Abstract

Orchids are one of the Indonesian people's most widely cultivated ornamental plants. Orchids are a family ofplants in the Orchidaceae family that includes more than 700 genera and around 28,000 individual species. In terms ofplant morphology, orchids can be distinguished based on the morphology of flowers, leaves, fruits, stems, and roots.Orchid leaves have their characteristics for each type of orchid, such as long, round, or lanceolate. All orchids have leafveins that are parallel to the leaves. This makes it difficult to identify the type of orchid flower, especially for laypeopl ewho are new to orchid cultivation and do not yet know the characteristics of various kinds of orchids. The individualshapes of orchid leaves can be classified using Random Forest and Histogram of Oriented Gradients (HOG). In thisstudy, three types of orchids that are currently popular with orchid lovers were used, namely Cattleya, Phalaenopsis, andVanda orchids taken from public data. The accuracy of this method in classifying orchid types based on leaf morphologycan be measured using a confusion matrix that measures accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score. The test results showthat this method successfully achieved an accuracy of 98%, with an average precision, recall, and F1-score of 0.98 each. These findings indicate that the model built can classify orchid species with a high level of accuracy based on leafmorphology.

Abstract

The construction process frequently necessitates the demolition of existing structures, resulting in substantialconstruction waste. A significant portion of this waste comprises demolition debris, particularly from concrete buildingmaterials. This research aims to develop standard concrete by partially substituting conventional coarse and fineaggregates with concrete waste materials. The substitutions involved replacing 25% and 50% of sand and gravel, respectively, by weight, using a K300 concrete mix design. Adopting the SNI 03-2834-2000 method, the mix design for 1cubic meter of concrete comprised cement (528 kg), sand (776.16 kg), gravel (807.04 kg), and water (205 kg). Theresults indicated an average sample weight reduction, with the first sample at 12.91 kg, the second at 12.79 kg, and thethird at 12.77 kg. This weight decrease suggests that using waste as a partial aggregate substitute impacts concretedensity. Compressive strength tests revealed a reduction of 5.98% in the concrete containing a 25% waste mixture, withaverage compressive strength declining from 307.22 kg/cm² to 288.94 kg/cm². A more pronounced reduction occurred inthe 50% waste mixture, where compressive strength decreased by 15.70% (from 307.22 kg/cm² to 259.06 kg/cm²). Thistrend aligns with the understanding that higher waste content correlates with greater mechanical strength reduction, likelydue to the differing physical properties of waste materials, such as lower density, which impact overall concreteperformance, particularly in compressive strength.

Abstract

Weather forecasting in Lhokseumawe is crucial due to its diverse climate and impact on community activities. It serves as an operational responsibility of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) worldwide. The method of forecasting currently employed by the BMKG involves meteorological teams observing and analyzingstatistics based on principles of mechanics and physics. Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) can be utilized to forecastlong-term weather conditions, with the backpropagation algorithm being an ANN algorithm employed for short-termweather prediction. This involves training the backpropagation architecture data, which includes an input layer with asize of 6 using Relu activation, one hidden layer with a size of 64 using Relu activation, and an output layer with a size of3 using softmax activation. We also apply the ADAM optimizer, loss sparse categorical crossentropy, and accuracymetrics. However, the backpropagation algorithm displays weaknesses, including slow convergence, overfitting, andsusceptibility to local minima, which can be addressed by utilizing the ADAM optimization algorithm. The researchutilizes Artificial Neural Network (ANN) with the backpropagation algorithm and ADAM optimization to predictweather conditions in Lhokseumawe City with high accuracy. The research methods comprise of data collection, preprocessing, division, model building, and evaluation. The study outcomes present the weather conditions as sunny, cloudy, or rainy with an algorithm accuracy of 72%.

Abstract

The management of broodstock is a crucial step in the fish breeding process. The size of the body andgonadal maturity are significant aspects of broodstock quality in aquaculture. To produce high-quality fish, thebrood needs to possess fully grown gonads and an ideal body size. According to several studies, green musselextract is thought to stimulate zebrafish growth and gonad maturation caused by estradiol compounds, althoughfurther testing on other fish, such as the Pangasius hypothalamus, has not yet been done. This research aims toevaluate the effect of administering crude green mussel extract containing estradiol compound via intramuscularinjection on the growth and maturation of pangas catfish gonads. The pangas catfish broodstock was treated with aninjection of green mussel extract and ovaprim at a dose of 0.5 mg/broodstock with three repetitions over a 30-daymaintenance period. The results show that the administration of green mussel extract at a dose of 0.5 mL/kgincreases weight growth. The homogeneity level of eggs in female pangas catfish induced with green musselextract is the same diameter as induction with ovaprim and slightly different from the control specimen (withouttreatment). The results show that the crude extract of green mussels in the methanol fraction, at a dose of 0.5mL/kg, can increase growth and egg diameter.
