Abstract

Women's leadership is still a controversial issue in religious' perspective, even though most women have received equal education and employment to men. The controversy emerges from different opinions about the interpretation of An-Nisa verse  34. This study discusses how women who are active in religious organizations define women's leadership based on the verse. There are two organizations as research subjects, namely Muslimat and Aisyiah in Tulungagung Regency. With the Living Quran approach, this research shows that women’s insight on women's leadership have diverse spectrum influenced by their religious understanding of the Quran as well as organizational policies and daily experiences. Muslimat provides greater tolerance for it, especially in the political and social fields. As for Aisyiah, despite accepting women's leadership as a today’s necessity, they still limit theirself to political leadership, especially as governmental head. However, both Muslimat and Aisyiah agreed that the An-Nisa verse 34 is a verse that explain the relationship between men and women in the household, so it could not be generalized to prohibit women's leadership in the public sphere.

Abstract

Religion and culture are often confronted diametrically, including Islam and Javanese culture. However, the intellectual, cultural treasures of Javanese cultural heritage in Serat Wedhatama show that this serat has a dimension of Islamic religiosity. The content of the Serat Wedhatama is essential for strengthening the practice of Islamic religiosity in society amid the moral degradation of the nation's generation. This research has a necessary contribution to inculcating religious and cultural values in the nation's generation. The research used a qualitative approach to reveal the dimensions of Islamic religiosity in Serat Wedhatama Pupuh Gambuh by KGPAA Mangkunegara IV. The study of the manuscript's contents shows that Serat Wedhatama Pupuh Gambuh contains five dimensions of Islamic religiosity: the dimension of belief, dimensions of religious practice, the dimension of treachery, and religious knowledge; and practice dimensions. This study also confirms a relationship between (Serat Jawa) as a product of culture and religious values. The values in Pupuh Gambuh Wedhatama Fiber can be used as parameters and guidelines for life. This study can also be used to answer the conditions of the people who are amid deculturation and de-religiosity.

The harmonious values in that village have been transmitted from generation to next one by preserved folklore. Findings of this research show that those stories contain valuable harmonious messages. The story of Roro AntengJoko Seger implies that a person should give the other’s good deed back to them. Furthermore, this story, then, created Kasada Ceremony and “gentenan” tradition among Tengger community. Meanwhile, the story of Setya-Setuhu is the origin of Karo tradition, a ritual to commemorate the death of two figures named Setya-Setuhu. Abstract

Inter-ethnic conflicts often occur in West Kalimantan, especially in Pontianak City, especially between Dayak, Chinese, and Malay ethnicities. Therefore, to build harmony in life between ethnicities, public spaces are needed that are accessed by various groups. Coffee shops are one of the potential public spaces to build harmony between ethnic groups. This article aims to determine the existence of coffee shops as public spaces in Kota Pontianak and the role of coffee shops as a space to build harmony in Pontianak City. This article publishes the results of research that uses qualitative approaches with phenomenological methods, data collection using interviews, observation, observation techniques, and documentation. Data analysis uses an interactive analysis model. The research found that coffee rafting in Pontianak City becomes a public space that contains democratic, responsive, and meaningful values so that people from various ethnic and cultural backgrounds visit coffee shops to rest, discuss business affairs, do tasks, have meetings, and so on. People who visit coffee shops come from various ethnicities (Malay, Dayak, Chinese, Bugis, Javanese, and Madurese). Through the coffee shop, they meet to talk about various things, so that familiarity is well- built  and  strengthens  social  integration.  Besides  being  able  to  build  a  harmonious  inter-ethnic  life, the existence of coffee shops can also increase the regional original income (PAD) of Pontianak City and absorb labor.

Abstract

This research analyzes the phenomenon of changes in the isnad system in learning on the Qur’an on the Qara'a mobile application. This mobile application provides Al-Qur'an learning services that are supported by machine learning and artificial intelligence to correct the user's reciting of the Qur'an so that they have a "teacher" studying the Qur'an anywhere and anytime. The question then is, why has there been a change in the isnad system in transmitting scientific reciting of the Qur'an to the Qara'a mobile application, and what are the implications caused by this? In explaining the things that have been mentioned, this research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive-critical analysis model; this method necessitates a pattern of depiction that does not merely present data objectively but also explains the implications of findings from related data. This research shows that changes in the isnad system in transmitting scientific reciting of the Qur'an are inevitably caused by mediamorphosis with the development of information and communication technology. In this context, this change occurs because of four main things, namely industry needs, demands for other technological needs, supporting legal actions and regulations, and societal pressure. The implications of this change occur in the process of mediamorphosis of the transmission media of reciting Al-Qur'an scholarship or even all of the transmission media of Islamic scholarship and the emergence of machine learning and artificial intelligence as new religious authorities.

Abstract

The harmony movement in Indonesia has been carried out by the nation's predecessors. The remains of ancient manuscripts in Maros, South Sulawesi, are historical evidence that religious moderation has been practiced. This article aims to examine the practice of religious moderation in the Lontaraq Manuscript of Kassi, Labuang, Pacelle. Through the philological method, this study found the following findings. First, these manuscripts express historical events in the past which have very strong nuances of religious moderation in them. Slavery and extortion were commonplace at that time, but there were breakthroughs or efforts made by Karaeng to abolish slavery and extortion at that time. The breakthrough is through humanity, justice, equality of social strata, and love between the people and the authorities. Equality without caste strata is in line with the justice proclaimed in Religious Moderation. Second, differences in ethnicity, language, and religion become social forces with a culture of mutual respect.

Abstract

The phenomenon of radicalism in Indonesia goes on because of conflict and social friction among religious people. One of the reasons for this potential conflict is the development of information technology which makes it easier for internet users to disseminate the news they receive. On the contrary social media can also promote religious moderation ideas. Religious moderation protects religious people from going to extremes in insulting religious teachings which results in disunity. This article aims to find out the idea of the Mubadalah.id account in strengthening religious moderation, at the same time realizing moderate Islam in Indonesia. By using virtual ethnographic methods and content analysis techniques, this paper concludes that the Mubadalah.id account has carried the significant ideas as an effort to realize moderate Islam in Indonesia based on the four indicators of religious moderation of the Indonesian Ministry of Religion, namely: (1) promoting peaceful and tolerant religious principles; (2) upholding human values through gender equality; (3) voice for State Defense; (4) defending human rights, especially for women and children who are oppressed; and (5) strive for environmental preservation.
