Abstract

This research aims to evaluate students' perceptions of the use of Arabic language learning applications, Al-Kunuz and Rosetta Stone, in the context of online learning in Islamic universities, especially at STAI Kuningan. The method used is a quantitative approach with a descriptive research design, involving 100 students as respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires measuring students' perceptions of the ease of use and effectiveness of the applications in improving speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. The results showed that the Al-Kunuz app received positive ratings for improving speaking and listening skills, with average scores of 4.2 and 4.3, respectively, while the Rosetta Stone app was more effective in improving reading and writing skills, with average scores of 4.2 and 4.1. Linear regression analysis revealed a significant relationship between the use of the two apps and the improvement of students' Arabic language skills, with an R-squared value of 0.76. This indicates that 76% of the variation in Arabic language skills improvement can be explained by the use of the apps. However, several obstacles—such as unstable internet connections and the need for training in application use—hinder optimizing the use of this technology. These findings provide important insights for the development of technology-based Arabic language learning in Islamic universities, with particular attention to improving infrastructure and training for both teachers and students.

Abstract

Oyster mushroom cultivation requires strict temperature and humidity control for optimal yields, yet conventional monitoring methods often lead to fluctuations that compromise production efficiency. This literature review aims to analyze the application of Internet of Things (IoT) technology for automated environmental monitoring and its impact on oyster mushroom production efficiency. Using a systematic literature review methodology, 15 relevant studies published between 2013 and 2023 were analyzed from databases including Google Scholar, IEEE Xplore, and Scopus. The analysis reveals that IoT systems utilizing microcontrollers (Arduino/NodeMCU), DHT11/DHT22 sensors, and automated actuators (fans, mist pumps) successfully maintain optimal growing conditions (temperature: 22–30°C, humidity: 70–95%). This technological implementation demonstrates significant production improvements, including yield increases of up to 40%, labor time reduction exceeding 70%, and enhanced mushroom quality with a higher proportion of Grade A harvests. These findings highlight IoT’s potential to revolutionize oyster mushroom cultivation through precision agriculture, offering a viable pathway for sustainable intensification in mushroom farming, particularly in resource-constrained settings where production stability is challenging to maintain.

Abstract

21st-century education demands a transformation from teacher-centered to student-centered learning that emphasizes the development of critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Project-Based Learning (PjBL) has emerged as an innovative approach that addresses these challenges, but an in-depth understanding of students' subjective experiences in PjBL remains limited. This study aims to explore and deeply understand students' learning experiences in implementing the Project-Based Learning Model at SMK Syntax Bisnis School Kuningan. The study used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design, involving 14 student participants selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis, then analyzed using the Colaizzi phenomenological analysis method. The results identified six main themes: the dynamics of experience at each stage of the project; facilitative factors (teacher support, authentic design, positive group dynamics); challenges faced (time management, interpersonal conflict, skill limitations); shifting perspectives on challenges; development of multidimensional competencies; and the fundamental transformation from passive to active learners. The study concluded that PjBL provides a transformative experience that develops a sense of ownership, resilience, and 21st-century competencies, with practical implications for teacher training, project design, skills scaffolding, and systemic support.

Abstract

The low level of respect among students towards teachers, peers, and the school environment is a challenge in character building in the digital era. This study aims to analyze the Implementation of Character Building in Cultivating Student Respect through Classical Guidance Services at SMPIT Ibnu Khaldun. The study used a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, in-depth interviews with guidance counselors, principals, and students, as well as documentation. Data analysis using the Miles and Huberman model included data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that the implementation of respect character building was carried out through three stages: (1) planning by integrating Islamic values and respectful character in the RPL of classical guidance; (2) implementation using interactive group discussions, role-playing, and storytelling methods; (3) evaluation through behavioral observation and student self-assessment. Supporting factors included the commitment of guidance counselors, support from school management, and Islamic culture. Obstacles in the form of heterogeneity of student character and limited time were overcome through collaboration with homeroom teachers. The implications of this study provide a practical model for Islamic schools in optimizing classical guidance services for the formation of respectful character in students.

Abstract

This study aims to develop effective marketing strategies using the Segmenting, Targeting, and Positioning (STP) approach to increase sales at Party Store Semarang, which has experienced a continuous decline in revenue over the recent period due to intensified competition. This research employed a quantitative method with a sample of 96 respondents, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the clustering method with the help of SPSS to identify market segments. The analysis revealed two main segments: "Influencers," young and social media-active consumers, and "Achievers," mature and career-oriented individuals. The store can adopt a differentiated targeting strategy and unique positioning for each segment to improve brand relevance and boost sales. Further research can boldly expand the distribution of the questionnaire and include consumers outside the store area in order to obtain a more diverse geographic segmentation. In addition, it is recommended to combine quantitative and qualitative approaches to increase data validity and obtain deeper insights.

