Abstract

Background. The study aims to determine the effect of the use of various types of milk on syneresis, water holding capacity and viscosity of kefir. Materials and methods. The materials used were 2 liters of fresh cow's milk, 2 liters of low fat milk, 2 liters of full fat milk, 2 liters of fresh goat's milk, 2 liters of mixed milk and kefir grains (2% per 1 liter of milk). (CRD) and data analysis using ANOVA which was carried out by further testing using the BNJ follow-up test. Completely Randomized Design consisting of 5 treatments and 4 replications, each replication using 500 ml of milk. Different treatments using milk using kefir grain starter included P1 (cow's milk). fresh), P2 (full fat commercial milk), P3 (low fat commercial milk), P4 (fresh goat's milk) and P5 (a mixture of fresh cow's milk and fresh goat's milk). Results. The results of the analysis of variance showed that there was a very significant effect (P<0, 01) on the value of syneresis, water holding capacity and viscosity of kefir. Conclusion. The average result of the research obtained that the syneresis of kefir ranged from 29,005-64,345%, WHC ranged from 36-89,45%, and viscosity ranged from 6 7.7-422.15 cP. It was concluded that kefir produced using various types of milk using a kefir grain starter resulted in different syneresis, water holding capacity and viscosity. Fullfat milk produces the best quality kefir and fresh cow's milk produces low quality kefir.

Abstract

Background. The research entitled "Comparative Study of Broiler Chicken Carcass Sales and Prices Before and During Covid-19 at the People's Market of Kebumen Regency (Case Study at Tumenggungan Market)" was carried out on March 15 - April 25, 2021, at Tumenggungan Market, Kebumen Regency. This study aims to determine the average number of sales and the average price of broiler carcasses before and during covid-19 and to determine the difference between the average number of sales and the average price of broiler carcasses before and during covid-19. Methods. The method used is a survey method, the determination of the sample area by purposive sampling by selecting market type A with the largest population of broiler carcass traders and obtained Tumenggungan market, Kebumen Regency with 38 respondents. The analytical method used is descriptive analysis and t-test. Results. The results showed that there was a decrease in the average number of broiler carcass sales and a change in broiler carcass prices before and during covid-19. The average number of broiler carcass sales before covid-19 was 27,2 kg/day and during Covid-19 it was 2,1 kg/day. The average price of broiler chicken carcasses before Covid-19 was IDR 31,500 and during covid-19 the price was in the range of IDR 30.000-IDR 32.000. Conclusion. The results of the t-test showed that there was a significant difference between the average number of sales and the average price of broiler carcasses before and during covid-19.

Abstract

Background. The purpose of the study is to determine the amount of investment, operational costs, and get the revenue for broiler rabbit business. To analyze the economic performance of the broiler rabbit business in terms of income and business efficiency. Knowing the effect of independent variables such as number of the ownership (X1), length of rearing (X2), the education of the breeder (X3), the number of family members (X4) and the type of rabbit (D) on the dependent variable, the income (Y1) and for the business efficiency as well (Y2). Materials and methods The target of this research is for the broiler rabbit breeders and the businessman as well in Baturraden District, Banyumas Regency. The location of the research was selected by using the technique of purposive sampling. The determination of the corespondents is done by Quota Sampling and there were 30 farmers selected. The data that has taken is the data for the last one year. The primary data was obtained by doing the observations and doing an interview to the farmers by using a list of questions, while the secondary data was obtained from the Central Statistics Agency of Banyumas Regency (2020). The analysist coefficient for determination shows the effect of the independent variable (X) on income (Y1) and business efficiency (Y2), respectively 76,7% and 24,5%. Results. The results of the F test, the independent variable (X) has a very significant effect on income (Y1), while the business efficiency (Y2) has no significant effect. The results of the t-test on income (Y1) is influenced by the number of the ownership (X1) and length of rearing (X2), while business efficiency (Y2) is influenced by the number of ownership (X1). Conclusion. The multiple linear regression equation systematically obtained is the income (Y1) = -1900,069 + 25,706X1 - 710,558X2 - 89,004X3 + 754,036X4 + 1398,153D + 7296,937 and the business efficiency (Y2) = 0,783 + 0,001X1 - 0,014X2 + 0,024X3 + 0,025X4 - 0,075D + 0,289.

Abstract

Background. This study aims to examine the effect of using pineapple leaf waste silage as a substitute for elephant grass based on levels of Nitrogen-ammonia (N-NH3) and Volatile Fatty Acid (VFA) concentration in total rumen fluid of beef cattle in vitro. The research was conducted from August 25 to September 20, 2022 at the Laboratory of Nutrition and Animal Feed Science, Faculty of Animal Science, Jenderal Sudirman University, Purwokerto. Materials and methods. The study using an in vitro method with a completely randomized design, 5 treatments and each treatment was repeated 4 times so that there were 20 research units. The treatments used consisted of P0 (60% concentrate + 40% elephant grass), P1 (60% concentrate + 30% elephant grass + 10% pineapple leaf silage), P2 (60% concentrate + 20% elephant grass + 20% pineapple leaf silage), P3 (60% concentrate + 10% elephant grass + 30% pineapple leaf silage), and P4 (60% concentrate and 40% pineapple leaf silage). Results. The results showed that the treatment had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the levels of N-NH3 and the concentration of VFA. Conclusion. It was concluded that the use of pineapple leaf silage at a balance of 40% elephant grass and 60% concentrate could replace elephant grass in beef cattle feed up to 100% based on in vitro measurements of N-NH3 levels and total VFA concentrations.

