Abstract

Oral health promotion is a preventive effort aimed at increasing awareness and healthy behaviors from an early age. This study was conducted in Bajo Soropia Indah Village to evaluate the effectiveness of oral health promotion in improving children's knowledge and tooth brushing habits. The methods used included health education, demonstration of proper tooth brushing techniques, topical fluoride application, and plaque index examination as an indicator of oral hygiene. The results showed that all child participants (n=6) had poor plaque index scores (100%). Following the implementation of the health promotion program, an increase in knowledge and a shift in behavior regarding oral hygiene are expected. The findings emphasize the importance of educational interventions and routine check-ups in preventing dental and oral diseases among children in remote areas. Community-based health promotion programs have proven to be a relevant approach in improving children's oral health status.

This community service activity aimed to empower families in utilizing Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA) as a form of complementary midwifery care. The method used was interactive lectures combined with discussion, basic demonstrations, and structured interviews with five key informants, including a village midwife, health cadres, and housewives. The interviews revealed that public knowledge about TOGA remained traditional and unstructured, but there was strong enthusiasm for developing home TOGA gardens. Informants viewed TOGA as an affordable, accessible natural alternative, especially for minor complaints in maternal and child health. The main barriers identified were limited practical knowledge and the availability of plant seeds. This activity successfully increased community understanding and motivation to apply TOGA independently and appropriately. It also opened opportunities for forming village-based TOGA communities. Abstract

The coastal village of Boddia in Takalar Regency faces increasing waste pollution due to the community’s limited awareness of sustainable waste management. To address this issue, a community service initiative was implemented using the Eco-Language approach, which integrates language and technology literacy in educating residents through the establishment of a local waste bank. Abstract

This Community Service (PkM) activity aims to enhance the transparency and accountability of cooperative financial management through the implementation of a Simple Accounting Information System (SAIS) in several active cooperatives in Takalar Regency. The primary challenges faced by these cooperatives include manual financial record-keeping, susceptibility to errors, and a lack of accurate report availability, which hinders decision-making and erodes member trust. The service methodology employs a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, involving an initial survey, SAIS design based on spreadsheets, intensive training, and implementation assistance for eight core cooperative administrators. Data was collected through interviews, observations, and questionnaires administered to twelve active members. The activity's results indicate that cooperative administrators are able to operate the SAIS independently, producing monthly financial reports that were previously difficult to generate. The implementation of SAIS significantly improved members' perceptions of cooperative transparency and accountability, evidenced by easier access to information and an increase in trust. This success suggests that appropriate technology, even when simple, can be effective in improving cooperative financial governance and strengthening the foundation of trust. It is hoped that the outcomes of this PKM can serve as a replication model for other cooperatives in Takalar Regency to achieve more professional and sustainable financial management.
