Abstract

The purpose of education is to develop mutual respect, peace, and harmony. Education should be able to rebuild harmony and peace among its community members especially in conflict areas. This study examines the implementation of peace culture education through religious education in post-conflict area of Bengkayang district. It uses qualitative approach through interview, observation and document studies. The results show that the content of peace culture education has been delivered through religious education, namely Catholic and Christian religious education in accordance with its foundation background. The things that support the implementation of peace culture education are the curriculum content, school policy, and teacher competence. While the obstacles are a long history of conflict that is not easy to forget, the awareness of teacher on peace culture education and of people not to retell conflict and ethnic disgraces stories from generation to generation.

Abstract

Teacher’s competencies are a key to the transformation of understanding and religious experience for students. They are pedagogical, personal, social, professional, and leadership competency. The study aims at knowing the reality of religious teacher’s competency in boarding schools and supporting and obstacle factors in improving their competency. It used a qualitative approach and data were collected through interviews, observation, and document review. The object of study was the boarding school educational unit, namely State Senior High School (MAN) 5 favorite in Parepare. The results of the study illustrated that Islamic education (PAI) teachers have competencies and skills as determined by the government such as the ability to motivate and protect students with different characters, having administrative skills in managing instructional learning materials, capability to read class situations when applying or using learning methods, to interpret learning programs to students and to deliver learning effectively and efficiently. The programs of religious teachers’ competency improvement include through the support of Subject Teacher Forum (MGMP) and in house training activities.

Abstract

The idea of eliminating war content in Islamic history is one response to the symptoms of religious attitudes, which tend to be exclusive. Religious attitudes correlate with a person's level of historical mastery, because history has a strategic function; in addition to providing information on the past, it can also construct emotions, allowing students to take sides to support or reject one of the parts. This study aims to see how the content of Islamic history education contains an ideological cleavage between modernist-traditionalists, which correlates with students' religious attitudes. Research using a descriptive qualitative approach through construction analysis methods and content analysis, namely, analysis models used to reveal, understand, and capture a text or discourse's message. The object being studied is the SKI material for class XII Madrasah Aliyah, as stipulated in the Decree of the Director-General of Islamic Education No. 2676 of 2013. This study's findings indicate that the class XII SKI material displays opposing ideological features between Modernist and Traditional Islam within Muslims' sociological structure in Indonesia. Students' religious attitudes have the potential to be dichotomous and affiliated in one part. Even though the object of the objective seems to content objective students' mastery of comprehensive, critical knowledge and has an objective comparative analysis. The effect of exclusivity can still occur if there is a shift in the substance of education from scientific objectivity to the hegemony of power.

Abstract

Evaluation on curriculum has been conducted periodically and continuously in order to understand the implementation of curriculum based on the basis, function, and the goal of national education, and its suitability with the community development. This research is a part of evaluation process on the education which is suitable with curriculum 2013. This study focuses on the subject of Islamic teaching in State Senior High School 3 Surakarta. This is an evaluative research using an evaluation model called CIPP (Context, Input, Process, and Product) and a descriptive qualitative approach. Result of this study shows: (1) context evaluation shows that PAI teaching has applied scientific approach seen in RPP and practice of education process, (2) Input aspect is good as seen in the availability of standard documents either in school, PAI teacher, the availability of infrastructures, and the policy of head master. (3) Process evaluation is in accord with the standard process of curriculum 2013 in RPP elements. (4) Product aspect is seen in the implementation of authentic appraisal including behavior, attitude, knowledge and skills assessment.

Abstract

The education and da’wah movement carried out by the Majelis Tafsir Alquran (MTA) Surakarta particularly and in Indonesia generally is very dynamic. Since its establishment in 1972 by Abdullah Thufail, now the number of MTA branches in Indonesia has reached more than 427 branches. The MTA education and missionary movement carries the idea of purification with the aim of eradicating superstition, heresy and philosophy. This article aims to reveal the concept of heresy and nationalism in the view of MTA. The study was conducted with a qualitative approach through text studies and interviews with MTA figures. The findings of this study indicate that MTA’s view of the concept of bidah (heresy) is textualist, where teachings that are not based on the Qur’an and hadith are heretics and each case that is propagated in religious affairs is heresy. This understanding has the potential to be intolerant towards local cultures such as salvation traditions and talents that are popular in the community. Nevertheless, MTA has a positive view of national concepts. MTA accepts the obligation to respect state symbols such as flags, Bhineka Tunggal Ika, and reject terrorist violence

Abstract

The development of information technology has influenced patterns of social interaction. This should be responded by the da'wah institutions in carrying out their proselytizing (da'wah) activities. The practice of da'wah has so far been running but it is often less optimal in applying communication patterns due to unclear control groups and the difficulties in evaluating movements. As a religious organization, Wahdah Islamiyah organization in Sinjai, South Sulawesi is very active in doing proselytizing activities to the people. This study aimed at uncovering the communication patterns adopted by Wahdah Islamiyah in delivering its da'wah messages in Sinjai and how it is developed and accepted by people living in remote villages. This is a qualitative research, using the methods of da’wah communication and sociological approaches. Data were collected by conducting observation, interview, and documentation and analyzed through the process of of data reduction, data display and drawing conclusions. The results of the study found that the communication patterns applied by Wahdah Islamiyah in Sinjai consists of control groups communication in which the organization controls the Muslim preachers (da’i) and da’wah materials; tarbiyah communication by using a tiered curriculum system in learning; cadre pattern through guidance to cadres; and network communication, namely recruiting new members

