Abstract

This research aims to analyze the dynamics of the relationship between the community and PT. Pertamina following the explosion at the Pertamina Plumpang Depot. The study employs a qualitative approach, collecting data through observation, media monitoring, and company documents. The results indicate that the explosion event has significantly impacted the relationship between PT. Pertamina and the surrounding community. Concerns, uncertainty, and a sense of insecurity among the public have posed various challenges in maintaining a harmonious relationship. Despite PT. Pertamina's efforts to improve its image and address the negative impacts, there remains an expansion of perceptual gaps between the company and the community. The implications of these findings can serve as a foundation for PT. Pertamina and relevant stakeholders in designing more effective communication strategies to strengthen post-incident community relations.

Abstract

This research was conducted to conduct an in-depth analysis of the interconnection between mass media coverage, corporate crises, and the role of media in shaping public perception, with a focus on the specific case of the eSAF Motor Honda's frame breakage reported by CNN Indonesia. The research employed a qualitative approach. The results of the study indicate that there was intensive coverage on CNN Indonesia, particularly in August, with an initially negative tone. Consumer responses influenced public perception and exerted pressure on the company. In other words, the reputation crisis faced by PT Astra Honda Motor requires effective and transparent communication management to address consumer concerns and restore the company's image. Companies need to maintain open and ongoing communication to support the recovery of their reputation.

Abstract

Website accessibility is essential for guaranteeing that digital services are accessible to all users, including those with visual impairments.  This research assesses the accessibility of the Panti Pendowo website in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 standards and utilises the Google Lighthouse evaluation tool.  The findings reveal that the page loading speed received a score of 70, website responsiveness 80, code efficiency 65, and heading structure 60.  Nonetheless, notable deficiencies were noted, including inadequate colour contrast (50), ineffective keyboard navigation (55), and insufficient utilisation of alternate text for images (40).  The findings indicate that although the website functions adequately, enhancements in accessibility are necessary.  Essential recommendations encompass improving colour contrast, optimising keyboard navigation, clarifying heading hierarchies, and incorporating alternate text for images.  The enhancements intend to render the website more inclusive and to enhance the user experience for visually impaired persons.

Abstract

Autonomous Fire Extinguisher (AFE) On The Ship or known as an automatic fire extinguisher on a ship is a fire extinguisher without a crew in it in the form of a ship prototype. The fire extinguisher is controlled automatically using a cellphone remote control. This fire extinguisher can also extinguish fire automatically according to the fire point. The research method used is system design and development. The system is designed with an Infrared Flame Sensor, and ESP8266 Wi-Fi to deploy the ship to the position of the fire point and extinguish the fire automatically. The data obtained will be sent to the application using a Raspberry Pi Pico and hardware design to determine the system architecture, selecting appropriate components, software design to develop algorithms and programs, as well as testing and evaluation to assess overall system performance. Data collection techniques are carried out through system testing to evaluate the performance of the component system and the integration of the entire system. The test results show that the Infrared Flame Sensor can detect fire points at a distance of 40cm to 80cm and the active and focused sprayer control system can extinguish according to the accuracy of the fire point (fire) automatically. The results of this test are used to ensure that each component functions according to the specifications that have been given, develop simple tools to be more effective, efficient and improve technology.

Abstract

Scarlett, a local beauty brand, has achieved significant success in its marketing efforts, particularly through the strategic exploitation of electronic word-of-mouth (e-WOM) on the social media platform TikTok. By leveraging reviews, testimonials, and recommendations from users and influencers, Scarlett drives interactions that increase brand awareness. In this context, e-WOM serves as a strategic communication instrument that can be utilized by PR practitioners to foster good brand perception. For this purpose, a quantitative approach was used, which involved distributing a questionnaire to 100 TikTok users who follow Scarlett’s official account. The findings of the current study prove that the dimensions of e-WOM, specifically intensity, opinion, and content, have a significant influence on Scarlett’s brand awareness. The findings of this study prove that the integration of social media and E-WOM (Electronic Word-of-Mouth) in PR strategies is a crucial factor in strengthening a brand’s presence in the contemporary digital landscape, which is characterized by increasing competition.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the interpersonal communication process between sellers and buyers through the Direct Message (DM) feature on the Instagram account @seafood_brother_lpg and to understand the symbolic meanings created within the interaction. This research applied a descriptive qualitative method by collecting data through interviews, observation, and documentation.The results show that interpersonal communication through DM occurs in a two-way, interactive, responsive, and personal manner. The communication process takes place in several stages: opening, exchanging information, negotiation, and closing messages. It uses casual language, friendly greetings, emoticons, and Voice Notes, which not only facilitate transactions but also build emotional closeness and customer loyalty.Symbolic meanings are reflected through emoticons, Voice Notes, and warm greetings, representing familiarity, attention, and emotional closeness between the seller and customer. The Direct Message feature has proven effective in simplifying the ordering process, delivering information, handling complaints, and maintaining good relationships in online business.

