Abstract

Agriculture in Karangagung Village, Glagah District, Lamongan Regency is a crucial element in the rural economic system, serving as a pillar of daily life. However, agricultural practices often have negative environmental impacts, such as soil degradation, declining water quality, and ecosystem imbalances. From the perspective of Islamic economics, agricultural activities should not only focus on production and financial profit but must also be based on ethics and responsibility for environmental sustainability. This study aims to explore how agricultural activities affect environmental balance by referring to Islamic economic principles. The research is qualitative-descriptive and based on academic literature discussing agriculture, ecology, and Islamic concepts such as mīzān (balance), istikhlāf (the role of a steward), and the prohibition of fasād (destruction). The theoretical findings indicate that applying these principles can serve as a moral and spiritual foundation for developing an agricultural system that is not only productive but also environmentally sustainable. This approach contributes to increasing ecological awareness so that agricultural practices align with Islamic values and support ecosystem sustainability.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to improve the quality of Quranic learning through the GENTA (Generasi Cinta Al-Qur'an / Generation of Quranic Love) program at MDTU Alluthfiah, Sukadamai Village, Sukamakmur District, Bogor Regency. The program was implemented by KKN students from STIT Fatahillah through a structured coaching approach in Tahsin Tajwid learning, covering the introduction of makharijul huruf (articulation points), letter characteristics, and the rules of tajwid. A qualitative method with a phenomenological approach was employed, utilizing observation, interviews, surveys, and data analysis. The program was carried out in accordance with the POAC management functions (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, Controlling), with talaqqi and musyafahah as the primary instructional methods. The results indicate a significant improvement in children's Quranic recitation, particularly in the aspects of makhraj, tajwid application, and reading fluency. Furthermore, the program successfully fostered motivation, discipline, and a deep love for the Quran among the participants. The main challenge encountered was the inconsistency of student attendance, attributed to unfavorable weather conditions and insufficient parental supervision. Overall, the GENTA program has made a positive contribution to strengthening children's spiritual foundation and enhancing the quality of learning management at MDTU Alluthfiah.

Abstract

This study investigated the effectiveness of Social Studies teaching methods in promoting democratic participation among Upper Basic School students in Zamfara State, Nigeria. Guided by a descriptive survey design, data were collected from 349 students drawn from ten randomly selected schools across the state. A structured questionnaire, validated by experts and tested for reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.803), served as the instrument for data collection. Descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (one-sample t-test) were employed to analyze the data. Findings revealed that Social Studies teaching methods were generally effective in fostering democratic participation, with a cumulative mean of 2.72, above the decision benchmark of 2.50. Students identified interactive discussions, debates, and cooperative learning as the most impactful strategies for enhancing civic knowledge, tolerance, and participatory skills. However, the study also noted weaknesses in linking classroom learning to real-life civic practices, as activities such as community service, simulations, and civic projects received lower ratings. The one-sample t-test confirmed a significant difference in students’ views (t = 197.188, df = 348, p < .05), leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis. This underscores that Social Studies teaching methods play a meaningful role in cultivating democratic values among students in Zamfara State. The study concludes that while these methods are effective, their sustainability requires ongoing teacher training, integration of technology, and policy support to ensure stronger connections between classroom instruction and civic engagement.
Climate Justice and Indigenous Rights in India: A Subaltern Perspective on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Dipak Ghosh

Abstract

This paper explores the intersections of climate justice and Indigenous rights in India through a subaltern perspective, with specific attention to the promises and limitations of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Indigenous communities, particularly Adivasis, face disproportionate impacts of climate change due to their dependence on natural resources, socio-economic marginalization and historical dispossession. While global frameworks such as the SDGs emphasize inclusivity and sustainability, their implementation in India often reinforces growth-oriented models that neglect the voices of marginalized groups. Drawing on Indian scholarship and policy analyses, the paper highlights how subaltern perspectives challenge dominant narratives by foregrounding the lived experiences, epistemologies and struggles of Indigenous peoples. It critically examines the role of legal safeguards such as the Forest Rights Act (2006) and PESA (1996), revealing the gap between progressive legislation and weak enforcement. The analysis also identifies structural inequalities, exclusionary governance and epistemic marginalization as barriers to justice. At the same time, it argues for a more just and inclusive framework that integrates Indigenous ecological knowledge, strengthens participatory governance and rethinks development priorities. The paper concludes that achieving climate justice in India requires not only technical adaptation strategies but also structural transformation in development planning, where Indigenous communities are recognized as active agents of sustainability rather than passive recipients of policy.

