Abstract

This study aims to test the relationship between doomscrolling and emotion regulation and anxiety in adolescent social media users in MAN 2 Mojokerto. The phenomenon of doomscrolling, which is the habit of accessing negative information excessively, has become a concern in the context of adolescent mental health. Emotion regulation, as an individual's ability to manage emotional responses, is thought to have an important role in suppressing the negative impact of doomscrolling on anxiety. This study used a correlational quantitative approach, involving 237 3rd-grade students as participants. The instruments used included the doomscrolling scale, the emotion regulation scale (DERS), and the anxiety scale (RCMAS-2), all in Likert-scale format. The results of the data analysis showed a significant association between doomscrolling and emotion regulation and adolescent anxiety (R = 0.807; p < 0.01), with an explained variance of 65%. Partially, doomscrolling showed a significant positive association with anxiety (t = 4.115; p < 0.05), whereas emotion regulation showed a significant negative association (t = -14.433; p < 0.05). This suggests that the higher the intensity of doomscrolling, the higher the teen's anxiety levels; Conversely, the better the regulation of emotions, the lower the level of anxiety felt. These findings provide important implications for psychological interventions in helping adolescents manage healthy social media use and improve their ability to regulate emotions to reduce anxiety risk.

Abstract

Future anxiety refers to a form of anxiety related to individuals’ concerns about an uncertain future. This phenomenon is increasingly observed among young adults, particularly university students and individuals undergoing the transition from education to the workforce. This article aims to systematically review studies that examine the concept of future anxiety, the factors influencing it, and its impact on psychological well-being. The method employed was a literature review of empirical articles published within the last ten years. The findings indicate that future anxiety is influenced by internal factors such as self-efficacy and optimism, as well as external factors including career uncertainty and social pressure. High levels of future anxiety can negatively affect individuals’ mental health, leading to increased stress and decreased psychological well-being. Therefore, special attention is needed in the development of preventive efforts and psychological interventions for groups vulnerable to experiencing future anxiety.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of self-efficacy and self-confidence on students' learning anxiety, with extrinsic motivation acting as a mediating variable among elementary school students. A quantitative approach with an explanatory survey design was used in this study. This study involved 360 elementary school students who were selected through probability sampling techniques. Data were collected using a Likert scale questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings show that self-efficacy and self-confidence significantly affect learning anxiety. In addition, extrinsic motivation also has a significant influence on learning anxiety. However, the role of extrinsic motivational mediation in the relationship between Self-Efficacy and learning anxiety, as well as between self-confidence and learning anxiety, is not supported by data. The results showed that internal psychological factors played a more prominent role in influencing students' learning anxiety compared to external motivational factors. Therefore, strengthening students' Self-Efficacy and confidence is essential to reduce learning anxiety and encourage a more effective learning experience.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of perceived organizational support on the performance of Indonesian National Police Civil Servants (PNS) at the West Sumatra Regional Police, with career development and work motivation as mediating variables. This study used a quantitative approach with a survey method. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares (PLS). The results showed that not all relationships between variables were positive. Several variables demonstrated a significant negative effect on employee performance. This finding indicates that increased perceived organizational support and career development do not always lead to improved performance, especially when their implementation does not align with employee expectations. Furthermore, work motivation was shown to act as a mediating variable explaining the relationship between organizational variables and performance. This study implies that organizations need to consider aspects of fairness, transparency, and policy appropriateness in human resource management to optimally improve performance.

Abstract

This study examines the aesthetics of conflict in the creation of the film Salisiah Adaik, which portrays a dispute between two Minangkabau marriage customs: the Bajapuik tradition of the Pariaman community and the Maisi Sasuduik tradition of the Payakumbuh community. The research aims to explore how conflict is constructed not only as a dramatic element but also as a form of Minangkabau cultural aesthetics. The study employs a qualitative approach using narrative and film aesthetic analysis. The analysis focuses on character development, the use of local dialects, the structure of customary conflict, and cinematic elements such as art direction, lighting, and traditional music. The findings reveal that the aesthetics of conflict in the film are constructed through linguistic differences, customary disputes, and visual and auditory approaches that strengthen the dramatic quality of the narrative. The conflict in the film also reflects the Minangkabau philosophy, “basilang kayu dalam tungku, mako api ka hiduik” (crossed firewood in the stove keeps the fire alive), which views disagreement as a process leading to consensus. Therefore, conflict in Salisiah Adaik functions not only as a driving force of the narrative but also as a representation of Minangkabau cultural aesthetics.

