Abstract

This study aims to test and formulate adaptive survival strategies for medium-scale coal trading companies in Indonesia that face price volatility, energy regulation, and global market uncertainty. Using the case study of PT ABC (an independent trader without mining assets), a qualitative approach was applied through a semi-structured FGD of two 120-minute sessions with six internal informants (four core management, one administrative staff, and one field staff). The analysis was carried out sequentially: PESTEL assessed external pressures, SWOT mapped strengths and weaknesses, and then Dynamic Capabilities and McKinsey 7S evaluated the organization's adaptation readiness. The results show that PT ABC excels in supply network and operational flexibility but is weak in internal governance and HR structure. A defensive strategy is recommended: operational efficiency, strengthening of organizational functions, and asset-light limited export expansion. This study enriches the literature by integrating an external-internal framework for independent commodity traders and opens up research space on the relationship between adaptive organizational structure and the success of survival strategies in the transitional fossil energy sector.

Abstract

Achieving projects on time and within budget is critical for PT. XYZ to meet its work plan and production targets. The company undertakes massive, simultaneous development projects, requiring effective project management to prevent sharp production declines. Projects executed under unit-price Construction Service Contracts must be closely monitored in terms of scope, schedule, and cost. Moreover, these contracts entail long lead times (~6 months from tender to contractor mobilization), so early and accurate duration estimates are essential to avoid contractor unavailability. This study applied Earned Value Management (EVM) to integrate scope, time, and cost data for forecasting project completion. Three EVM-based schedule forecasting methods were compared: Planned Value (PV), Earned Duration (ED), and Earned Schedule (ES). Five well development projects (A–E) were analysed as case studies. The results show that PV and ED provided the most accurate duration forecasts. PV was consistently the top performer, with very low mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) for projects A, B, and C (0.3–1.2%). While PV’s accuracy dropped for the delayed projects D (35.5% error) and E (9.4%), its forecasts were still far more accurate than those from ES. The ED method was also reliable (MAPE < 12% for A–C) and showed a similar decline in accuracy for projects D and E.

Abstract

This study examines how wearing Nike Air Jordan sneakers contributes to self-concept formation among sneakerheads in the Indonesia Sneaker Team (IST) community. Using Symbolic Interaction Theory and self-concept framework, this qualitative research explores the relationship between fashion products and identity construction. The study employed structured interviews with seven key informants, including IST leaders, active members, collectors, and content creators, selected through purposive sampling with specific criteria. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis following Daymon and Holloway's framework. Results indicate that Nike Air Jordan functions as a symbol representing identity, nostalgia, and personal values. The Mind element reveals that Air Jordan carries meanings of basketball passion, Michael Jordan idolization, and streetwear culture. The Self element shows enhanced confidence, coolness, and unique style expression. The Society element demonstrates how sneakerheads navigate between personal identity and social expectations. Self-concept formation occurs through three components: self-image (enhanced appearance and confidence), self-esteem (positive reactions from others), and ideal-self (inspiration from Michael Jordan's values). The study reveals that sneakerheads view Air Jordan as more than fashion items—they represent personal identity, motivation, and networking opportunities. These findings contribute to understanding consumer behavior in fashion products and provide insights for marketing strategies targeting sneaker enthusiasts.

Abstract

The demand for new electricity connection services at PT PLN (Persero) UP3 Manado continues to increase in line with the rapid growth of residential housing developments. The current payment model, which only requires one household to pay the connection fee upfront, further increases the risk of uncollected receivables and delays in network construction. This situation highlights the need for a more effective and integrated service improvement strategy. This study aims to formulate priority strategies for improving new electricity connection services for residential customers by considering internal and external factors, customer satisfaction levels, and the potential implementation of an innovative banking mechanism for payment transactions. A qualitative approach was employed through in-depth interviews with eight key informants from PT PLN (Persero) UP3 Manado and housing developers, supported by questionnaires to determine the weights and attractiveness scores (AS) in the SWOT and QSPM matrices. The findings reveal five dominant factors causing delays: limited availability of main distribution materials, repetitive administrative processes, unsynchronized payment mechanisms with construction progress, suboptimal internal coordination, and limited TMP monitoring. SWOT analysis generated ten alternative strategies, and QSPM results identified three priority strategies. The strategy with the highest total attractiveness score (7.03) is collaboration with banks to facilitate payment transactions, followed by partnership with housing developers (6.55), and development of an integrated new connection service (6.26). This research concludes that accelerating new electricity connections can be achieved by integrating innovative banking-based payment mechanisms, improving internal processes, and adopting digital technology support.

This program is expected to strengthen bilateral relations and improve the welfare of people in border areas. The research method used is qualitative, with a case study approach, where data are obtained through in-depth interviews with various stakeholders, including government officials, local communities, and non-governmental organizations. Analysis of related documents is also carried out to explore existing policies and programs. The results of the study are expected to show that the Border Management Agency plays an important role in facilitating collaboration between the City of Jayapura and cities in Papua New Guinea. This role includes the development of the economic sector, the promotion of cultural exchanges, and the resolution of security issues arising in the border region. In addition, the study is expected to find that challenges such as lack of infrastructure and lack of accurate information can hinder the effectiveness of the program. The output of this research is in the form of strategic recommendations to increase the effectiveness of the Sister City program, including strengthening communication networks and cooperation between related institutions. Thus, this research is expected to make a significant contribution to the development of policies that support better border management, as well as improve the welfare of the people on both sides. These results can also serve as a reference for further research on inter-city cooperation in border areas.

