Abstract

This study discusses the existence of Among-among birth in Jorong Sungai Lambai, Lubuk Gadang Selatan, South Solok Regency. The purpose of this study is to find out how the existence of the Among-among tradition and also the procedures for implementing the Among-among tradition in the Lambai River area. The theories used in this study are existentialism and structural functional theories. The existence of Among-among tradition in the community so that it can survive until now in the midst of modern society. The method used is qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. Data collection techniques are observation, interviews, literature studies, and documentation. . The findings in this study are that the Lambai River community carries out the Among-among tradition of birth with an uncomplicated process, the conditions in its implementation are so easy to find around their residence. The existence of this tradition is very meaningful for the community for further survival.

Abstract

This thesis is entitled “The Phenomenon of Early Marriage: A Case Study in Teluk Kuali Village, Tebo Ulu District, Tebo District, Jambi Province”. The purpose of this research is to describe Early Marriage, that is, there are factors that cause Early Marriage, these factors are also inherent in a person which causes social problems. The theory used in this thesis is the phenomenological theory of Alfred Schutz. The method that the author uses is a qualitative method, with data collection techniques namely observation, interviews and documentation. The requirement for a person to marry is when a woman reaches the age of 19 (nineteen) years, and for a man 19 (nineteen) years this is stated in the Law on Marriage. Early marriage is a marriage carried out by a pair of teenagers (boys and girls) who are less than 19 years old and immature physically and psychologically. The Impact of Early Marriage has positive and negative impacts, the positive impacts are becoming more independent, avoiding adultery, and reducing the burden on parents. Furthermore, it can also be seen from the side of the negative impact, namely, it often causes problems in the household, education, and a low economy.

Abstract

This study discusses the strategy used by the Bukittinggi City Tourism Office towards bendi as cultural transportation. The purpose of this study is to explain the changes in the function that occurred in bendi from the Dutch colonial era until now and the strategies carried out so that this bendi tourism can survive until now. The research method used is qualitative research. Data collection techniques include field observations, interviews, and documentation. The theory used is Talcott Parson's theory of Modernization and the Theory of Change by John Lewis Gillin. The finding of this study is that bendi underwent a change in function, bendi was originally the main transportation used by the ruler because at that time bendi was the only mainstay transportation. The progress of science and technology gradually resulted in vehicles becoming varied so that bendi became public vehicles that all people could ride. The development of technology, making bendi no longer a public transportation but converted into cultural transportation used by the Bukittinggi Tourism Office to become a mainstay tourism. The strategy offered by the Bukittinggi City Tourism Office in maintaining bendi is to provide training to bendi coachmen, deworming to bendi horses, provide decorative lights, brand signs, and uniforms, then number the bendi, and finally the base site determination.

Abstract

This thesis is entitled “The Mamantai Kambiang Tradition in Weddings at Nagari Silantai, Kecamatan Sumpur Kudus, Kabupaten Sijunjung, Provinsi Sumatera Barat”. The mamantai kambiang tradition is a tradition that has existed since ancient times. When the ancient ancestors were still around, but the tradition is still valid and carried out until now. The purpose of this study is to describe the procession of the mamantai kambiang tradition at a wedding in Nagari Silantai. The theory used in this thesis is the theory of symbolic interpretive by Clifford Geertz. This study uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques, namely observation, interviews and documentation. In the procession of the Mamantai Kambiang tradition, there are 2 prisonerts that have just been carried out, namely (preparation and holding), and mamanggigh (calling/ inviting). And in the implementation taban there are also several sections, namely, mamantai kambiang, cooking. Cooking, aka ukah, wine from bako house, sitting in mananti marapulai, and arak ka bako house. The meaning of the tradition of mamantai kambiang for the Nagari Silantai, mamantai kambiang symbolizes the meaning of an award, which is because it uses a goat that has four legs, why does it have to have four legs, because apart from animals that most valuable at that time in Nagari Silantai. In addition, the body part of the kambiang is most needed is the head, which is a form of respect. Some of the meanings of the kambiang head and the meaning of diamond and sipuluik food in the mamantai kambiang tradition.

Abstract

  This thesis entitled “Bakawugh Tradition in Nagari Sumpur Kudus Sijunjung west Sumatera Province” The purpose of this research is to regency describes the bakawugh tradision carried out by the community in Nagari Sumpur Kudus. The theory used in this thesis is symbolic interpretative theory by Clifford Geertz. The medhod used by the author is qualitativemethod, with data collection techniques namely observation, interview, and dokumentation. The results of the study show that the background of the bakawugh tradition comes from the idea of Syekh Ibrahim himself in 1520. In general, the meaning of the bakawugh tradition is thanksgiving, gathering and practicing the charakteristics of Syekh Ibrahim. Social, respect of mind, patience and struggle, togetherness, and hope. Furthermore there are meanings in the contents of jambaigh such as the meaning of peace, purity, freedom, simplicity and ease, unity, tenderness, kinship and closeness, closeness, brotherhood.