Abstract

University graduate job seekers in Indonesia face intense labor market competition, which may give rise to fear of failure. This study aimed to examine the relationship between self-efficacy and social support with fear of failure among job seekers. A quantitative correlational design was employed, involving 314 job seekers under the age of 29 who held a university degree, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using three Likert-type scales: a fear of failure scale adapted from the Performance Failure Appraisal Inventory (Conroy et al., 2002), a self-efficacy scale based on the dimensions of level, strength, and generality (Bandura, 1997), and a social support scale based on the dimensions proposed by Cutrona and Russell (1987). Data were analyzed using multiple regression with SPSS version 27. The results showed that self-efficacy and social support were simultaneously and significantly negatively related to fear of failure (R = .572, R² = .327, p < .001), accounting for 32.7% of the variance. Partially, self-efficacy (t = -6.421, p < .001) contributed more strongly than social support (t = -3.473, p < .001) in predicting fear of failure. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening self-efficacy and social support networks as psychological intervention strategies for job seekers navigating a competitive labor market.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) training in strengthening teamwork among vocational high school internship students at an animation company. The study employed a quantitative pre-experimental method using a one-group pretest–posttest design. The participants consisted of 13 internship students selected through total sampling. Data were collected using a teamwork questionnaire administered before and after the training intervention. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and a paired-samples t-test to determine differences between pretest and posttest scores. The findings revealed a statistically significant improvement in teamwork following the training intervention (Mdiff = −2.923, t(12) = −2.576, p = .024). Organizational Citizenship Behavior also increased significantly after the intervention (Mdiff = −9.692, t(12) = −2.646, p = .021). These results indicate that OCB training effectively enhanced participants' collaborative skills and voluntary organizational behaviors. The study concludes that OCB training can serve as an effective human resource development strategy for internship programs, particularly in project-based creative industries where teamwork and collaboration are essential for achieving organizational goals.

Abstract

Social comparison on social media has become an increasingly prominent psychological process during emerging adulthood, driven by growing exposure to idealized portrayals of other people's lives. This study conducted a systematic review of empirical findings on the factors associated with social comparison on social media and its impact on psychological well-being during emerging adulthood. The literature search followed PRISMA guidelines across reputable academic databases, covering publications from 2022 to 2025. Of 165 articles initially identified, 18 empirical studies met the inclusion criteria. The synthesis shows that upward social comparison is the most common form of comparison and is consistently linked to lower psychological well-being, particularly through passive social media use and exposure to idealized content. Frequently identified mediating mechanisms include reduced self-esteem, impaired emotion regulation, and fear of missing out. In contrast, downward social comparison appears far less often and shows only limited protective effects. These findings highlight upward comparison as the dominant psychological risk for well-being in emerging adulthood and point to the need for interventions that strengthen social comparison awareness and emotion regulation.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of a positive psychology-based digital psychoeducation intervention in improving self-esteem among Generation Z individuals who experience upward social comparison on social media. A quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was employed, involving 13 participants selected through purposive sampling. The intervention was delivered digitally over four days and included gratitude journaling and character strengths components. Self-esteem was measured using the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale before and after the intervention. Results showed that the mean self-esteem score increased from 26.69 at pretest to 28.31 at posttest, with a medium effect size (Cohen's d = 0.50). However, the paired sample t-test indicated that this increase was not statistically significant (t = -1.819, df = 12, p = 0.094). These findings suggest a promising, though inconclusive, direction of change, indicating that brief digital positive psychology interventions may hold potential benefits for improving self-esteem that warrant further testing with larger samples and a control group
