Abstract

The decline in the price of palm oil FFB in the last two years has resulted in a decrease in the income of the Makmue Beusaree Farmers Group, sluggish business enthusiasm, and resulted in abandoned palm oil plantations. This program continues the design of fertilization technology in mountainous areas. Then there is the connection between this technology, and cow manure as a source of raw material for compost fertilizer. So, a combination of oil palm plantations and cattle farming is needed. The problem is, that partners still lack knowledge about managing cattle farms that are integrated with oil palm plantations. This service is carried out to provide basic conceptual knowledge regarding integrated agricultural skills and management. The approach used to answer partner problems is through training and monitoring. The types of training that will be carried out are techniques for determining the location for building and constructing cow sheds, training for raising cows, business financial management systems and techniques for obtaining cow seeds using the mawah system as well as systems and strategies for marketing cows and selling FFB that are more effective and profitable for farmers.  The mentoring approach aims to increase and stabilize the income of oil palm farmers by making Gampoeng Teupin Panah, Kaway XVI District, West Aceh as a gampoeng assisted by the Faculty of Economics, Teuku Umar University

Abstract

This community service program was conducted in Ladang Baro Village, Panga District, Aceh Jaya Regency, an area with abundant coconut resources where coconut water remains underutilized and is often discarded as waste. The program aimed to introduce a simple method for producing sweet soy sauce from coconut water, improve community knowledge and skills, and support the formation of a product-based business group. The program applied participatory action research through socialization, local potential identification, hands-on training, quality testing, and institutional mentoring. It involved one supervising lecturer, seven students, and twenty community participants. The results showed the production of 3 liters of coconut water-based sweet soy sauce, a 75% increase in participants’ evaluation scores, and the establishment of the “Kelapa Desa Ladang Baro” business group with 25 active members. These findings indicate that coconut water can be transformed into a value-added product supporting waste reduction and economic strengthening.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out with the aim of strengthening the capacity of oil palm farmers in formulating more profitable strategies for selling Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) in Teupin Panah Village, Kaway XVI District, West Aceh Regency. The problems faced by farmers include low FFB selling prices, high dependence on middlemen, lengthy marketing chains, and limited access to market price information. The implementation of the activity employed a participatory approach consisting of socialization, training, and direct field assistance. The materials delivered included an understanding of the FFB price formation mechanism, determining the optimal harvesting time, techniques for maintaining fruit quality, and selecting more efficient marketing channels. The results of the activity showed an improvement in farmers’ understanding of FFB selling strategies, enhanced ability to determine harvesting time and maintain harvest quality, as well as better access to and utilization of market price information. In addition, there was a behavioral change in selling activities, where farmers began comparing prices before selling, reducing dependence on middlemen, and considering direct sales to palm oil mills (POMs). Another visible impact was the increased efficiency of marketing costs and the growth of farmers’ income margins. Overall, the capacity strengthening through this activity proved effective in improving farmers’ bargaining position within the FFB marketing system and contributed to enhancing the welfare of smallholder oil palm farmers.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the understanding of traditional shipyard stakeholders regarding the importance of feasibility studies in implementing ship docking technology. The program was conducted at CV Wahana Karya, a traditional shipyard in Pasi Pinang Village, Meureubo District, West Aceh Regency, involving the owner, director, and operational workers. A participatory knowledge transfer approach was applied through three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The materials covered feasibility study concepts, their role in decision-making, and the potential benefits of docking technology. Data were collected through observation, discussion, and participant feedback, and analyzed descriptively. The results show an increased understanding among participants regarding the role of feasibility studies in supporting efficient and informed decision-making. However, implementation readiness remains limited due to financial constraints, workforce preparedness, and resistance to change. This activity demonstrates that knowledge transfer is essential in bridging research and practice and serves as an initial step toward improving operational efficiency in traditional shipyards.

Abstract

Flood disasters in Pidie Jaya Regency adversely affect food security and the nutritional status of toddlers due to disrupted access to essential nutrients. This community service aimed to provide local food-based Supplementary Feeding (PMT) in the form of mung bean porridge and soy milk to toddlers in Blang Cut Village. The methods included field observations, nutritional education using visual media, and PMT distribution. The results showed an increase in mothers' nutritional literacy regarding processing affordable local food rich in protein, iron, and zinc. The PMT products had high acceptability as children liked the taste and texture. In conclusion, pulse-based PMT intervention is an effective solution for emergency nutritional fulfillment for flood survivors to prevent stunting risks. Program sustainability is supported by the community's enthusiasm for replicating food processing independently to strengthen post-disaster health resilience.

Abstract

The Community Service Program in Kuala Bhee Village, Woyla District, West Aceh Regency, aims to empower the community through training in dish soap production. This program is motivated by the human resource potential in the village and the community's desire to improve economic welfare through the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), despite facing limitations in product innovation and access to entrepreneurship training. The methodology of the activity included field surveys to identify problems of dependence on products from outside the village, socialization of the importance of MSMEs and the benefits of training, as well as hands-on practice in making dishwashing soap. The soap-making process was taught in detail, from the introduction of raw materials to mixing and packaging techniques. The results of this activity show that participants are now able to identify important ingredients and understand the production process, and some participants have shown enthusiasm and interest in turning dish soap making into a new business opportunity. Thus, this training has succeeded in providing new skills, opening up insights into business opportunities, and increasing the economic independence of the Kuala Bhee Village community.
