UNIVERSE : Journal of Science Education Teaching and Learning
UNIVERSE is a peer reviewed and scientific journal published by Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) in collaboration that publishes twice a year. This journal aim is to publish articles include opinions, insights, analysis and research report from various kind of research, such as experimental, descriptive, research and development (R&D), and action research on Education. UNIVERSE is a journal that publishes only an original articles on the newest issues occuring internationally in science education, science teaching and learning, science curriculum, and science teachers preparation with special purpose to improve our knowledge of science education, teaching, learning and practice. This journal also has a number of specific objectives in several fields: 1. Teaching In teaching activities, it is not only focused on the lecturer, but also on the teacher in the class. The application and development of learning models, the application and development of instructional media, the development and application of textbooks, the development and application of new treatments to students and all teaching activities with the aim of increasing motivation, ability, skills and mindset both by the teacher, and the students. 2. Learning Research in the form of a process, description, treatment or development in the field of learning. Learning activities both nationally and internationally, from a variety of perspectives and mindsets. 3. Practice In practice we invite papers that related to any activities indoors, outdoors. Theoretically, empirically and practically. Experimental and quasi-experimental practice research. Research at school, in the field, to teachers, to students, or to the community. The latest issue, news, and fact. 4. Science Curriculum In the field of curriculum, we invite articles that focus on the application or development of national and international curricula. Methods for applying curriculum or assessments, tools, and media used as support in the implementation or development of the curriculum.

Learning media in digital form is an innovation in the world of education. To support education in era of industrial revolution 4.0, teachers as educators of the nation's next generation must be able to prepare and provide non-paper-based learning media. Non paper-based learning media can be used both distance learning and face-to-face learning. One of the non paper-based learning media is interactive multimedia. This research aims to produce interactive multimedia with STEAM integrated using ispring suite 9 on substance pressure topic that is valid and practical for grade VIII students. This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method which two stages of the Ploomp model, namely the preliminary research, and development stage or the prototyping stage with Tessmer's formative evaluation is self evaluation, expert review, one-to-one evaluation and small group evaluation. The results of the study obtained validity value is very valid category with a percentage of 90,385%. The practicality score obtained by the teacher with a percentage of 98,78% and by the students with a percentage of 93,16% is the very practical category.

E-LKPD biotechnology topic intregrated with local wisdom based on scientific approach has been developed and analyzed the validity and practicality to assist the learning process. This research classified to research and development (R&D) using the ADDIE model. This research is limited to the development stage only. Research instrument used consisted of validity and practicality questionnaires. The subjects of this study were three lecturers of the Science Education department as validators, three science teachers as practicalists and six students of class IX of SMP Negeri 39 Padang as practicalists. The data in this study are primary data obtained from the results of validation and practicality questionnaires. Data were analyzed using Cohen's kappa formula. The results of the validity test of the E-LKPD obtained a value of 0.86 with a very high validity category in terms of aspects of the feasibility of content, language, presentation and graphics. The results of the E-LKPD practicality test were obtained from the teacher's response of 0.95 with a very high practicality category while the E-LKPD practicality test value obtained from the student responses was 0.82 with a very high practicality category in terms of ease of use, efficiency of learning time , and benefits

The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of the NHT (Numbered Head Together) type cooperative learning model on student learning outcomes on the human respiratory system material at SMPN 2 Solok City. This research was conducted at SMPN 2 Solok City in the 2021/2022 academic year. The type of research used is Quasi Experiment. The research design that will be used is the Non-equivalent control group design. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The sample used is class VIII-7 as a control class using a conventional model while class VIII-8 as an experimental class using a cooperative learning model of the NHT type. The instrument used in this study was written in the form of multiple choice questions. While the test analysis was carried out using Microsoft Excel, the calculation of the hypothesis test was carried out with the t test after conducting the prerequisite test, namely the normality test and homogeneity test. The results of the t-test calculation are tcount = 3.96 and ttable = 1.67, where tcount> ttable, thus research H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. This shows that there is an influence on the cooperative learning model type NHT (Numbered Head Together) on the cognitive learning outcomes of class VIII students on the human respiratory system material at SMP N 2 Solok City.

One of the subjects that plays an important role in the development of the times is science. Science subjects aim to equip students with knowledge related to everyday life and train them to think scientifically. Therefore the call for learning objectives in science is something that needs to be prioritized by the teacher. One of the steps that can be taken by the teacher is to apply a learning model that is in accordance with the characteristics of the material in science subjects. One model that can be applied by teachers is the STD type of cooperative learning model. The purpose of this study was to see the effect of the STAD type cooperative learning model on students' cognitive learning outcomes on temperature, heat and expansion of SMPN 28 Padang.This research is a type of quasi-experimental research with nonequivalent control group research design. The sample in this study used a purposive sampling technique. Statistical analysis in this study used SPSS version 25. Based on the hypothesis test, a significance value of 0.735 was obtained, which means that there was no effect of the STAD type cooperative learning model on students' cognitive learning outcomes on temperature, heat, and expansion for class VII SMPN 28 Padang. There are several inhibiting factors on students' cognitive learning outcomes including student character, student interest in learning, various student backgrounds, students' basic mathematical abilities and model adjustments that have just been implemented at SMPN 28 Padang.

