Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of a Game-Based Learning model grounded in constructivist theory in the teaching of Science and Social Studies (IPAS) in fourth-grade elementary school classrooms. This descriptive research explores the learning process that incorporates educational games to foster students’ active engagement in constructing conceptual understanding. The participants of this study were fourth-grade teachers and students at SDN 6 Metro Pusat. Data collection techniques included observation and interviews. The findings indicate that the use of Game-Based Learning enhances student participation in learning activities, promotes collaboration, and strengthens conceptual understanding through real-life learning experiences. Data presentation shows that 83% of students expressed agreement with the constructivism-based Game-Based Learning approach, categorized as forceful. In addition, teacher interviews revealed a score of 79%, categorized as strong. Thus, the constructivist-based Game-Based Learning approach has been proven to create an enjoyable learning environment and stimulate students' intrinsic motivation. These findings suggest that the implementation of educational games integrated with a constructivist approach has the potential to be an effective learning strategy to improve the quality of IPAS education in elementary schools

Abstract

Adolescents often face difficulties in expressing thoughts and feelings appropriately, which indicates low assertiveness awareness. Lack of assertiveness can lead to social pressure, interpersonal conflict, and decreased psychological well-being. This study aims to examine how individual counseling services with a psychoeducational approach can build assertiveness awareness in adolescents. This study uses a literature review design by examining scientific sources from relevant national and international journals in the past five years. The search procedure was carried out through databases such as Google Scholar, ResearchGate, and ScienceDirect using the keywords "assertiveness," "adolescents," individual counseling," and "psychoeducation." Selection was carried out based on the relevance, recency, and methodological quality of the articles. Data are presented thematically and analyzed descriptively-qualitatively. The results of the study indicate that the psychoeducational approach in individual counseling is effective in increasing adolescent assertiveness awareness and skills. Individual counseling allows for the delivery of personalized material, while psychoeducation provides conceptual and practical understanding related to assertive behavior. In conclusion, the integration of the psychoeducational approach in individual counseling can be an effective strategy for building adolescent assertiveness awareness holistically.

Abstract

This study conducted a systematic review of gamification-based learning resources in elementary school Civics Education (PKn) to improve student engagement and civic competence. The Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, with the PRISMA framework, was used to analyse 17 empirical studies published between 2019 and 2024. The results showed that gamification significantly improved student motivation (86% of studies), collaborative skills (72%), and civic understanding (68%) through elements such as badges, leaderboards, and interactive simulations. Key success factors include alignment with the curriculum, teacher training, and cultural relevance. In Indonesia, implementation challenges include limited digital infrastructure, as only 35% of rural schools have stable internet access, and teacher readiness is not yet optimal. This study proposes a contextual gamification approach that integrates local values such as cooperation and low-tech solutions to overcome these obstacles. Key findings indicate that gamification is not only a motivational tool but also an effective pedagogical strategy for developing holistic civic competence. Policy recommendations include ongoing teacher training, development of inclusive implementation guidelines, and longitudinal research to measure long-term impacts. In conclusion, gamification designed with local context and infrastructure limitations in mind can be a sustainable solution to revitalise civic learning in Indonesia.

The low learning motivation of students during the Pancasila Education learning process motivated this research. The study was caused by students feeling bored due to the use of monotonous and unvaried learning media. The aim of this study was to increase students' learning motivation in the Pancasila Education subject through the use of Zep Quiz media. This research was conducted in the form of Classroom Action Research (CAR), which consisted of two cycles. Each cycle consisted of one meeting that included four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research involved 37 students as the research subjects, specifically from class XI.9 of SMA Negeri 3 Palembang. The study employed two data collection techniques: observation and documentation. The results showed an increase in students' learning motivation from 43% in the pre-cycle, then increasing to 68% in cycle I, and rising again to 88% in cycle II, reaching the "Very Good" category. Thus, the use of Zep Quiz media proved to be effective in enhancing students' motivation in learning Pancasila Education.

Abstract

This study explores the impact of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) on teaching social studies to primary school students, specifically focusing on its influence on critical thinking skills and learning outcomes. The research used a mixed-methods approach and employed proportional stratified sampling to select participants from five accredited public primary schools in Banyumas, Central Java. Quantitative data was collected through pre-tests and post-tests to measure students' performance before and after implementing PjBL. Additionally, qualitative insights were obtained from semi-structured interviews with teachers to understand their experiences and perceptions of PjBL. The findings demonstrate a statistically significant positive correlation between PjBL implementation and improving students' critical thinking skills and academic performance in social studies. Furthermore, teachers reported increased student engagement and a more profound understanding of social studies concepts. This research contributes to the existing knowledge of PjBL by providing empirical evidence of its effectiveness in primary education, particularly within social studies instruction. The findings offer practical strategies for educators who aim to use PjBL to enhance critical thinking and academic achievement among young learners.