Abstract

Corruption remains a prevalent issue that can manifest at all tiers of government, including regional government in Indonesia. This research aims to empirically prove the impact of audit opinions, audit findings, fiscal decentralization, and capital expenditures on corruption within local government entities. In this study, the level of corruption is quantified using cases of regional government corruption that have received a final legal decision from the court. This research employs a quantitative methodology utilizing panel data regression analysis. The research population consists of all regency/municipality governments in Indonesia during the fiscal year period from 2018 to 2022. The sample was obtained using purposive sampling, yielding 219 regional governments which met the criteria. Over a five-year observation period, 1,095 observations were analyzed. The data was then processed and analyzed using Eviews version 12. The research results show that audit opinion and fiscal decentralization significantly reduce local government corruption. Higher audit quality and fiscal decentralization correlate with lower levels of corruption. Meanwhile, audit findings and capital expenditures have no effect on local government corruption.

Abstract

This study examines the challenges and opportunities for informal sector workers in accessing subsidized mortgages (KPR) in Bitung City, focusing on Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN). The research method used was a qualitative approach. The results indicate that the main obstacles faced by informal sector workers include income instability, limited official documents, and strict banking regulations. However, opportunities exist through financing innovation, the role of fintech, and government financial inclusion policies. Based on these findings, the study recommends more flexible policies and the use of financial technology to increase the accessibility of subsidized mortgages for informal sector workers.

Abstract

The mining industry faces increasing pressure to balance financial performance with environmental sustainability. This study aims to analyze the effect of capital structure and operational efficiency on financial performance, as well as to examine the role of Green Innovation as a moderating variable in mining sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the period 2019–2023. Financial performance is measured using Return on Assets (ROA), capital structure is measured by Equity Ratio (ER), operational efficiency is assessed through Total Asset Turnover (TATO), and green innovation is measured based on sustainability reporting indicators (GRI). This research adopts a quantitative approach using the WarpPLS analysis method. The results of the analysis indicate that capital structure has a positive and significant effect on ROA, and operational efficiency also has a positive and significant effect on ROA. Furthermore, green innovation is found not to moderate the effect of capital structure on ROA, but does moderate the effect of operational efficiency on ROA in a positive and significant direction. These findings indicate that green innovation plays an important role in strengthening or weakening the relationship between internal financial variables and the company's financial performance. Therefore, mining sector companies are advised to consider integrating green innovation into their financial strategies to enhance long-term sustainability and profitability.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the circular economy within micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), as well as social entrepreneurship ventures led or owned by women. The circular economy is regarded as an alternative to the linear economic model in addressing the climate crisis and broader global sustainability challenges. In the context of Indonesia, MSMEs play a vital role in the national economy, with a significant proportion managed by women, thereby positioning them as key agents of change in advancing sustainable business models. This research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing case studies and in-depth interviews with women-led MSMEs and social entrepreneurs engaged in circular business practices. The analysis employs the 9R framework and the ReSOLVE framework to assess the level of circularity implementation. Additionally, it incorporates a gendered leadership behavior framework to identify the leadership styles and enabling factors essential for accelerating the transition toward a circular economy. The findings reveal that while circular economy initiatives are emerging, entrepreneurs face several barriers, including consumer behavior preferences, limited knowledge, regulatory support gaps, supply chain collaboration issues, and organizational constraints—particularly the lack of skills, expertise, and technological capacity required for holistic implementation. Nonetheless, women's leadership—characterized by collaboration, participation, and value-driven approaches—facilitates the integration of social and environmental dimensions into circular business practices. This study proposes a gender-sensitive and sustainable circular economy business model for MSMEs and social enterprises, advocating for an inclusive, phased, and context-based transition strategy.

Abstract

In the current era, most government public services have adopted computerized and digital systems, known as e-Governance, referring to electronic technology use in various service sectors. However, after the Jakarta Provincial Government’s physical revitalization in 2022 at the Jakarta Arts Center Taman Ismail Marzuki (PKJ-TIM), the service system remained conventional. This caused slow service delivery, inadequate record-keeping, poor documentation, and limited public accessibility. To address these issues, this study aims to facilitate service access for the public and artists by transforming the PKJ-TIM Management Unit’s service system from conventional to web-based digital services. The development used the Agile methodology, enabling iterative, adaptive system development tailored to user needs. The system manages venue bookings for performance halls, supporting art and cultural activities. Key features include real-time information updates, an integrated payment gateway for secure online transactions, user feedback mechanisms, and automated digital documentation to improve transparency and access to historical data. Performance testing showed improved efficiency, faster booking processes, and higher user satisfaction. This research contributes to digital transformation literature in the arts and culture sector by presenting an Agile methodology case study in a public cultural institution. It highlights user-centered design’s importance and demonstrates how digital platforms can bridge service delivery gaps, promote inclusivity, and support Jakarta’s creative economy growth.
