Abstract

Microfinance plays a pivotal role in enhancing Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Aceh, contributing to business growth and economic development for the middle-income population. The availability of microfinance initiatives has proven beneficial to many middle-income individuals, fostering economic growth in the production of goods and services. Moreover, it contributes to economic development for the middle-income community while simultaneously reducing unemployment rates in West Aceh. This research aims to investigate the influence of microfinance on the establishment of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises. The study is conducted at the Pegadaian Meulaboh office, focusing on the Johan Pahlawan district. Motivated by a desire to gain deeper insights into the growth of MSMEs in the Johan Pahlawan area, the research utilizes primary data analysis. The research sample comprises independently operating MSMEs in the Johan Pahlawan district. The findings underscore the significant impact of microfinance funding on MSMEs in the Johan Pahlawan district, as indicated by the study's outcomes. This research contributes to the understanding of the role of microfinance in fostering the growth of MSMEs and the overall economic development in the region.

Abstract

In the analysis of the financial conditions of Aceh Barat Regency, it is revealed that a significant dependency on Central Transfers, particularly through the General Allocation Fund (DAU) and Special Allocation Fund (DAK), creates challenges in achieving stable financial independence. Although Regional Original Income (PAD), such as local taxes and regional levies, contributes, the fluctuations indicate complexity and risks in achieving financial balance. Diversification of income sources becomes a primary focus to address dependence on natural resources and the fisheries sector, as well as external fluctuations. Optimization of local taxes, levies, and tourism sector development emerges as key strategies to strengthen Regional Original Income. Additionally, the analysis of the Regional Financial Efficiency Ratio (REKD) indicates characteristics of inefficiency during the period 2011-2022, indicating the need for improvements in budget management and revenue collection. The Harmony Ratio, depicting an increase in Operational Expenditure and a tendency of decreasing Capital Expenditure, highlights the need to achieve a better balance between long-term investments and operational aspects. Therefore, Aceh Barat Regency needs to take proactive steps to enhance financial efficiency, diversify income, and allocate funds wisely to achieve sustainable and financially stable economic growth.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to ascertain the impact of banking zakat and corporate social responsibility (CSR) on financial performance. The study employed a purposive sampling technique, specifically utilizing financial reports and annual zakat transactions data from PT. Puduarta Insani Tembung for the period of 2018-2022. The research employs many data analysis techniques, including descriptive statistical analysis, classical assumption test, multiple linear regression analysis, t test, f test, and coefficient of determination test. The findings from the multiple linear regression analysis indicate that partially zakat has a favorable, albeit statistically insignificant impact on financial success. On the other hand, corporate social responsibility (CSR) has a considerable influence on financial performance. The findings demonstrate that both zakat and corporate social responsibility (CSR) have a simultaneous impact on financial performance. The coefficient of determination test reveals that zakat and corporate social responsibility (CSR) have a 32.2% impact on financial performance.

Abstract

The Employment Social Security Organizing Agency (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan) is a legal institution that provides social security to workers who have fixed wages, and also provides assistance to non-wage workers such as fishermen, laborers, and even traders. One of the BPJS Employment branches that provides protection for the informal sector is the Meulaboh BPJS Employment Branch. This is important because in Meulaboh, many people work in the informal sector. The purpose of this research is to analyze how the Meulaboh BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Branch works to increase the number of workers in the informal sector in Meulaboh City, West Aceh. This research uses a qualitative method that describes and explains the situation based on the object of research analyzed by checking the truth of the information obtained from the field. The data used is primary data, which is collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that the participation of non-wage workers in the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan program is still low in the informal sector, and many are not registered. This is a problem because in West Aceh there are more workers in the informal sector compared to the formal sector. The lack of protection from labor social security causes unprotected informal workers to immediately get protection from BPJS Employment.

Abstract

This article aims to investigate the effectiveness of village fund management in enhancing both physical and non-physical development in Patiluban Hillir Village, Natal District, Mandailing Natal Regency. This research employs a qualitative study design with a qualitative descriptive data approach. The data collection technique employed in this research is purposive sampling, involving 5 individuals designated as research subjects. Data gathering is conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research findings indicate that: (1) Village fund management in Patiluban Hillir involves a fund allocation of 766 million in 2021, distributed across various sectors such as natural disaster mitigation, empowerment, community welfare, and development. However, the process of fund allocation lacks transparency, as the community is only informed of the total amount of village funds obtained without knowledge of the specific sectors it will be allocated to. Additionally, there is a lack of enthusiasm among the community members, leading to low participation during village deliberations and activities. (2) Development in Patiluban Hillir Village in 2021 prioritizes non-physical aspects, particularly focusing on natural disaster management such as flood and Covid-19. Meanwhile, in non-physical development, the government will undertake community awareness campaigns.

Abstract

This study analyzes natural resource management in Langkat Regency and its impact on the local economy. Using qualitative and quantitative approaches, this study evaluates the implementation of regulations, environmental impacts, distribution of economic benefits, and public perception of natural resource management. The results show that although the mining and plantation sectors contribute significantly to Regional Original Revenue (PAD), economic benefits are not evenly distributed, and many local communities experience a decline in welfare. Intensive exploitation of natural resources has led to significant environmental damage, such as deforestation and water pollution, disrupting the balance of local ecosystems. Weak regulatory implementation and lack of community participation in natural resource management exacerbate this situation. This research suggests improvements in supervision, increased community participation, adoption of environmentally friendly technologies, and policy revisions to achieve more sustainable and equitable management of natural resources. With these steps, it is hoped that Langkat Regency can improve the welfare of the local community more evenly and preserve the environment for future generations.

Abstract

This study explores efforts to optimize tourism potential to improve the regional economy in Langkat Regency, North Sumatra. With abundant natural and cultural potential, such as Gunung Leuser National Park and Bukit Lawang, Langkat has a great opportunity to develop as a leading tourist destination. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach, involving in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation analysis. The results of the study show that, despite having great potential, Langkat Regency still faces various challenges, including limited infrastructure, lack of tourism promotion, and low local community participation. Inadequate infrastructure is the main obstacle in tourism development, while limited promotion results in low awareness of tourists' tourism potential. The active participation of local communities needs to be increased through empowerment and education, so that the economic benefits of tourism can be felt equally. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of careful planning, infrastructure improvement, and effective promotion strategies to optimize the tourism potential of Langkat, which in turn can encourage sustainable regional economic growth.
