Abstract

The low yield of soybeans is caused by drought, soft organic matter, and space for irregular plant growth. This study examines how plant spacing, and straw mulch dosage affect soybean yield. The research was conducted from August to December 2021 at the Field Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, UHO. The research tools used in this study were tractors, hoes, ruler meters, ovens, analytical scales, and other supporting equipment. The materials consisted of soybean of the Anjasmoro variety, straw mulch, and other supporting materials. The study used a split-plot design arranged in a randomized block design. The main plot is the spacing (J) which consists of 2 levels, namely 20 cm x 20 cm (J1) and 20 cm x 30 cm (J2). Subplots were the dose of straw mulch (M) which consisted of three levels, namely without straw mulch (M0), 4 tons ha-1(M1), and 8 tons ha-1 (M2). The observed variables included the total number of pods per plant, weight of 100 seeds (g), seed weight per plant (g), harvest index (IP), and yield (tons). ANOVA analyzed data, and statistically different were tested by DMRT (α=0.05) using SAS 9.2. The interaction of plant spacing and straw mulch an increasing: the total number of pods, the weight of 100 grains, grain weight, harvest index, and yield. Plant spacing of 20 cm x 30 cm and the straw mulch of 8 t ha-1 (J2M2) obtained a product of 2.18 t ha-1 (an increase of 44.4%) compared to a spacing of 20 cm x 20 cm and without straw mulch (J1M0).

Abstract

Rural poverty in Indonesia receives excellent attention. Therefore, many poverty reduction programs have been created. The government has made a Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) program to improve people's welfare. This study aims to determine the socioeconomic factors related to the dynamics and success of BUMDes in developing the economy of rural communities. The variables in this study are the amount of capital, motivation, leadership, availability of facilities and infrastructure, village government support, the number of business types, and the dynamics of BUMDes on the success of BUMDes The research was conducted from September to October 2022. Respondents in this study totaled 60 people consisting of administrators and the village community. Data collection was carried out through interview techniques with questionnaires. Analysis of the data used nonparametric statistics with the Spearman Rank correlation test. The results of this study indicate that the amount of capital, motivation, leadership, and availability of infrastructure are related to BUMDes dynamics and success. Still, village government support and the number of types of businesses are not related to BUMDes dynamics and success.

Abstract

This study seeks to determine the food security status of sago farmers in Lasolo District, North Konawe Regency, during the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the function of Sago in achieving food security for sago farmers in Lasolo District, North Konawe Regency, during the Covid-19 pandemic. From August to September 2021, this research was conducted in Lasolo District, North Konawe Regency. This study's population consisted of 20 sago producers. Using the census technique, the researchers sampled the entire population of sago producers in the Lasolo District. The household food security survey instrument developed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) was utilized for this study's analysis. The results indicated that 50% of sago producers in the Lasolo District had a marginal food security status, 30% had a low food security status, and 30% were deficient. At the same time, there were no food-secure households—high-calorie foods. Upon categorization into two categories, each sago farmer falls at the 50 percentile for food security and food insecurity. The previous year, sago producers in the Lasolo District consumed Sago as a staple diet. In the past week, 80 percent of Sago local foods were finished with a frequency of three to four days. This demonstrates that Sago plays a crucial role in ensuring the food security of sago producers in the Lasolo District, particularly those who are food insecure.