Abstract

The development of tourism villages based on local potential requires strategies that integrate cultural preservation and community economic empowerment. Pranan Village, located in Polokarto District, Sukoharjo Regency, possesses strong cultural assets and guava commodities that have become the village identity through the annual Pranan Guava Festival. However, documentation and digital exposure of these potentials have not been systematically managed, limiting promotional outreach. This community service program aims to implement the digitalization of traditions as an effort to strengthen Pranan Village’s identity toward becoming a sustainable tourism village. The method applied was a participatory approach involving potential mapping, data collection and documentation, digital archiving of cultural assets, development of promotional narratives, and evaluation with village authorities and the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis). The results indicate the establishment of structured digital archives consisting of photos, videos, and village historical narratives that serve as promotional media and supporting documents for tourism village proposals. The digitalization process also reinforces the branding of “Pranan Kampung Jambu” and enhances the village’s readiness for community-based tourism development. This program demonstrates that integrating cultural preservation with digital transformation can be an effective strategy in achieving adaptive and sustainable rural tourism development.

Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease with an increasing prevalence and remains a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. Low public awareness of routine blood pressure monitoring leads to many undetected cases of hypertension. This community service activity aimed to improve community knowledge and skills in independently measuring blood pressure through hypertension education and digital blood pressure monitor training. The activity was conducted in Bandung Village, Konang District, Bangkalan Regency, involving 43 participants consisting of adults and elderly residents. The methods included lectures, question-and-answer discussions, demonstrations, simulation of blood pressure monitor use, and the establishment of an Independent Blood Pressure Post. The results showed that before the training, some participants did not fully understand the correct use of the blood pressure monitor. After education and simulation, all participants were able to independently perform blood pressure measurements correctly. This activity proved effective in improving community knowledge and skills as an early detection and prevention effort for hypertension complications.

Abstract

This article examines the relationship between Protestant Christian teachings and the principles of ecology and environmental preservation. This study aims to uncover the theological basis for human responsibility towards creation and to identify how faith values can be applied in everyday life to preserve the environment. The method used is a literature study by examining Bible verses, theological views, and scientific literature related to the environment. The results of the discussion indicate that Protestant Christian teachings position humans as managers and guardians of creation, not the absolute owners of nature. Environmental preservation is not only a social obligation but also a manifestation of obedience to God. The implications of this study indicate that religious education can be an effective means of instilling ecological awareness in the younger generation.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Sharia-based empowerment model for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) using an integrative participatory approach. MSMEs play a vital role in the Indonesian economy but continue to face obstacles such as limited access to financing and low financial literacy. Through a synthesis of systematic literature reviews and document content analysis, this study formulates a comprehensive and practically relevant empowerment model. The model rests on four main pillars: (1) the provision of inclusive and sustainable Sharia financing through contracts such as *murabahah*, *mudharabah*, and *musyarakah*; (2) the integration of Islamic social funds (*zakat*, *infaq*, *sadaqah*, and *waqf*) as funding sources and catalysts for empowerment; (3) capacity building and the enhancement of Sharia financial literacy for MSME players through training and mentoring; and (4) an integrative participatory approach involving collaboration among the government, Sharia financial institutions, *zakat* institutions, academics, and the MSME community. The results indicate that implementing this model holds great potential to support MSME growth that is equitable, sustainable, and aligned with Islamic values. However, key challenges—such as low Sharia financial literacy and the limited reach of Sharia financial institutions—must be addressed through collaborative and innovative strategies. This research contributes theoretically to the development of Sharia economic literature and practically to stakeholders in designing more effective MSME empowerment policies and programs.

Abstract

Environmental issues have become one of the global challenges that require attention from all levels of society, including university students. From a Christian perspective, caring for the environment is not only a social responsibility but also a manifestation of faith in God as the Creator of the universe. This study aims to examine the implementation of Christian stewardship principles in fostering an environmentally conscious culture among students. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method using interviews, observation, and documentation as data collection techniques. The subject of this study was a student from the History Education Study Program, Faculty of Social Sciences, Universitas Negeri Medan. The findings indicate that the respondent has a good understanding of stewardship as a responsibility entrusted by God to humanity to care for and preserve creation. This understanding is reflected in daily practices such as maintaining cleanliness, disposing of waste properly, conserving water and electricity, and reducing the use of single-use plastics. The study concludes that stewardship plays an important role in shaping environmentally responsible behavior among students. Therefore, Christian religious education should continue to strengthen stewardship values in order to encourage sustainable environmental awareness.