Abstract

Background. The research entitled "Effect of Combination of Manure and NPK on Crude Protein Content and Crude Fiber of Odot Grass (Pennisetum Purpureum Cv. Mott) First Defoliation" was carried out from 17 February to 10 May 2018 at Experimental Farm and Agrostology Laboratory, Faculty of Animal Science, Jenderal Soedirman University, Purwokerto. The research objective was to examine the effect of giving the optimum combination of manure and NPK levels in terms of crude protein content and crude fiber content of odot grass. Materials and methods. The material used in the study was the first defoliated of Odot grass plant which was initially planted on a total area of 278 m2 with an area of 5 m2 for each plot or unit and a spacing of 0.75 mx 0.35 m so that 720 stems of odot grass cuttings were needed, 270 kg of manure and 2.5 kg of NPK fertilizer. The method used was a factorial pattern experiment with a randomized block design. The first factor was manure consisting of K0: manure 0 kg / 5m2, K 1: manure 7.5 kg / 5m2, K2: manure 15 kg / 5m2 and the second factor is NPK fertilizer (M) which consists of M0 : NPK fertilizer 0 g / 5m2, M1: NPK fertilizer 37.5 g / 5m2, M2: NPK fertilizer 75 g / 5m2 and M3: NPK fertilizer 112.5 g / 5m2. The variables measured were crude protein content and crude fat content of the first defoliated Odot grass. Results. The results of the analysis of variance showed that the interaction between manure and NPK did not have a significant effect on crude protein content but had a very significant effect on crude fiber content. The higher the level of manure and NPK will increase the crude protein content and crude fiber of the first defoliated Odot grass.

Abstract

Background. Trend of Slaughter and Production of Beef Cattle in Banyumas Regency. The purpose of this research is to know the development of beef cattle population in Banyumas Regency, to know the trend of slaughtering beef cattle in Banyumas Regency from 2011 to 2020, to know the trend of beef production (supply) in Banyumas Regency for the last 10 years from 2011 to 2020. Material and Methods. The sampling method was carried out by taking data in Banyumas Regency through the Central Bureau of Statistics of Banyumas Regency and the Central Statistics Agency of Central Java Province. The data observed were the dependent variable in the form of population trend data (Y1) and beef beef production trend data (Y2) in Banyumas Regency and the independent variable in the form of year (X) for the last 10 years from 2011 to 2020. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive analysis and simple statistics to provide an overview of the number and average population and beef cattle production and the data were also analyzed using simple linear regression to determine the trend of production and population trends. Result. The results of the analysis of beef cattle population trends show the equation Y1 = 17779 -735.41x and (R2) is 0.6843. The value of the coefficient of determination (R2) is 0.6843, meaning that the variance of the dependent variable can be explained by the independent variable of 68.43% percent. The results of the analysis of meat production trends show the equation Y1 = 4,976,301.07 - 285,084.61x and (R2) is 0.7907. The value of the coefficient of determination (R2) is 0.7907, meaning that the variance of the dependent variable can be explained by the independent variable of 79.07% percent. Conclusion. the analysis show that the average of beef cattle is 137,342 heads and the average production is 34,083,357 kg over the last 10 years.

Abstract

Latar belakang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari tingkat prolifikasi terhadap kadar hematologis pada domba Batur yang meliputi kadar eritrosit, leukosit, dan hemoglobin. Materi dan metode. Materi penelitian menggunakan 20 ekor induk domba Batur dengan minimal paritas sebanyak 2 kali dan rata-rata berumur 3 tahun kemudian dikelompokkan kedalam dua kelompok masing-masing terdiri atas 10 ekor. Peubah pertama yaitu prolifikasi rendah (P1) dengan catatan Jumlah Anak Sekelahiran (JAS) 1 dan peubah kedua yaitu prolifikasi tinggi (P2) dengan catatan JAS ? 2. Pengelompokkan dilakukan berdasarkan hasil wawancara dengan peternak terkait riwayat reproduksinya. Pengambilan sampel darah sebanyak 1-2 ml melalui vena jugularis dan dituangkan ke dalam vacuum tube EDTA kemudian disimpan di dalam ice box untuk mencegah adanya kerusakan dan penjendalan pada sel-sel darah. Pemeriksaan kadar hematologis dilakukan menggunakan hematology analyzer. Data diolah dengan menggunakan t-test unequal. Hasil. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada perbedaan signifikan (P>0,05) dari tingkat prolifikasi terhadap kadar eritrosit dan kadar hemoglobin, namun berbeda signifikan (P<0,05) terhadap kadar leukosit pada domba Batur. Simpulan. Disimpulkan bahwa kadar eritrosit dan hemoglobin relatif sama antar tingkat prolifikasi, namun kadar leukosit pada prolifik rendah nyata lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan prolifik tinggi pada domba Batur.

Abstract

Background. The research objective was to assess The Addition of an Acidifier in Feed Containing Probiotics of Egg Index and Egg Mass of Sentul Chickens. Materials and Methods. The material used was 60 female sentul chickens aged 5 months, with 4 treatments, 5 repetitions, and each experimental unit consists of 3 chicken. Treatment: R0 = basal feed; R1 = basal feed + probiotic with lactic acid acidifier 0.5%; R2 = basal feed + probiotic with lactic acid acidifier 1.0%; R3 = basal feed + probiotic with lactic acid acidifier 1.5%. Design with CRD (completely randomized design) and data analysis using ANOVA. Results. The results of the analysis of variance showed that the treatment had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on egg index and egg mass of Sentul chicken. Conclusion. It was concluded that the addition of lactic acid as an acidifier in feed containing probiotics up to a level 1,5% was not able to improve the quality of egg index and egg mass of Sentul chickens.