Abstract

Rubber plants are export commodities that can contribute to efforts to increase Indonesia’s foreign exchange. Rubber, as a leading commodity, has been carried out for a long time by the people of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province as a source of income. Rubber farmers in Indonesia, one of which is in Bangka Regency, namely Kemuja Village, almost all farmers use alum as a rubber coagulant. Based on government regulations, SNI Bokar has set one using coagulants such as Asam ant or Deorub. The people of Kemuja Village once used the coagulant, but the situation did not last long. Various perceptions of farmers on the use of coagulants influence this. This study farmers’ perceptions of using alum coagulants in Kemuja Village, Mendo Barat District. This research was held on November 2021 to June 2022. This study uses the variable perception of 3 indicators: attitudes, interests, and expectations. The research method used is the survey method, which uses the Non Probability Sampling method. The determination of respondents has been carried out intentionally and purposively among as many as 35 respondents. Primary data collection techniques were obtained from interviewing respondents using questionnaires. The method of data analysis used descriptive analysis with a Likert scale. The results showed that the farmer’s perception index score was 66.3 percent, which was positive, consisting of 66.5 percent of attitude indicators perception, 67.4 percent interest, and 64.9 percent hope of using alum as a rubber coagulant.

Abstract

Regional development based on the region's potential, condition, and characteristics will increase regional competitiveness and economic growth. This study determines the advantages of agricultural and manufacturing sectors to support economic growth in Southeast Sulawesi Province. Using descriptive-quantitative analysis, this research data are GRDP values of 12 (twelve) Regencies/Cities in Southeast Sulawesi Province in 2016-2021. The analysis model used is the analysis of LQ, DLQ, and MRP methods. The results of the study found that the agricultural sector in regencies/cities except Kendari City plays a leading industry, meaning that it makes the most significant contribution to economic growth but has slow growth because the productivity of agricultural products decreases from year to year. The manufacturing sector in regencies/cities is a non-base sector, and change is not dominant, so it has a low contribution to the economic growth of regencies/cities and Southeast Sulawesi Province, except for the Konawe Regency. The manufacturing sector in Southeast Sulawesi had a soft gift because it is dominated by the food and beverage industry with low production value, resulting in slow growth. Competitiveness-based development policies according to regional potential will encourage the performance of all economic sectors. Programs to increase agricultural productivity, the primary industry, boost economic growth, and support added value in the manufacturing sector.

Abstract

The demand for red chilies grows yearly, in tandem with the increase in population or industries that use red chili as raw resources. This research aims to examine the effect of the determiner of chili demand in Indonesia and categorize them as substitutes or complementary goods. This research employs a quantitative descriptive design with secondary data analysis from the Central Bureau of Statistics. The variables studied were the average prices of red chilies, cayennes pepper, tomatoes, shallots, and garlic in Indonesia from 2010 to 2020. Cayenne pepper, tomato, garlic, and garlic prices significantly affect the 1% level, whereas the population does not affect red chili demand. The analytical tool used is the Cobb-Douglas model regression and elasticity analysis. The result shows that the impact of cayenne pepper, tomato, and garlic prices is directly proportional to the demand for red chilies. On the other hand, shallots significantly have an inverse impact on the demand for chilies. The high price of cayenne pepper, the cost of tomatoes, also the price of garlic will increase the demand for red chili, while the high price of shallots will reduce the need for red chili. According to price elasticity analysis, the cost of red chili is elastic to the demand for red chili in Indonesia. Cross-elasticity analysis shows that cayennes pepper, tomatoes, and garlic are substitutes, while shallots are complementary goods to red chilies.

Abstract

This study aims to ascertain how production inputs affect cassava farming production and examine how to use production inputs as efficiently as possible. The research location was selected because the research area is a center for cassava production. The Cobb-Douglas production function model is an analytical technique used to assess how production inputs affect cassava output. Analyze the level of input utilization optimization at the same time by comparing the marginal product's value to other inputs. The study's variables included land area, labor, seeds, urea-fertilizer, NPK-fertilizer, ZA-fertilizer, SP36-fertilizer, herbicides, and production yields. The result of this research is that production inputs simultaneously influence cassava production. Several production inputs used in cassava farming in Marga Tiga District are still not optimal and need to be added, including land area, organic fertilizer, urea fertilizer, and ZA fertilizer. Meanwhile, several other production inputs, namely labor, seeds, NPK fertilizer, SP 36 fertilizer, and herbicides, are not optimal, so farmers need to reduce them.
