Abstract

The rapid growth of e-commerce in Indonesia has increased the volume of marketplace transactions, leading to a surge in consumer disputes. However, current dispute resolution mechanisms remain conventional and ineffective in addressing the unique challenges of digital transactions. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) as an alternative mechanism for resolving consumer disputes in marketplace transactions, and to examine the urgency of establishing a comprehensive legal framework for ODR in Indonesia. Employing a normative juridical approach, this research reviews primary and secondary legal materials, including laws, regulations, and relevant literature, with qualitative descriptive analysis. The findings reveal that Indonesia lacks specific ODR regulations, limiting its optimal application despite its recognition in existing laws. Implementing ODR can enhance consumer access to justice by providing faster, simpler, cost-effective dispute resolution methods. The study emphasizes the need for comprehensive legal reforms to regulate ODR procedures, institutional responsibilities, data security, and the enforceability of ODR decisions. Strengthening the legal basis for ODR will improve consumer protection, legal certainty, and public trust in digital transactions, supporting a fairer digital economy.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the moderating role played by quality audit in the relationship between the tobacco excise rates, the cost of debt, and tax avoidance. Quantitative methods were used for this study. The study uses e Views version 10 to analyze data from 2010-2019, collected from a sample of roughly 40 records (four companies) in the IDX's tobacco sector. The results revealed that tobacco excise rates affect tax avoidance, furthermore, the quality audit can strengthen the moderating effect of tobacco excise rates on tax avoidance encircled to the Quasi Moderator category and is also consistent with the Theory of Planned Behaviour. On other hand If we use audit quality as a moderator, we find that the cost of debt has no effect on tax avoidance.

Abstract

In the increasingly competitive soy sauce market, consumer loyalty and satisfaction are challenged by product quality, packaging issues, and corporate social responsibility. Despite Bango sweet soy sauce’s strong brand presence, limited research has analyzed consumers’ shared values and pain through an ethnographic lens. This study aims to explore how Bango creates shared value and addresses consumer pain points during purchase experiences. Using a realistic ethnographic method, the study involved participant observation and in-depth interviews with five consumers at the Berkah Azzahra store. Findings reveal that shared value is driven by Bango’s commitment to empowering local soybean farmers, promoting environmental sustainability, and fostering emotional brand connections. Meanwhile, pain value is associated with packaging issues, particularly leaky plastic packaging that affects product hygiene and consumer convenience. These insights highlight the importance of maintaining product authenticity while addressing practical consumer concerns. The study implies that continuous improvements in packaging, alongside strengthened CSR programs, can enhance consumer trust and loyalty. For companies like Unilever, this research offers a strategic foundation to refine marketing and product development initiatives based on real consumer experiences.

Abstract

The transformation of the financial services sector, driven by digitalization and regulatory dynamics, has placed new demands on insurance brokerage firms to act as intermediaries and innovation-driven strategic partners. This study aims to analyze innovation management within Indonesian insurance brokerage companies that develop retirement credit life insurance, particularly in the context of regulatory pressure and digital transformation. Employing a qualitative case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document reviews involving strategic-level informants. Thematic analysis revealed three main findings: (1) innovation efforts are primarily focused on digitizing service processes and integrating systems with banks to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction; (2) regulations issued by Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority (OJK) act as catalysts for innovation, pushing firms to adopt transparent, tech-based systems; and (3) ambidextrous strategies are adopted to balance service exploitation and innovation exploration. These findings validate the relevance of Open Innovation, Regulatory-Driven Innovation, and Organizational Ambidexterity in the insurance brokerage sector. Practically, this study offers strategic insights for brokerage firms to collaborate with insurtechs and banks, while also informing regulators to develop flexible policies that foster innovation without compromising consumer protection. The research contributes to bridging the gap in the literature on innovation management in insurance brokerages under strict regulatory constraints.

Abstract

The insurance brokerage industry in Indonesia faces digital disruption, regulatory shifts, and fragmented knowledge systems, necessitating integrated digital KM for strategic transformation. Despite existing studies on KM in financial services, sector-specific models for brokerages remain scarce. This research aims to (1) examine how digital KM drives strategic transformation, (2) assess the roles of digital HR, IT infrastructure, cyber risk, and regulatory adaptation, and (3) develop a validated model for brokerage firms. A deductive quantitative approach using PLS-SEM analyzed data from 300–500 Indonesian brokerage managers via structured questionnaires. The model tested hypotheses on five enablers’ influence on KM-mediated transformation. Digital KM significantly enhances transformation (β = 0.316, p < 0.001), with IT infrastructure (β = 0.301) and digital HR (β = 0.274) as primary drivers. Cyber risk (β = 0.193) and regulatory adaptation (β = 0.210) also contributed, albeit with smaller effects. The model explained 59.4% of transformation variance (R² = 0.594), demonstrating strong predictive power (Q² > 0.35). Organizations must embed KM into core processes and leadership strategies, while industry collaboration and policymakers should standardize KM governance. Future research should explore longitudinal impacts and AI-enhanced KM systems.

Abstract

This study examines the readiness of MUN Public Accounting Firm (KAP MUN) to implement Standard on Quality Management 1 (SQM 1). The research employs single case study with a single unit of analysis. Interview data were evaluated using content analysis and thematic analysis with the aid of NVivo 15 software. The research result shows that KAP MUN has not fully implemented IFAC small firm implementation installment indicators steps and faces challenges across all three key determinants of implementation capability, which negatively affects its readiness to adopt SQM 1. Sole proprietorship accounting firms like KAP MUN are inadequately prepared to implement SQM 1. Regulatory bodies and professional organizations should provide enhanced support for sole proprietorship accounting firms. The novelty of this research is that it discusses SQM 1 and applies the IFAC small firm implementation installment indicators alongside three key determinants of implementation capability to assess readiness for SQM 1 implementation.

Abstract

Urban slums remain a significant challenge in Indonesia, exacerbated by rapid population growth and inadequate local government intervention. Remote sensing technologies offer high accuracy in mapping these areas, yet a lack of community engagement and knowledge hinders their effective application. This study aims to explore the integration of remote sensing applications with community engagement strategies to enhance urban planning and development in densely populated slum areas. The research employs case studies across various urban areas in Indonesia, complemented by participatory workshops with community members and local officials to gather insights and develop a participatory framework. The study identifies barriers to stakeholder engagement and highlights the potential of combining remote sensing data with local knowledge to create actionable urban development plans. The findings contribute to sustainable urban development discourse by providing guidelines for local governments on leveraging remote sensing data while actively involving communities, ultimately improving urban planning outcomes in Indonesia.