Students’ learning activities that are hard to recognite by students give an impact on enthusiastic about learning. It is necessary to adjust a variety of learning, to increase the cognitive skill of students such as the Project Based Learning model. This study aims to determine the effect of the Project Based Learning model on the cognitive skill of 8th grade students on human circulatory system topic. The research method used Quasi Experiment with Non-equivalent Post Test Only Control Group Design. Samples were taken using a purposive sampling technique, so 64 students were selected. Data collection was carried out by giving post test questions. The data obtained were analyzed using the Normality Test, Homogeneity Test, and t Test. The results of the analysis showes that the average cognitive skill of the experimental class is 79.68 and the average cognitive sklill of the control class is 53.84. Based on the t test obtained Tcount is 5.96 and Ttable is 1.6698 with a significant level of 0.025. The results shows Tcount > Ttable so that H0 is reject and Ha is accept. It can be concluded that there is an effect of the Project Based Learning model on the cognitive skill in 8th grade on the human circulatory system topic.

Learning Arabic using the question and answer method can increase student activity in Arabic learning activities in 7th grade MTsN 7 Solok. Based on this research, the learning activities of students in the second cycle have reached an average of 62% asking questions, 68% answering questions, and 63% giving responses. Judging from the fact that the average learning activity of students from cycle 1 to cycle 2 has increased. In asking questions there was an increase of 30%, answering questions increased by 30% and giving responses increased by 35%. Thus it can be concluded that learning using the question and answer method can increase the learning activities of students in learning Arabic in 7th grade MTsN 7 Solok.

This research is motivated by the lack of available learning media for integrated thematic learning in Theme 6: Heat and Its Transfer, based on ICT (Information and Communication Technology) in schools. One of the ICT-based media is Articulate Storyline 3, designed to be as attractive as possible by incorporating audio, images, videos, games, and quizzes, aiming to motivate and actively engage students in learning. This research is a development research (R&D) using the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The results of this research obtained an average validation score of 94.9% with a valid category. The teacher's questionnaire response obtained a score of 93.75% with a highly practical category, while the student's questionnaire response at SDN 07 Pasar Salido obtained a score of 97.92% with a highly practical category. The student's questionnaire response on the media deployment at SDN 22 Kampung Luar Salido obtained a score of 94.79% with a highly practical category. The effectiveness of the learning media at SDN 22 Kampung Luar Salido, based on the percentage of improvement in student learning outcomes, showed an average increase. In the 4th lesson at SDN 22 Kampung Luar Salido, it was 95% with a highly effective category, while in the 5th lesson at SDN 22 Kampung Luar Salido, it was 90% with a highly effective category. Thus, it can be concluded that Articulate Storyline 3 media is deemed suitable for use in teaching and learning.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, learning is carried out online, to answer the challenges of online learning, it is necessary to make teaching materials that can be used from home, such as electronic modules. This study aims to produce an E-Module in Ethnosains-Based Integrated Science on Materials of Substance, Temperature, and Heat for VII Grade Students that is valid and practical. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D) using a 4D model, but the research only goes up to three stages including the define, design and develop stages. Based on the results of the study through the validity test of the E-Module, it obtained a validation scored of 85,82% with a valid category. The practical test by the teacher scored 90,74% in the very practical category and the practical test by the students scored 95,15% in the very practical category.

Science is one of the subjects whose learning is carried out in an integrated manner. Integrated science learning can be supported with integrated science worksheets. So far, the use of worksheets has not been maximized due to the availability of the worksheets themselves. In fact, with the integrated worksheet, the use of limited teaching materials can be more optimal. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a Nested-type integrated natural science worksheet. This study aims to produce a valid and practical Nested Type Integrated Science worksheet.The type of research used is Research and Development (R&D) using a 4-D research model consisting of four stages, namely, define, design, develop and disseminate. This worksheet was validated by three expert validators, namely science lecturers. The subjects of this study were class VIII students and science teachers. The object of research is the Nested Type Integrated Science worksheet.The results of this study obtained the following data: (1) The Nested type Integrated Science Worksheet that was developed was valid with a validity test result of 90.5% (very valid). (2) Nested Type Integrated Science LKS which was developed practically with practicality test results of 95.88% (very practical).

This study aims to determine the effect of the TGT type cooperative learning model on the material of the earth's structure and its dynamics on the knowledge competence of students at SMPN 01 Ulakan Tapakis. The research method used is a quantitative method. The form of this research is classroom action research. The nature of this research is collaboration with classroom action research design. The subjects of this study were seventh grade students of SMPN 01 Ulakan Tapakis. The collected data is processed and analyzed by calculating percentages and numbers. The study was conducted with a pretest and posttest in the experimental class and control class. The data obtained by the average pretest and posttest results in the experimental class was 40.19 and increased to 61.54. In the control class that is 41.35 and rose to 47.69. the similarity test of the two averages obtained is 5.22. Where the similarity test of the two averages is obtained from the N-gain value. The similarity test of two averages serves to see whether there is an increase or not in the treatment before and after. From the data above, it can be concluded that there is an effect of the treatment of the TGT type cooperative learning model on the knowledge competence of students at SMPN 01 Ulakan Tapakis.