Abstract

Local government performance and the availability of public service infrastructure are two important indicators in assessing the success of regional development. This study aims to examine the relationship between the number of post offices as an indicator of public service infrastructure and the performance scores of provincial governments in Indonesia. The data used are from the 2007 Transportation Statistics (number of post offices per province) and the 2016 Ministry of PAN-RB report (local government performance scores). The results of the analysis indicate that provinces with better public service infrastructure tend to have higher government performance scores. Although not all correlations are strong and significant, these findings indicate the importance of equal infrastructure to support effective governance.

Abstract

In the modern era, which demands high-quality healthcare services, public trust has become a critical element for the sustainability of hospitals. This study aims to identify the home visite program as a means of strengthening the positive image of RSI Sakinah in Mojokerto Regency. The research method employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation. Informants were selected using purposive sampling, consisting of the head of the hospital’s public relations division and patients who received the home visite service. The results showed that the home visite program successfully strengthened the positive image of RSI Sakinah in Mojokerto Regency through empathetic, responsive, and adaptive communication strategies tailored to the social, cultural, and educational backgrounds of patients. This personal approach fostered closer emotional connections between the hospital and its patients, thereby enhancing their loyalty and satisfaction. Quarterly evaluations demonstrated that this program effectively reduced the number of complaints significantly and reinforced the hospital's positive image. The practical implications of this study provide practical guidance for the management of RSI Sakinah to develop more structured communication strategies to strengthen long-term patient loyalty.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the presence of a Thai drama series in the Boys Love genre, Bad Buddy: The Series. Where the drama series Bad Buddy: The Series has become popular since the end of 2021 and has attracted viewers in Indonesia, especially the Raikantopeni community. This study aims to determine whether there is an effect of Thai drama Bad Buddy: The Series on interest in learning Thai in the Raikantopeni community. The research method used is Quantitative with an explanatory survey quantitative approach. The theory used in this research is the Uses and Gratifications theory. The data collection technique used was by using questionnaires / surveys and also literature studies. The results of this study indicate that sub-variable X (Thai drama shows), namely 1) The intensity of watching the drama series Bad Buddy: The Series has a significant effect on interest in learning Thai in the Raikantopeni community. 2) The content of the message in the drama series Bad Buddy: The Series has a significant effect on interest in learning Thai in the Raikantopeni community. 3) The attractiveness of watching the drama series Bad Buddy: The Series also has a significant effect on interest in learning Thai in the Raikantopeni community.

Abstract

Digital media plays a crucial role as a primary source of information, reference, and inspiration in shaping parenting communication styles, particularly among younger parents such as Generation Z. Gen Z parents actively access social media content to gain insights into more empathetic and adaptive communication patterns for their children's needs. This study aims to understand how digital media consumption, particularly through the Instagram account @talkparenting, influences the parenting communication styles of Gen Z parents aged 23–28. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews and digital documentation of eight purposively selected informants. The results indicate that social media is not only a source of information but also functions as an agent of socialization of new values and norms in family communication practices. Gen Z parents tend to adopt an affective communication style—which emphasizes empathy, emotional validation, and acceptance—and an adaptive directive, a parenting approach that remains directive yet flexible and supportive of children's development. The educational content on the @talkparenting account serves as a primary reference in shaping their understanding of positive communication, conflict resolution, and emotional regulation in parent-child relationships. These findings support Kaplan and Haenlein's (2010) theory regarding the role of social media as an interactive platform that facilitates social learning and the transformation of interpersonal communication styles. This study highlights the importance of improving digital literacy among young parents, as well as the need to develop positive, educational, and relevant parenting content to support the formation of healthy communication patterns within the family. Thus, social media has great potential to become a strategic partner in supporting more conscious, reflective, and value-based parenting practices.