Abstract

This research discuss about graffiti become playing media for youth in Batang Anai subdistrict. The graffiti is human activity in a culture. The youth graffitiers in Batang Anai create the characters and font in playing graffiti and it as an playing media having certain functions from graffitiers. The purpose of this research is to describe the meaning behind characters and graffiti font as playing media for youth in Batang Anai. The research method in this research is qualitative. The technique of collecting data by doing observation, literature review, interview, and documentation. The writer use semiotics theory by Charles Pierce to analyze meaning and to analyze the function use theory by Robert K. Merton. Based on this research, the conclusion is the meaning characters and graffiti font the youth as graffitiers in Batang Anai such as emoticons, frog’ science, adopt the scorpions way of survival, the birthrate, and abbreviation the real name. Abstract

This study discusses the problem of community conflict related to inheritance disputes that occurred in Kanagarian Koto Nan Ampek, Payakumbuh City. The purpose of this study is to explain the background of the conflict in Kanagarian Koto Nan Ampek and the resolution given based on the conflict that has arisen. The theory used is Lewis A. Coser's theory of conflict. The method used is qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. Data collection techniques are field observations, interviews, and documentation. The findings of this study are the conflict over inheritance disputes that occurred in Kanagarian Koto Nan Ampek caused by several factors including the lack of knowledge of the heirs regarding the inheritance, the allotment of inheritance which is not known jointly, socially and economically. The impact of this is that there is a change in the character of the Koto Nan Ampek community towards inheritance, which previously guarded inheritance, changed to selling heirlooms. Then there are several solutions offered based on the factors causing the conflict, namely education by traditional institutions or people who know about inheritance, written agreements, and deliberations for consensus.

Abstract

This study discusses the face-to-face rice procession at the wedding party of the Malay community in Simpang Empat Village. The purpose of this study is to explain the face-to-face rice procession and the form of change in the face-to-face rice procession at the wedding feast of the Malay community in Simpang Empat Village. The research method used is qualitative research. Data collection techniques include field observations, interviews, and documentation. The theories used in this study are the theory of Tradition from Coomans and the theory of Social Change from J.L Gillin and J.P Gillin. The results of this study explain that the face-to-face rice tradition consists of a preparatory stage, then followed by an implementation stage. At the implementation stage, it begins with gathering the bride and groom, served various dishes, then begins the game of pulling flowers, looking for chicken in rice, eating and drinking together, choosing the food you like, distributing food, and finally repeating the in-laws.Along with the times, The tradition of face-to-face rice has also changed. Changes in terms of form and materials used, changes in terms of function are carried out and there are changes in the series of events of the face-to-face breastfeeding process. The cause of changes in the face-to-face rice tradition is due to technological advances, people's thinking that has begun to change, and economic factors.

Abstract

As relics of the past, ancient manuscripts are able to provide information on various aspects of the lives of past communities such as politics, economics, socio-culture, traditional medicine, the veil of earthquakes or natural phenomena, human physiology, and so on. The values of this information are needed to relate the good values of the past to be applied today. Media offerings related to Sundanese manuscripts are limited. Among of limited information from the website, www.kiraga.com emerged as one of the public parties that participated to preservation of this cultural heritage, especially in the scope of Sundanese manuscripts. Participation culture is defined as a new form of culture that develops due to the support of information technology, where individuals or members of a community can participate in the creation and distribution of content. This research is qualitative research with case study method, researchers try to analyze the participatory culture of kairaga.com website in preserving Sundanese manuscripts. The data collection techniques used are interviews, observation, and documentation. From the results of the research, the website manager collaborated with Pustaka Sunda, Sakola Aksara Sunda Cianjur, Masyarakat Pernaskahan Nusantara (Manassa), Jagongan Naskah (Jangkah) with various circles of Sundanese manuscript lovers both from within and outside country to become an integral part of cultural expansion because it increases the community's ability to collaborate, namely developing and disseminating news, ideas, and creative works and connecting with people who have the same goals and interests in this case content development.

Abstract

Postpartum Hemorrhagic is still the main cause of maternal death. While anemia is a major contributor to maternal morbidity, therefore, to prevent Postpartum Hemorrhagic (PPH), it is important to be aware of the occurrence of anemia during pregnancy. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between anemia in pregnancy and postpartum hemorrhagic events at the Sukodono Health Center, Sidoarjo. This research is an observational study with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study was 125 respondents, a sample of 42 respondents was obtained using purposive sampling technique. Data collection used secondary data (medical records January - December 2022). Data were analyzed using the Fisher's Exact Test statistic with a significance level of α (0.05). The results showed that the ρ-value = 0.008, meaning that ρ (0.008) < α (0.05) or H1 is accepted: there is a relationship between anemia in pregnancy and the incidence of postpartum hemorrhagic (PPH) at the Sukodono Health Center, Sidoarjo Regency. Pregnancy with anemia in the third trimester has a high risk of experiencing Postpartum Hemorrhagic, so it is necessary to increase awareness of anemia by optimizing integrated antenatal care services.
