UNIVERSE : Journal of Science Education Teaching and Learning
UNIVERSE is a peer reviewed and scientific journal published by Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) in collaboration that publishes twice a year. This journal aim is to publish articles include opinions, insights, analysis and research report from various kind of research, such as experimental, descriptive, research and development (R&D), and action research on Education. UNIVERSE is a journal that publishes only an original articles on the newest issues occuring internationally in science education, science teaching and learning, science curriculum, and science teachers preparation with special purpose to improve our knowledge of science education, teaching, learning and practice. This journal also has a number of specific objectives in several fields: 1. Teaching In teaching activities, it is not only focused on the lecturer, but also on the teacher in the class. The application and development of learning models, the application and development of instructional media, the development and application of textbooks, the development and application of new treatments to students and all teaching activities with the aim of increasing motivation, ability, skills and mindset both by the teacher, and the students. 2. Learning Research in the form of a process, description, treatment or development in the field of learning. Learning activities both nationally and internationally, from a variety of perspectives and mindsets. 3. Practice In practice we invite papers that related to any activities indoors, outdoors. Theoretically, empirically and practically. Experimental and quasi-experimental practice research. Research at school, in the field, to teachers, to students, or to the community. The latest issue, news, and fact. 4. Science Curriculum In the field of curriculum, we invite articles that focus on the application or development of national and international curricula. Methods for applying curriculum or assessments, tools, and media used as support in the implementation or development of the curriculum.

This study aims to produce an interactive e-module type integrated based on community technology science (STM) on material structure and function of plants that are valid and practical. This type of research is development research using 4-D models, define, design, and develop. The research subjects were students of SMPN 06 Pariaman class VIII.1 in the January-June 2021 semester. The research object of interactive science e-module integrated type STM based on plant structure and function material. The results showed that the e-module developed met the very valid criteria in the didactic aspect of 90.28%, constructs 91.67%, and technicality 96.88%. The results of the practicality assessment by teachers and students obtained an average value of very practical, ease of use 93.17, efficiency of use 89.37%, attractiveness 95.83%, easy to interpret 93.44% and has an equivalent of 92.63% . It was concluded that the integrated type of STM-based interactive science e-module on plant structure and function material that has been developed is declared valid and practical, to be used in science learning.

The curriculum in Indonesia requires students to think critically. Video demonstrations on science can improve the quality of education because students learn to think critically. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential of developing a science practical work demonstration video which is oriented to critical thinking on the human excretory system. The method used in this research is the Plomp development method, which consists of three stages, namely preliminary research, prototyping stage, and assessment stage. In this article only discusses the initial investigation, namely preliminary research by provide student analysis questionnaires to 26 studenst at SMP N 1 sub-district of Guguak. The result of this initial investigation is the video demonstrations have the potential to improve students critical thinking skills.

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of service learning model assisted by flash card media to increase student’s environmental awareness at SMPN 1 Sambit Ponorogo. The samples in this study were class VII A (experimental) and class VII C (control) with a total of 40 students. Data were collected by distributing test questions before and after the implementation of learning model. The learning model applied to the control class was lecturing model, while the experimental class was service learning model assisted by flash card media. The data that has been obtained were analyzed by t-test using Minitab software. The results showed that the service learning model assisted by flash card media was effective to increase students' environmental awareness. This is due to service learning model is able to direct students to apply their knowledge in solving environmental problems around them. Besides that, the use of flash card media can increase students' enthusiasm for learning due to it was packaged in educational games.

Science learning in the 2013 curriculum seeks to solve real-life problems and understand the impact of science learning on technological developments, life and its impact in the future so that learning becomes more meaningful. However, students require to be trained to get the ability to solve problems scientifically through scientific and social issues. The observations result in the field reveal that there are limited materials of teaching that can train students' problem-solving skills. To overcome these problems, materials are needed, namely a module of science based on Socio Scientific Issues by applied the model of Problem Based Learning. The research purpose is to generate a Socio Scientific Issue-based science module with a Problem Based Learning model of valid and practical global warming material. The research type by used is research and development or Research and Development (R&D). The model of development used is a 4-D model (four-D models) with three modification stages consisting of define, design, and develop. This module is validated by 3 validators. The research instrument used was a validity and practicality questionnaire. The validity result of test obtained a validity value of 85.17% with a category is very valid. The practicality result of test by the teacher obtained a score of 87.65% in the category is very practical and the practicality result of test by the students obtained 89.95% in the category is very practical. Based on these results, it is concluded that the Socio Scientific Issue-based science module with a Problem Based Learning model of global warming material for seventh grade junior high school students is valid and practical.

Fun learning can create new colors in the learning process. So that the learning objectives will be achieved. Especially in the subjects of Natural Sciences (IPA), the concept of learning in principle is close to real life. However, students still have difficulty understanding the concepts. Because they think that learning science is identical to mathematics because there are formulas that use numbers. The team quiz learning model can have an impact on the science learning process, this can be seen from student learning outcomes which have increased by about 10% from cycle one to cycle two, and students' ability to build communication can be seen from the teamwork formed in compiling quiz questions. will be submitted to another pair.

In the 2013 curriculum, the learning process is emphasized on the application of a scientific approach, and teachers are also required to be able to provide innovation in teaching materials. The results of observations in several junior high schools in Tanjung Mutiara sub-district, the teaching materials used are still limited to textbooks, in the learning process teachers still use the lecture or discussion method, and the application of the scientific approach has not been applied as a whole. Based on these problems, a research has been carried out that aims to determine the level of validity and practicality of the Integrated Science-Based E-LKPD Scientific Approach on the Energy Theme for Science Learning in SMP/MTs. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D) using a 4-D model consisting of four stages, namely: define, design, develop, and disseminate. Given the limited time this research is limited to the develop stage. The data collection instrument used was a validity and practicality questionnaire. The subjects of this study were three lecturers in the science education department as expert validators, two science teachers as practicalists and thirty seventh grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Tanjung Mutiara as practicalists. The data of this study are primary data obtained from the results of validity and practicality questionnaires. Data were analyzed using Cohen's kappa formula. The results of the validity of the E-LKPD obtained a value of 0.89 with a very high validity category. The practicality test value of the E-LKPD obtained from the teacher's response is 0.95 with a very high practicality category, while the practicality test value of the E-LKPD obtained from the student's response is 0.92 with a very high practicality category. So it can be concluded that the Integrated IPA E-LKPD Based on a Scientific Approach on the Energy Theme is valid and practical to use.

Rendahnya minat belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran Al-quran hadits, akan berdampak terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Terutama pada materi qalqolah. Oleh karena itu perlu diadakan perubahan dalam mengunakan model – model pembelajaran, sehingga membangkitkan minat belajar siswa. Pembelajaran dengan Model Make a Match dan Multi media di iplementasikan sebagai alternatif pemecahan masalah. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus dan subjek penelitian kelas VIII,1 yang jumlah siswanya 22 orang . Penelitian ini mengunakan penelitian tindakan kelas, yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus, dengan materi pokok tentang hukum bacaan qalqalah. Setiap siklus meliputi 4 tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi dan refleksi serta wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, penerapan pembelajaran menggunakan Model Make a Match dan Multimedia, dapat meningkatkan minat dan hasil belajar siswa kelas VIII.1 ini, dapat dilihat dari hasil penelitian yang dilakukan. Baik sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan Model Make a Match dan Multi media. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah, untuk meningkatkan minat dan hasil belajar siswa siswa kelas VIII.1, menggunakan Model Make a Match dan Multimedia.