Abstract

This study analyzes the legal implications of blocking dormant accounts by the Financial Transaction Reporting and Analysis Center (PPATK) on the principle of banking secrecy in Indonesia. Banking confidentiality as a fundamental principle has been regulated in Law Number 7 of 1992 as amended by Law Number 10 of 1998, which confirms that banks are obliged to keep customer data confidential. However, there are exceptions in terms of prevention and eradication of criminal acts, especially money laundering as regulated in Law Number 8 of 2010 concerning TPPU. In practice, the authority of PPATK to temporarily suspend transactions or block passive accounts based on Presidential Regulation Number 50 of 2011 raises legal problems. On the one hand, this policy is needed to maintain the integrity of the financial system from the potential misuse of inactive accounts as a means of money laundering. However, on the other hand, these actions have implications for the protection of customer rights, the principle of banking secrecy, and the implementation of due process of law. The research method used is normative juridical with legislative, conceptual, and case approaches. The results of the study show that the legal basis for PPATK's authority is available, but its implementation causes legal uncertainty because there is no balanced mechanism between the state's interests in eradicating financial crimes and the protection of customers' constitutional rights. Therefore, it is necessary to harmonize regulations and reformulate the supervisory mechanism so that the authority of PPATK remains proportional, accountable, and in accordance with the principles of substantive justice

Abstract

The globalization of video consultation platforms has exposed critical gaps in cross-cultural technology adaptation, with linguistic and cultural barriers significantly impeding equitable access to healthcare. This study investigated how cultural and linguistic factors influence user experience with video consultation platforms across diverse global contexts. A qualitative phenomenological approach was employed, utilizing purposive sampling to recruit 45 participants from six countries (Indonesia, Japan, Lebanon, India, Germany, Brazil) representing distinct cultural dimensions. Data collection occurred through semi-structured interviews (45-60 minutes) and think-aloud protocol sessions (n=18) between March and September 2024. Reflexive thematic analysis, following Braun and Clarke's framework, was conducted, achieving intercoder reliability (κ = 0.87), with data saturation confirmed at 38 participants. Five primary themes emerged: linguistic accessibility barriers affected 82.2% of non-English-speaking participants, and medical terminology translation difficulties ranged from 57.1% to 87.5% across countries. Collectivist culture participants (82.6%) preferred family-inclusive features, whereas individualist culture participants (80%) preferred individual-focused interfaces. Participants from a high-context communication culture required 47% longer to complete the task. Privacy priorities varied substantially, reflecting cultural specificity in trust-formation mechanisms. Visual design preferences varied markedly in color symbolism, information density (42%-78% preferred screen coverage), and icon recognition rates (37.5%-87.5%). Cultural and linguistic factors fundamentally shape the usability of video consultation platforms across multiple dimensions. Findings challenge universal design paradigms, establishing cultural responsiveness as essential to the equitable deployment of telemedicine. Platform developers must integrate comprehensive cultural adaptation, encompassing linguistic localization, accommodation of communication patterns, culturally appropriate privacy frameworks, and customization of visual design.

Abstract

The background of this research focuses on the importance of understanding the role of religion in modern society, particularly through the thoughts of two major figures in the sociology of religion, Max Weber and Émile Durkheim. Although both agree that religion influences social structures, their views on its role differ significantly. The purpose of this study is to compare the thoughts of Max Weber and Émile Durkheim regarding the role of religion in modern society. The methodology used in this study is a qualitative approach with literature analysis, in which data are collected through the examination of works related to the theories of Weber and Durkheim, as well as relevant previous studies. The results show that Weber emphasized the role of religion in the formation of capitalism, while Durkheim focused on its role in creating social solidarity. Although they approach the issue in different ways, both agree that religion has a significant influence on the formation and organization of society. This research contributes to enriching the study of the sociology of religion by offering a new perspective for understanding the dynamics of religion in an increasingly complex and pluralistic modern society

Abstract

Low self-confidence constitutes a significant psychological barrier impeding students' English language learning outcomes, particularly in speaking contexts. While digitally based guidance and counseling services have emerged as promising interventions for addressing psychological challenges, empirical evidence regarding their effectiveness in enhancing self-confidence specifically for English learning remains limited, particularly in Indonesian educational contexts. This study employed a mixed-methods design combining a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group approach with phenomenological inquiry. Seventy-eight secondary school students were randomly assigned to experimental (n=38) and control (n=40) groups. The experimental group received an 8-week digital counseling intervention comprising synchronous online sessions, asynchronous messaging support, psychoeducational modules, virtual peer support groups, and self-monitoring tools. Data were collected using the Self-Confidence in English Learning Scale (SCELS) and semi-structured interviews with 14 participants. Quantitative data were analyzed using mixed-design ANOVA, while qualitative data underwent thematic analysis. The analysis revealed a significant group × time interaction effect (F(1,76)=62.71, p<.001, η²p=.452), indicating substantially greater improvement in self-confidence in the experimental group (M=+24.26) than in the control group (M=+5.17). Significant effects were observed across all subscales, with Communicative Confidence showing the largest effect (η²p=.390). Qualitative findings identified enhanced accessibility, psychological safety, skill development, and peer support as key mechanisms underlying intervention effectiveness. Digital-based counseling services significantly enhance students' self-confidence in English learning through multiple mechanisms. These findings support the integration of digital counseling platforms into school guidance programs to address affective barriers in language education.
