Abstract

The purpose of this article is to discuss how learning mathematics through problem solving can develop students' critical thinking abilities. To achieve this goal, the method used is to describe how learning mathematics through problem solving can develop students' critical thinking skills based on research on supporting references. In the era of globalization, someone can obtain information in various ways, places and times. So that the information a person obtains is useful and does not have a negative impact, a "filter" is needed to filter all the information received. One of these filters is a person's critical thinking ability. Armed with critical thinking skills, an individual will carefully and deliberately determine/consider whether to accept, reject, or delay information. Because critical thinking skills are important, everyone should have them. One way to teach it is through learning mathematics, especially learning that uses problem solving methods. By participating in mathematics learning that uses problem solving methods, students are taught to use critical thinking skills at every stage, starting from understanding problems, designing solutions, implementing plans, to evaluating the results that have been achieved. By consistently being trained to use critical thinking skills in learning to solve mathematical problems, it is hoped that we can "develop" students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Android-based interactive multimedia has now become a trend in improving user experience. Android-based interactive multimedia is an operating system that supports learning programs, which has the characteristic of encouraging students to be able to study independently without having to be guided. The development of Android-based interactive multimedia can provide significant benefits in various fields, such as education, entertainment and business. The development of Android-based interactive multimedia on SPLDV material can increase students' understanding through visualization and interactivity. Such multimedia may include animations, simulations, and interactive exercises to reinforce SPLDV concepts. The aim of this research is to develop Android-based interactive multimedia as an evaluation instrument for mathematics learning with a focus on SPLDV material. The research method used is the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Evaluation instruments are designed to enhance students' understanding of the concept of SPLDV through an interactive multimedia approach.

Abstract

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) is an education system that can develop students' ability to solve problems, be more innovative, independent, and can connect what they learn at school with real life. Good innovation is when students are able to connect all aspects of STEM and combine four inter-disciplinary aspects of STEM so that they can solve a problem. The four STEM disciplines that have been described by Torlakson (2014) are: (a) Science, which is the science of nature, which represents natural laws related to physics, chemistry and biology and the treatment or application of related facts, principles, concepts and convections. with these scientific disciplines. (b) Technology, is a skill or a system used in managing society, organizations, knowledge or can be defined as a product of science and engineering. (c) Engineering, is engineering knowledge by utilizing concepts from science and mathematics as well as technological tools to solve a problem. (d) Mathematics, is knowledge that connects quantities, space and numbers which requires logical arguments.

Abstract

Higher order thinking skills (HOTS) are high-level thinking abilities that involve more complex thinking processes in analyzing arguments, identifying, evaluating and developing critical, creative and analytical thinking skills. The development of test instruments for student learning outcomes can be seen from the level of difficulty of the questions as well as the validity and reliability of the test. A lesson is said to be successful if students master a concept, because the concept that has been understood will stick in the students' memory for a long period of time. Given the importance of mathematics, students are expected to discover and understand mathematical concepts. In mastering mathematical concepts, students must have high-level thinking skills. One way to find out whether students already have these skills is by conducting an assessment. Many studies show that students in Indonesia have low HOTS abilities compared to other countries.

Abstract

This research aims to explain the skills of guiding discussions in small groups and individuals. using descriptive methods in qualitative research. The descriptive method in research is research for the purpose of explaining or describing events, objects, circumstances, or variables which are explained using numbers and words. The type of descriptive method in qualitative research is a type of library research from document literature from various sources related to the skills of guiding discussions and small groups and individuals. The skill of guiding small group discussions carried out by teachers is a teacher trainee skill. In teaching activities there are times when conducting group discussion activities. Discussion activities involve mental and emotional activities that can improve interpersonal relationships. So the teacher's skills in guiding small group discussions are needed to ensure the continuation of the discussion effectively. In this learning, the learning atmosphere is developed for... critical thinking and problem solving skills, collaboration and communication, creativity and innovation.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of strategies for developing mathematical problem-solving abilities at certain educational levels. Mathematical problem-solving is a critical skill required in various contexts of daily life and has a significant impact on the ability to understand mathematical concepts. The research method involved two groups of students, namely the control group and the treatment group. The control group followed conventional learning, while the treatment group was given special development strategies to improve mathematical problem-solving abilities. Research instruments include problem-solving tests, observations, and questionnaires. Data analysis was carried out through statistical techniques, including descriptive analysis and hypothesis testing. The research results showed that the group of students who applied the development strategy experienced a significant increase in mathematical problem-solving abilities compared to the control group. This research contributes to the practical understanding of the effectiveness of strategies for developing mathematical problem-solving abilities in specific educational environments. The implications of this research can be used as a guide to improve learning approaches in the context of developing mathematical problem-solving abilities at the relevant educational level.

Abstract

The curriculum is the spearhead for carrying out educational activities. Without a program, education cannot function normally effectively and efficiently as it should. The 2013 program is a replacement for the 2006 Unit Level Teaching Program (KTSP) which aims to ensure that Indonesian education can produce productive people, creative and innovative by strengthening the level of integrated attitudes, skills and knowledge. This research aims to describe the obstacles faced by teachers when implementing the 2013 mathematics curriculum at senior high school (SMA) level. This research uses a literature review method, including collecting reading sources from journals, accompanying books and relevant books. The results of the research show that the implementation of the 2013 education program, especially at the high school level, still has obstacles starting from the planning stage which includes building, developing the program and preparing lesson plans: at the implementation stage, teachers experience difficulties in adapting the lesson plans to be implemented in the classroom, where teachers still apply the same teaching methods. requires students to be more active in class and some student teachers are still not able to optimally use classroom learning aids to support interesting mathematics learning; and at the research stage, not all teachers use the standards that have been prepared in the RPP.

Abstract

Mathematical literacy is the ability to formulate, use and interpret mathematics in various contexts of daily life problems. Mathematical literacy skills are not only about basic algorithms, formulas, procedures or conventions but are also expected to be able to analyze, think critically and reason, and communicate ideas and be able to solve problems so that they can make life easier. Based on PISA 2015, students' abilities in mathematics in Indonesia are still low compared to other countries. Teachers as educators must instill a positive perception of mathematics in students. For this reason, teachers are required to innovate mathematics learning by choosing learning methods that suit the material and student characteristics so that it will increase student motivation. With such efforts, students will improve their critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the use of technology to improve mathematics learning skills in the digital era. With the rapid development of information and communication technology, the world of education is also caught up in the digitalization trend, in line with the global need to adapt to technological developments that can improve the quality of education. Mathematics, one of the basic science fields, has also experienced great progress in the digital era. The interaction process between teachers and students in the current digital era is different from before. The place where the learning process (interaction) takes place will begin to shift to digital learning interactions. In order for the learning process to change from generation to generation, learning strategies are needed that are appropriate to developments in information technology. This research provides valuable insights for educators, curriculum developers, to improve mathematics learning evaluation strategies by utilizing technology in the digital era. It is hoped that the practical implications of this research can support more effective decision making in developing a competitive mathematics learning environment in the digital era.
