Abstract

The widespread adoption of electronic learning (e-learning) in higher education has brought significant changes to how knowledge is delivered. Despite its advantages, many implementations remain focused solely on content dissemination, often neglecting learners’ emotional engagement. Emotional states, particularly in academic contexts, influence concentration, motivation, and comprehension. One of the most effective and intuitive indicators of emotion is facial expression. This research investigates the use of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), a deep learning approach, to automatically detect student emotions through facial image analysis. A dataset of facial expressions was constructed and divided into training and testing sets, each containing five distinct emotional categories: anger, happiness, fear, neutrality, and surprise. The CNN model was trained for 100 epochs, resulting in a training accuracy of 89% and a testing accuracy of 88%. These results demonstrate that CNN-based emotion recognition has strong potential to enhance e-learning platforms by providing instructors with real-time emotional insights. By integrating emotional feedback, educators can adapt instructional strategies more effectively to improve student engagement and learning outcomes. This study contributes to the growing field of affective computing and emphasizes the importance of emotional awareness in digital learning environments.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of implementing the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in enhancing student learning outcomes in the Embedded Systems course at State Vocational High School (SMKN) 10 Makassar. Traditional lecture-based teaching methods, which still dominate learning activities, are considered less effective in promoting student engagement and deep understanding of the material. To address this limitation, the PBL approach was introduced as an alternative that emphasizes real-world problem-solving and student collaboration. The research employed a quasi-experimental design involving two groups: an experimental group that applied the PBL model and a control group that continued with conventional instructional methods. A validated multiple-choice test, reviewed by subject-matter experts, was used to assess students’ cognitive performance. The findings demonstrate that the application of PBL significantly enhanced learning outcomes. The experimental group achieved a mean post-test score of 19.19, notably higher than the control group’s average score of 12.96. Results from the t-test analysis indicated a statistically significant difference between the two groups (t = 9.821 > t-table = 1.669). Furthermore, the N-Gain score for the experimental group was categorized as moderate (0.53), while the control group’s gain was classified as low (0.15). These results highlight that the PBL model not only strengthens students’ conceptual mastery but also fosters critical thinking abilities and better prepares them to meet challenges in technology-oriented work environments. This study offers valuable insights for enhancing instructional practices within vocational education settings.

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has transformed administrative processes in the education sector, driving the need for modern and efficient solutions. At SMA Negeri 2 Bungku, tuition payment (SPP) management was previously conducted manually, posing risks such as data inaccuracy, loss, and delays in reporting. This study introduces an innovative web-based tuition payment information system developed using the CodeIgniter framework and the Waterfall development model, encompassing stages of requirements analysis, system design, implementation, and testing. The proposed system offers a significant shift from manual to automated financial administration, enabling real-time data recording, transparent transaction histories, and automated report generation. A key innovation lies in the integration of features such as digital receipts, printable transaction summaries, and centralized student data management, all accessible through a user-friendly web interface. Evaluation results show a marked improvement in administrative efficiency, user satisfaction, and data accuracy. This system not only streamlines school financial operations but also sets a practical example for other educational institutions seeking to digitize their administrative services. The research contributes to the development of scalable and adaptable digital solutions in the education sector, enhancing transparency, accountability, and service quality.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of information technology has significantly influenced the transformation of administrative processes in the education sector. At MA Al-Aqsha Massaile, the student admission process had previously been conducted manually, leading to data management inefficiencies, extended queues, and delays in selection result announcements. This study aims to design and implement a web-based student admission information system to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and user satisfaction. The research adopted a qualitative and system development approach, involving interviews with school administrators to identify workflow challenges, followed by system development using the waterfall model. System testing and evaluation were conducted through user trials involving 30 respondents, including prospective students, parents, and school staff. The results indicate that 93.3% of users rated the system as "very effective" in simplifying the registration process, while 90% found the user interface intuitive and easy to navigate. Furthermore, 86.7% of respondents agreed that the system reduced errors in data input and improved the overall registration experience. These findings confirm that the web-based system significantly improves administrative efficiency and user experience in student admissions. Future recommendations include integrating the system with academic databases and implementing mobile-friendly features to support wider accessibility.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and validate the Blended Learning AMIR (Augmentation, Modification, Interactive, and Reflection) model for history education. The AMIR model represents an innovative integration of key elements from various established learning models, reconstructed to address the pedagogical demands of 21st-century learners. A distinctive feature of this model is its foundation in digital pedagogy, specifically through the utilization of the Edu Virtual Laboratory for History, which facilitates interactive and immersive learning experiences. The validation process yielded an average score of 3.69, indicating that the BL-AMIR model is considered valid by expert reviewers across all core components. These components include (1) syntax, (2) social system, (3) principles of reaction, (4) support system, and (5) instructional and nurturant effects, which collectively define the model’s structure and expected learning outcomes. The findings reveal that the BL-AMIR model enhances student engagement with authentic historical content, promotes problem-focused learning, and encourages meaningful collaboration. Furthermore, students demonstrated increased awareness of the benefits of combining online and face-to-face learning environments. The study concludes that the BL-AMIR model offers a significant pedagogical innovation for enhancing historical thinking and collaborative learning in blended educational settings.
