Abstract

The "kurikulum merdeka" and “asesmen nasional” are part of the "merdeka belajar" policy that has been gradually implemented since 2020. In terms of implementation, the readiness of regions and schools varies, as experienced in the Mentawai Islands Regency. The author is interested in examining the reality and challenges of implementing this policy. The focus of this article is, first, to describe the potential of education starting from schools, students, teacher competencies, and the allocation of education budgets. Second, to describe the results of the implementation of the "Merdeka Curriculum" and the national assessment in all elementary schools in the Mentawai Islands Regency. The method used is a literature review, with secondary data sourced from journals, books, regional education reports, and the county's educational reports. The results found are as follows: 40 elementary school students have dropped out, out of 1,322 elementary school educators, only 19.1% are certified, and 80.9% are not certified. Teachers with qualifications appropriate for their roles make up 89.4%, while those not meeting the qualifications account for 10.6%. In 2022, the county government allocated a budget of Rp 716.6 billion from the APBD for the education sector. The readiness level for the implementation of the "Merdeka Curriculum" includes 97 schools that are “mandiri belajar,” 16 schools that have “mandiri berubah”, and no schools currently “mandiri berbagi.” The student literacy achievement is the lowest in the entire Sumatera Barat region, ranking 17th out of 19 cities/counties in Sumatera Barat for numeracy achievement, while student character development achievement is still at an early stage. These conditions indicate that education and the curriculum in the Mentawai Islands Regency are not fully independent.

Abstract

Along with criticism of objectivity, phenomenology is also often criticized for limitations in the generalization of findings. Because of its focus on unique individual experiences, phenomenology tends to ignore the social, cultural, and historical contexts that may influence those experiences. This makes it difficult to generalize phenomenological findings to wider populations, and limits their relevance in more general theory development. Abstract

This article explains how the operation of hegemonic power of capitalism works in the 2024 election in Indonesia, both in the presidential and legislative elections. The hegemonic power refers to the third-dimensional power introduced by Lukes, namely power in the ideological realm. This article argues that capitalism hegemony “grasps” all dominant narratives that emerged during the 2024 elections, both from election participants and civil societies. By using the concept of ideological cynicism introduced by Žižek, this article explains that capitalism in the ideological realm can be so effective because it appears not as an ideology, but as a kind of truth believed by everyone.

Abstract

Digitalization has caused the images of time and space to blur. The rapid flow of mediated information causes confusion and a lack of humanitarian awareness. This paper explains the reality of the Poco Leok case in the construction and expansion of the PLTP Ulumbu. Using Dromology theory by Paul Virilio in "Speed and Politics" with a qualitative approach. The Poco Leok case is often based on media narratives that state that the expansion of the PLTP Ulumbu is for the benefit of common welfare, but in reality, the expansion of the PLTP Ulumbu sacrifices and torments the people through land-greedy investments with iron fist regimes, domination of power, and neglect of people's voices in the public sphere. The media in the PLTP Ulumbu case succeeded in polarizing the community based on their interests and making the community the subject of receiving geothermal potential that must be managed.

Abstract

Social media, as a virtual platform for social contact, has undoubtedly brought about significant social changes over time, thanks to the ever-advancing technology of today. As society progresses, the way individuals behave can vary between their actions in the physical world and their actions in the online realm. The omnipresent TikTok application has enthralled a wide array of populations, encompassing both the privileged and the labouring class, across various age brackets. Social change refers to a fundamental shift in the structure and functioning of social relationships, encompassing aspects such as power dynamics, decision-making processes, social influence, family connections, and population patterns. In this instance, the author will examine how the TikTok application might effectively redirect individuals' desires towards an institution or the public in the virtual realm. This research employs a qualitative approach through a literature review, wherein prior studies are analysed and synthesized to create a new body of literature.

