Abstract

The application of the death penalty as a punishment for severe crimes has long been a controversial topic in legal and criminological discourse. This article explores the impact of the death penalty's application on reducing crime rates from two main perspectives: law and criminology. This study uses a qualitative approach with in-depth literature analysis of death penalty policies in various countries, as well as empirical data on crime trends before and after the implementation of the death penalty. From a legal perspective, this article examines how the death penalty is justified as the most extreme tool of law enforcement and how it is integrated within the existing legal framework in several jurisdictions. From a criminological point of view, this article examines theories and research that evaluate the effectiveness of the death penalty as a determinant against crime. The analysis includes a study of the psychological effects of the death penalty on potential offenders, as well as a statistical evaluation of the correlation between the death penalty and a decrease in crime rates. The results of the analysis show that although there is some evidence to support the effectiveness of the death penalty as a crime deterrent, this evidence is often inconclusive and influenced by many contextual factors. In addition, we found that the application of the death penalty usually carries significant ethical and social implications, which can limit its effectiveness and acceptance in society. This article concludes with a discussion of the policy implications of these findings. It provides recommendations for law enforcement and policymakers in balancing crime prevention goals with the principles of justice and human rights. We also call for the need for more holistic research to fully understand the impact of the death penalty on crime levels.

Abstract

Local Original Revenue is part of the financial resources of local governments and has a major contribution to increasing Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This means that the higher the PAD obtained from the local government, the higher the value of the region's GDP. Efforts to increase PAD continue to increase and are balanced by its very dynamic growth compared to the amount of other banking loans. The purpose of this study was to see the effect of PAD development (X1), SME Credit Financing (X2) on the growth of Palu City GDP (Y). The type of data used in this study is secondary data obtained from the official website of the DJPK of the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bureau of Statistics. The research approach used is a quantitative approach to answer the hypothesis. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant effect between SME credit financing and PAD development. Then in this case, the growth of SMEs is measured by the total output obtained. As with the testing of the second hypothesis, it also results in the statement that there is a growth in SME GDP that has a close relationship with economic growth.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the perceptions, utilization, and integration of herbal treatments within contemporary healthcare systems. By adopting a qualitative research approach, this study primarily relies on an extensive literature review to gather and analyze data. The research seeks to provide a comprehensive understanding of how herbal medicine is perceived by patients and healthcare providers, how it is utilized across different cultural contexts, and the challenges associated with integrating herbal treatments into mainstream healthcare. The findings reveal that while herbal medicine is widely perceived as a natural and safer alternative to conventional pharmaceuticals, significant concerns remain regarding the standardization, quality control, and potential herb-drug interactions. The study also highlights the variability in the utilization of herbal treatments, with some regions relying heavily on traditional practices, while others use them as complementary therapies. The integration of herbal treatments into healthcare systems presents both opportunities and challenges, with a need for more robust clinical evidence and standardized protocols. The study concludes by emphasizing the importance of sustainable research that addresses these challenges and proposes future research directions, including community-based studies and the exploration of the environmental impact of herbal medicine. These findings contribute to the ongoing discourse on the role of herbal treatments in disease therapy and underscore the need for a multidisciplinary approach to advance the field.