Abstract

Radikalisme   agama   menjadi   terminologi   yang   senantiasa   menarik   diperbincangkan. Berbagai upaya dilakukan oleh sejumlah pihak, untuk menangkal paham radikal. Radikalisme agama tidak bisa dihilangkan, tetapi dapat diminimalisir. Salah satu upaya deradikalisasi agama adalah melakukan proses pemahamanan dan pembentukan pola pikir, yakni dengan menanamkan   niilai  multikulturalisme   dan  inklusivisme   melalui  pendidikan   pesantren. Salah satu pesantren yang mendidik santri-santri  secara inklusif dan menanamkan  nilai- nilai multikulturalisme adalah pesantren Al-Hikmah Benda Sirampog Brebes Jawa Tengah. Pesantren ini mendidik santri untuk tafaqquh fiddin melalui pengajaran kitab kuning dan pendidikan formal. Pesantren Al-Hikmah merupakan salah pesantren yang mempunyai pengaruh kuat di masyarakat. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif lapangan dengan menggunakan pendekatan fungsionalisme struktural Parsons dengan kerangka fungsi adaptation (adaptasi), integration (integrasi), goal attainment (pencapaian tujuan), dan litency (pemeliharaan pola). Adapun metode analisisnya menggunakan metode deskriptif-analitis. Hasil penelitian ini adalah bahwa pendidikan multikultural dan inklusivisme di pondok pesantren al-Hikmah Benda dilakukan melalui pengajaran dan pendidikan yang tidak berdiri sendiri pada satuan pelajaran tertentu. Implementasinya adalah dengan menggunakan metode pembiasaan, ceramah, diskusi, demonstrasi, kisah, dan keteladanan. Sejumlah nilai yang diajarkan adalah   berbaik sangka, kebersamaan,  kesederajatan,  saling menghargai, menjauhkan sikap prejudice terhadap pihak lain, kompetisi dalam kebaikan,  kejujuran, dan memberi maaf kepada orang lain.Kata kunci: radikalisme, multikulturalisme, inklusivisme, pondok pesantren, metode pembelajaran, budaya damai.

Abstract

State Islamic University of Sunan Ampel Surabaya (UINSA) implements integrated twin-towers learning model that combines Islamic scholarship with science, technology, social, and humanities. Through this learning model, the students of UINSA get courses on strengthening Islamic values regardless of their study program. Students are required to be independent in learning, including getting religious learning resources that can be accessed via the internet. However, religious information circulating on the internet is not always true and valid, so it affects on student behavior in accessing religious literacy in the digital world. This article aims to describe the level of religious digital literacy behavior on the students of UINSA and is observed based on demographic elements (gender, faculty and education background). The research method was carried out with quantitative approach where data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires referring to the UNESCO Media and Information Literacy Assessment Framework via online. The results of this research indicate that the level of student religious digital literacy behavior is on a advance level. However, in demographic element, it shows various digital literacy levels, there are those who get advanced and intermediate levels. The results of this study are expected to be a reference for university to develop digital religious literacy competencies among their students in the future.

Abstract

This research measures the index of religious moderation in the city of Semarang and analyzes the dimensions of religious moderation that include 4 indicators of religious moderation, namely 1) national commitment, 2) tolerance, 3) anti-violence and 4) accommodative to local culture. Semarang is a city that has a plurality of religions as well as ethnic groups. This can actually be the main capital in regional development. The research method used in this study was an approach with quantitative descriptive statistics. The population of this study was Semarang people, with the number of 1,681,058 in 16 districts. The sampling technique was carried out by stratified random sampling where the representatives from each of the districts were taken. 611 people were selected as the research sample. The research focus was on the four indicators of religious moderation. Retrieval of data used a questionnaire. Data was processed descriptively. After conducting a field survey by FKUB Semarang City in 2021, the results obtained were that the religious moderation harmony index was 77.5 (very high). Furthermore, the index of the four indicators are national commitment, tolerance, anti-violence, adaptive to local culture respectively 70.23; 82.90; 77.93; 83,43. All the indexes have very good criteria, but the national commitment index is still high.

Abstract

The Islamic activism movement in the Surakarta and surrounding areas is metamorphosis by forming (new community) in the local political level in the form of recitation or small halaqoh in the mosque as a form of cadre processing. From these small halaqoh then they established educational institutions, non profit charity institutions, and media procurement,that is intended for the ideologization business by forming a small community known as the laskar or front which drives of Islamic activism group in Surakarta and its surrounding. From that statement, the research about their on models and networks of halaqoh is important tobe studied.This research was descriptive qualitative research, the data collection is done through three ways: direct observation in a mosque halaqoh based on a radical understanding in Surakarta, in-depth interviews on their halaqoh network, and documentation. The data analysis technique was an interactive analysis model, including three stages: data reduction, data display; and drawing conclusions. The obtained conclusion will be verified by its truth and validity by two ways, they are triangulation of data; and review of informants.Halaqoh reviewed from social movements requires a group of people to reject or accept the value in a organized way. With this model, the mosque becomes the basis for their regeneration it also has a signifcant role, to accelerate the spread of Islamic-ideology in the society. The overwhelming halaqoh held in some mosques in Surakarta, such as Jami 'MUI, Marwah Nurul Huda UNS and Sampangan, principally utilize the open political structure of post-reforms in 1998. According to Resources Mobilization of Theory-the overflow of resources in every mosque, network, economic access, and so on can carry out the encouraging the society or the congregation to have power, capability, potential to make alteration. In the framing of the discourse, halaqoh of Islamic activism such as Jami 'MUI and Nurul Huda mosque massively produce the discourse through various media so that the discourse is reportedly gotten by the lower society. The Framing could be in the form of halaqoh, recitation, Friday sermon, newsletter, or through the social media such as facebook and live streaming TV, they already have this all.