Abstract

Technological changes in this day and age mean that people in all parts of the world can communicate with each other, even over long distances. In Indonesia itself, there is a lot of use of online platforms in cyberspace. One of them is by creating an Online Community which allows a group of people to gather with the same goal to solve or discuss problems that are happening around them. Marginal school communities become online community forums for those interested in being part of volunteering who live in Yogyakarta. The volunteer action in question is carrying out various program plans which are considered to help improve personal quality and create personal potential for street children and marginalized children who do not receive the rights they should have. So, it can be seen that the Marginal School Community recruits online through their personal Instagram account called (@sekolah_marjinal). This Marginal School Community carries out various programs that support street children, such as teaching and learning programs, posyandu programs and community health centers and identity advocacy programs. The method used in this research to collect data is literature study, which involves searching or reading data from journals, books, related websites and scientific articles.

Abstract

Scientific work in the field of legal science in Indonesia often differs from the criteria for empirical scientific research at the level of modern science. The results of thesis and dissertation-level scientific research at law faculties have so far emphasized technical-juridical analysis for the needs of legal practice rather than academic research that criticizes and creates new scientific theories in the field of law. Dogmatic legal analysis, it seems, takes precedence over academic legal analysis that allows researchers to fulfill the critical scientific need for the renewal of legal dogmatics by the development of Society. The framework section is usually narrated without construction in the form of a 'theoretical framework' or 'analytical model' which often shows confusion in legal research. Legal dogmatic research focuses on evaluating the structure (language) of law and legal practice, i.e. how far the elements of the article as evaluation indicators are used with the resolution of the particular legal event being studied. Scholarly legal research often uses theory in presenting the framework for its theses and dissertations, and more than one theory is even related to the various narratives and descriptions of the proposed research. In addition, legal researchers present major frameworks in 'grand theory', 'middle-range theory', and applied theory' for research typically conducted in the field of pure science (pure social and human sciences).

Abstract

The phenomenon of Korean Popular Culture or Korean Pop (K-Pop) has become a hot topic in recent years, including in Indonesia. This culture, originating from South Korea, encompasses various aspects such as music, dance with unique choreography performed by girl groups and boy groups, as well as dramas that have become widely popular. K-Pop culture has gained widespread appeal across all demographics, including children, teenagers, adults, and especially university students. Based on this phenomenon, the researcher conducted a study aimed at exploring the correlation between the K-Pop cultural phenomenon and learning motivation among university students. The research employed a quantitative approach, supported by primary data collection through the distribution of questionnaires to 18 respondents. The results of the study indicated that K-Pop culture positively impacts students' learning motivation. Some of the reasons cited for this positive influence include K-Pop's ability to enhance students' moods while studying, serve as a form of self-reward, provide unique motivation, and inspire students to pursue further education or work in South Korea. However, the study also revealed that K-Pop culture has negative effects on some students. Several respondents felt that K-Pop was a time-waster, as it led them to become too engrossed in watching K-Pop content, thus neglecting their academic priorities. This highlights that while K-Pop can be a source of motivation, excessive involvement in it may distract students from focusing on their studies. Keyword: Phenomenon, K-Pop Culture, Motivation, Learning, University Students.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This article examines the dynamics of human environmental behavior through a behavioral approach to nature conservation efforts. The research highlights the importance of pro-environmental behavior, which can be influenced by social norms, economic incentives, and environmental education. By analyzing various studies and successful interventions applied in several regions, such as the recycling program in Surabaya and the "Bye Bye Plastic Bags" movement in Bali, this article demonstrates how behavioral change can support environmental conservation. The behavioral approach, which includes the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and social influence, is considered an effective tool for changing community habits to actively participate in environmental preservation. By utilizing interventions based on social norms, economic incentives, and educational campaigns, this research provides recommendations for more effective behavior-based environmental conservation policies in Indonesia. Keywords: Environmental behavior, social norms, economic incentives, environmental education, nature conservation ABSTRAK Artikel ini mengkaji dinamika perilaku lingkungan manusia melalui pendekatan behavioral dalam upaya pelestarian alam.
