Abstract

The United Nations Security Council is a forum created by the United Nations based on the United Nations Charter which contains good and noble goals for the creation of peace and harmony among countries in the international region. The United Nations Security Council with all the specificities given by the United Nations makes this association an international law enforcer for countries that violate international customs and norms. However, not in line with the purpose and function of the establishment of the United Nations Security Council, often the Security Council shows a political-legal attitude that is contrary to its duties and functions, the use of veto privileges that should be used for countries that violate the provisions of international humanitarian law is instead used to exert political emphasis in order to achieve a global domination. Then the question is about the practice of legal provisions applied by  the United Nation Security Council in imposing international sanctions against countries in conflict and the legal responsibility of the UN Security Council against countries that violate the provisions of humanitarian law in armed conflicts. This study aims to find out and observe the provisions of international law applied by  the United Nation Security Council (UNSC) in imposing international sanctions against countries in conflict, as well as to know, study and analyze the responsibility of the UN Security Council in imposing sanctions against countries that violate the provisions of humanitarian law in armed conflicts. Furthermore, this study uses a normative research method with Primary Legal Materials in the form of expert interviews and secondary legal materials in the form of international legal agreements and international regulations. That in terms of practice, the UN Security Council needs to carry out its duties and functions in accordance with the regulations stipulated in the UN Charter and prioritize the principles that are upheld in the midst of the United Nations by always adhering to its legal responsibilities.

Abstract

General elections are one of the instruments in the political systems of democratic countries in the world. In its implementation, it always uses an agreed system in the form of statutory regulations. The formulation of the regulations used is based on the political system, culture and social characteristics of each country. However, in reality, conflicts often arise which result in the quality of democracy decreasing. The things that underlie the emergence of conflict are differences in interests, goals and ideologies. The problems in the general election described above also occurred in the 2024 Indonesian general election, where the constitution was changed to suit the political interests of certain groups. This is categorized as political distortion. Changes in the conditions of the president and vice president cause political distortions in the 2024 Indonesian general election. The result is how the powers that be undermine the constitution to make nominating the vice president easier. The president and vice president must be at least forty years old. The Constitutional Court's changes added a new clause that covers people who have served as regional heads. The public responded to this as an attempt by the Constitutional Court, led by Anwar Usman, uncle of Gibran Rakabuming Raka, to pass President Joko Widodo's son.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the largest countries that play a role in world coal exports. Coal is one of the non-oil and gas or mining export commodities that has an important role in the economy. The purpose of this study is to analyze the competitiveness and factors that influence Indonesia’s coal exports to the five main destination countries in 2012-2022. The data used is panel data, which is a combination of time series and cross-section data obtained through the Central Bureau of Statistics, BP Statistical Review Of World Energy, UN Comtrade, World Bank, as well as related articles and journals. To analyze the comparative competitiveness of Indonesian coal commodities in the five destination countries, the RCA (Revealed Comparative Advantage) method is used. This study uses a non-participant observation data collection method. The data analysis technique in this study is panel data regression analysis using Eviews 12 software. The results of this study indicate that the competitiveness and economic distance variables have a positive and significant effect on the volume of Indonesia’s coal exports to the five destination countries, while the exchange rate and GDP variables have a negative and insignificant effect on Indonesia’s coal exports to the five destination countries.

