Abstract

Kampung Gerabah Tourism is the only pottery educational tour in the Blitar area. The tour has been established since 2014. Ideally, with 11 years of age, this tour should have been established and able to attract a significant number of tourist visits. However, findings in the field indicate that the growth in the number of tourist visits is still relatively low. This study aims to identify the development stage of Kampung Gerabah Blitar Tourism by examining tourism elements including attractions, accessibility, amenity, accommodation, and tourist visits which are then analysed using the Tourism Area Life Cycle theory. The method used is a qualitative approach with a case study design. The data in this study includes the number of tourist visits, tourism managers, attractions, accessibility, accommodation, amenity, and the process of tourism activities. The data were obtained from purposive respondents through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that attractions are interesting, while accessibility needs improvement with information boards and directions. The amenity is enough to support the needs of tourists. Meanwhile, lodging accommodation is in the process of being built. Overall, the development of Kampung Gerabah tourism is in the pre-involvment stage, which can be seen from the appearance of the initial signs towards the involvment stage. The implication of this research is to identify the development stage of Kampung Gerabah Tourism so that it can be used by managers in formulating tourism development strategies.

Abstract

This research aims to identify and analyze the innovations and trends of tour packages developing in Belu Regency in facing the 5.0 era, an era where digital technology and artificial intelligence are increasingly affecting various sectors, including tourism. Belu Regency, located in East Nusa Tenggara, has great tourism potential, but still faces challenges in developing tour packages that suit the needs and preferences of modern tourists. Through a qualitative approach, this research collected data through interviews with tourism industry players, as well as literature studies related to technological innovation in the tourism sector. The results show that in the 5.0 era, Belu Regency has begun to integrate technology such as mobile applications, online booking systems, and social media in the development of tour packages. Emerging trends include local experience-based tour packages, culture- and nature-based tourism, and the use of technology to provide more personalized and interactive services for tourists. However, there are still constraints related to digital infrastructure and human resource capacity in managing these technologies. This research recommends the importance of collaboration between the government, local communities, and the private sector in accelerating the adoption of innovations to improve Belu Regency's tourism competitiveness in the digital era.

Abstract

This research aims to assess the room redevelopment project at Villa Kayu Raja, focusing on enhancing room quality and increasing occupancy rates and design an applicable model for redevelopment projects in similar hospitality setting. The study employs a Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) based approach (initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing) supported by theories in Project Success Criteria and Room Occupancy. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach, the data was collected through observation, in-depth interviews with eight key informants from the Heads of Department (HOD), Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) involving six operational department heads, and comprehensive document studies. The room redevelopment project at Villa Kayu Raja was implemented using the PMBOK process cycle and driven by both internal inputs from the MOD checklist and external guest feedback. The redevelopment significantly improved room quality and the overall guest experience. Key enhancements included modernized furnishings, upgraded bathroom facilities, improved lighting, and the incorporation of aesthetic design elements, all of which contributed to more positive guest perceptions. Operational benefits were also observed, including increased maintenance efficiency, more streamlined housekeeping processes, and a reduction in guest complaints. Occupancy data analysis indicated a notable post project increase of 93.92%, particularly among Free Independent Travellers (FITs), highlighting a strong correlation between room upgrades and market appeal. Furthermore, guest reviews across major Online Travel Agencies (OTAs) reflected higher ratings and frequent mentions of comfort, cleanliness, and interior design as standout features following the redevelopment. These findings support the application of an operational management cycle model in similar redevelopment initiatives. This study contributes and provide practical insights and valuable applied knowledge to the field of hospitality industry, particularly on how strategic room redevelopment projects enhance room quality and increase occupancy rates in similar villa properties.

Abstract

Palungan Salt is a unique tourism potential in Les Tourism Village, Tejakula District, Buleleng Regency. This tourism product not only offers salt processed using traditional methods, but also prioritizes aspects of education, cultural preservation, and community empowerment. It is managed by local entrepreneurs with the aim of collecting, storing, preserving, and introducing Palungan Salt to tourists as an authentic and sustainable attraction. This study highlights the potential and appeal of Palungan Salt, explained through the 4A theory: attractions (unique and educational attractions), accessibility (ease of access to the location), facilities (supporting facilities for tourists), and additional services (additional services to support comfort). The results indicate that Palungan Salt has high selling value as an educational tourism destination as well as a creative economy that can strengthen the image of Les Tourism Village in the tourism arena. Such as limited infrastructure, minimal promotion, low human resource capacity, limited funding, and less than optimal strategic partnerships with educational institutions or the private sector. To overcome these obstacles, the study designed a development model based on community participation, improved facilities, integrated educational programs, sustainable digital promotion, and cross-sector collaboration to strengthen the local economy and preserve cultural heritage. The resulting development model is expected to serve as a strategic reference for managers, village governments, and other stakeholders in improving the quality and number of tourist visits. Furthermore, this model also plays a role in improving operational management, marketing, and the management of local wisdom-based tourist attractions, so that Palungan Salt can become a superior tourism product that provides economic and social benefits to the Les Village community.

Abstract

The Pelebon Ceremony At Puri Ubud, Gianyar, Bali Is A Hindu Balinese Funeral Ritual Imbued With Deep Spiritual Significance, While Also Serving As A Major Cultural Tourism Attraction.  However, another potential issue may arise, as Merton also reminds us of the risk of dysfunction, for instance when tourists perceive the ceremony merely as entertainment or a commodity, thereby neglecting its sacred dimension. This Study Aims To Analyze The Perceptions Of Balinese Domestic Tourists, Non-Balinese Domestic Tourists, And International Tourists Toward The Pelebon Ritual, Employing Robert K. Merton’s Structural Functional Theory As The Analytical Framework. A Qualitative Descriptive Method Was Applied Through In-Depth Interviews, Direct Observations, And Literature Reviews. The Findings Reveal That Balinese Domestic Tourists Emphasize The Sacred Function Of Pelebon As A Religious Obligation, Ancestral Heritage Preservation, And Communal Identity Reinforcement. Non-Balinese Domestic Tourists Perceive Pelebon As An Intercultural Experience That Enhances Multicultural Awareness And Strengthens National Identity, Though It Is Sometimes Interpreted Merely As An Exotic Spectacle. Meanwhile, International Tourists Appreciate Pelebon As A Unique Aesthetic And Spiritual Experience That Elevates Bali’s Global Image, Yet It Also Carries The Risk Of Cultural Commodification.
