II, III, and IV.

Abstract

The problem in this research is how to use the blended learning model during the Covid-19 pandemic and the effectiveness of PJOK learning in SMA Kota Palu. This type of research is descriptive quantitative. The population is all public high schools in the city of Palu, totaling 14 schools. Research data collection techniques used are questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The research results were analyzed using frequency distribution and cross tabulation. The findings of the research results were that of the 60 respondents who were given a questionnaire, the respondents who answered that they had never used the blended learning model were 3.3%, quite often as many as 46.7%, said often as much as 26.7%, and very often as many as 5%. In general, from a total of 60 respondents, the effectiveness of the blended learning model that was carried out was that those who answered quite effectively were 45%, effective 28.3%, the rest were divided into other categories which stated that the blended learning model was very effective by 5%, not effective by 15 %, and very ineffective at 6.7%. From the results of this analysis, it can be concluded that in terms of the use of the blended learning model it is used quite often and in terms of the effectiveness of the blended learning model it is quite effective.

Abstract

Reading comprehension skills in English are needed of them by using a learning model, namely Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD). The purpose of the study was to improve reading comprehension skills in English. This study used a classroom action research design. The learning materials were readings related to agriculture and language structure. The results showed that the STAD model effectively improved reading comprehension skills in English. The implementation of learning in the first and second cycles showed an increase in student learning achievement. There were 14 (70%) students who succeeded, and 6 (30%) failed. Furthermore, the success increased to 20 (100%) students in the second cycle. The conclusion is the STAD type learning model can improve students' comprehension ability in reading English and increase students' role in active learning.

Abstract

Science learning aims to provide opportunities for students to cultivate curiosity and seek answers naturally. However, its obstacle is that the learning models selection which is less varied and innovative so that affect student learning outcomes. An alternative solution to overcome these problems is the use of Quantum learning model which creates fun learning atmosphere. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of using Quantum learning model with multi-representation-based science worksheets on grade VIII students learning outcomes. The research design used quasi-experimental form of non-equivalent control group design. The research subjects were grade VIII students of SMPN 03 Bondowoso consisted of 7 classes with 2 classes as the research sample totaling 64 students. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling. Data collection techniques were through pre-test, post-test, observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using statistical tests through normality test, homogeneity test, and independent sample t-test. The experimental class post-test value shows higher than control class. In addition, data analysis shows the data value sig.(2-tailed) of 0.049 < 0.05 which means there are differences in experimental class and the control class learning outcomes. Thus, the Quantum learning model has significant effect on student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between observing and communicating indicators on science process skills. This research is descriptive correlative research with a quantitative approach. The population in this study were all students of class VIII SMP Negeri 03 Pattalassang Gowa Regency, totaling 45 students and spread across 3 different classes. Based on the results obtained, the improvement of the science process (KPS) is as follows. X = Observing, using various senses: collecting or using relevant facts Y = Communicating, describing, or describing empirical data from experiments or observations with graphs or tables or diagrams or converting them in the form of one of them compiling and submitting reports systematically and clearly. The relationship between science process skills on observing and communicating indicators in class VIII students 03 Pattalassang is 0.6376 which is in the strong category.

Abstract

Students cannot achieve the KKM score because of low learning outcomes. There are several factors that cause low learning outcomes, one of which is learning motivation. So in this study aims to determine the level of learning motivation of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 27 Makassar. The research method used is descriptive quantitative which aims to explain the phenomenon systematically. The population in this study was all class VIII and the sample was class VIII.6 using purposive sampling technique. The average learning motivation of students is low during the month of Ramadan due to lack of nutrition and hydration intake, disturbance of sleep patterns, changes in routine, and physical and mental fatigue. While the average learning motivation of students is high before the month of Ramadan because it is caused by time management, physical and mental health and appropriate learning methods.

Abstract

This research aims at investigating the enhancement of students’ speaking ability by applying Communicative Language Teaching (CLT). This research was conducted at SMKN 5 Palu. The subjects were 20 of TKJ A students grade 10. Design of the research used Classroom Action Research conducted in two cycles with three meeting for each using activities; storytelling, role play, game and singing. The research used both qualitative and quantitative data. Data were collected through observation sheet by researcher, field note, questionnaire, and interview. Data were analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. The finding of the research revealed that the applying of CLT can change the students’ learning behavior and attitudes in term of students’ activeness, enthusiasm, participation, and motivation. Moreover, students’ performance on speaking could be enhanced during process of action by achieving the setting up of passing level in cycle 2. Therefore, applying CLT could enhance speaking skill ability.