Abstract

Type II diabetes mellitus is characterized by high blood sugar levels that trigger complications and reduce the quality of life physically, psychologically, socially, and environmentally. Quality of life is used to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and monitor public health. The purpose of the study was to analyze the most influential factors on the quality of life in patients with type II diabetes mellitus at Anshari Saleh Hospital, Banjarmasin. The research method used Cross-sectional with Purposive Sampling technique of 83 respondents. The independent variables were age, gender, education, income, complications, duration of suffering, family support and the dependent variable of quality of life using bivariate with Chi-Square, while multivariate analysis with multiple logistic regression used the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire as an instrument of quality of life. The results of the study showed that there was an influence between education level (p = 0.000), income level (p = 0.008), disease complications (p = 0.002), duration of suffering (p = 0.021), family support (p = 0.021) and education level factors (OR = 60,527) which had the most influence on the quality of life in patients with type II diabetes mellitus. Education level affects the quality of life of diabetes sufferers through understanding and managing the disease. Higher education makes it easier to understand health information, improving quality of life. Meanwhile, low education can reduce quality of life due to difficulty understanding information even though broad knowledge can improve the situation. However, lack of awareness to behave healthily still has a negative impact on the quality of life physically, psychologically, socially, and environmentally. It is hoped that nursing services will provide more continuous education by forming peer groups (diabetes classes), and WhatsApp groups to improve health education for type II diabetes mellitus sufferers according to their level of education in increasing their knowledge.

Abstract

The role of parents is crucial in the emotional development of early childhood, which is an important foundation for their social and psychological development in the future. This article aims to explore strategies for developing children's emotions that can be applied by parents in the family environment. This community service activity was carried out through a series of training and mentoring for parents, which included an understanding of children's emotional development, effective communication techniques, and the application of positive emotional stimulation methods. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and evaluation of parent participation during the program. The results of the community service showed that active involvement of parents in strategies such as giving appreciation, validating emotions, and establishing positive routines can improve children's emotional stability. In addition, a collaborative approach between parents and facilitators also encouraged the creation of a supportive environment for early childhood. Thus, the role of parents in the development of children's emotions not only affects family relationships but is also a key factor in shaping children's emotionally healthy characters. Keywords: Role of parents, emotional development, early childhood, parenting strategies, family training.

Abstract

Abstract

People smuggling is an illegal practice that involves the smuggling of individuals or groups of people from one country to another with the aim of facilitating their unlawful presence. This research aims to identify the factors causing the occurrence of people smuggling in East Nusa Tenggara Province and the role of the government in addressing people smuggling in East Nusa Tenggara Province. This research uses a qualitative research approach. The data collection techniques are observation, interviews (interview guide), and documentation. For the sample in this study, purposive sampling was used. Then, the data validity testing includes credibility testing, transferability testing, reliability testing, and objectivity testing. The data analysis techniques, according to Miles and Huberman, use data reduction, data display, and conclusion or verification. The research results show that prolonged conflicts in the immigrants' countries of origin related to politics and security (such as Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, etc.) as well as the poor economic conditions resulting from these conflicts drive the desire for a better life, becoming the main factors that give rise to the issue of people smuggling. The government's steps to anticipate and address the crime of people smuggling are through cooperation and collaboration from all related elements such as local governments, the military, the police, immigration, and UNHCR through socialization and guidance, joint sea patrols, and checking the legal status of foreigners and refugees.

Abstract

Digital Assets Inheritance also can be defined the same as the inheritance itself. What makes the Digital Assets Inheritance different is the assets would be inherited. Digital Assets is anything that is owned in the form of digital rather than a physical one. Digital Assets could include; Social media accounts, Digital photos and videos, Loyalty points, Websites, E-book, and so on. Digital assets vary a lot in terms of both type and value. Some types might only have sentimental value, such as photos or family videos. Others might have significant monetary value, such as cryptocurrency, monetised social media accounts or unpublished manuscripts. Legally speaking, anything that a person owns becomes part of their estate when they die. This includes digital assets. Personal representatives should be able to access digital assets in order to access and distribute them among beneficiaries. However, this is not always straightforward in practice. If the person who has died has not left instructions on how to log in or to access digital assets, their personal representatives will have to follow the policies of each company with whom the person who has died had an account. These policies will not necessarily make it possible for loved ones to access accounts, which can mean that digital assets of sentimental value such as emails, photographs and written text might be lost. Planning in advance for these eventualities can avoid this. When you make a Will, you can choose to include instructions on how to access your digital accounts after your death. Some digital accounts also allow you to add a ‘legacy contact’ or ‘inactive account manager’ who would be authorized to manage your account should you no longer be able to.
