Abstract

MuaroxJambi District is the district in Jambi Province with the largest burned area among the districts/cities affected by forest and land fires in the last eight years. The high incidence of forest and land fires will affect thexamount of land cover. The high incidence of forestxand land fires will affect the amount of land cover in the affected areas. The higher the number of forest and land fires in the area, the more the amount of land cover loss will increase. This study aims to analyze land cover changes in Muaro Jambi Regency between 2018 and 2023 usingxthe Random Forest classification algorithm on Landsat 8 OLI satellite images through the Google Earth Engine platform. Significant land use changes, such as conversion of forests and shrubs to plantations and built-up land, were observed through remote sensing-based spatial analysis.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease characterised by hyperglycaemia due to impaired insulin secretion or action. Conventional therapies often cause side effects and limited long-term efficacy, thus encouraging the exploration of alternative therapies based on natural compounds. Cinnamon (Cinnamomum spp.) has been empirically known to have antidiabetic effects, mainly through the content of bioactive compounds such as cinnamaldehyde, eugenol, cinnamic acid, coumarin, and proanthocyanidin.

Abstract

The utilization of oil palm fronds for producing biopots as a substitute for plastic pots is expected to help reduce plastic waste and minimize palm frond waste by creating a useful product. Biopots are made from organic materials such as oil palm fronds, combined with natural binders like tapioca flour and sago flour, which are biodegradable. The biopot production process includes several stages: raw material preparation, mixing, molding, drying, and testing. The testing process involves measuring moisture content, water absorption capacity, and pH levels. The biopots were made using oil palm fronds with five different treatments based on the composition of binder usage, namely 25, 20, 15, 10, and 5 grams. The best result was obtained from the biopot using 25 grams of tapioca flour binder in treatment P1, which had a moisture content of 9.92%, water absorption of 195.85%, and a pH of 6.2.

Abstract

Shortening is a plastic fat that can be used as a medium for making bread and fillers in confectionery products, shortening functions to improve taste, structure, texture and increase the volume of bakery products. Initially, shortening was made from animal fat, but now it is switching to using vegetable oil through a process of hydrogenation, interesterification and mixing of 2 or more oils/fats (blending). This study aims to determine the process of making shortening, by looking at the effect of the comparison WIJEN:RPO on the quality of shortening. Shortening is made using the blending method by mixing the oil phase with variations in the WIJEN:RPO ratio used are 100:0, 80:20, 60:40, 40:60, 20:80. Shortening with quality close to the best results from a variable rasio of 100:0. The quality of the shortening produces has a water content of 0,016, a free fatty acid content of 0,54%, for the organoleptic test itself includes color, taste and aroma, the respective percentage are : color 100%, taste 0%, and aroma 28%.

Abstract

Energy demand in the world, especially Indonesia, continues to increase, while the supply of fossil fuels is decreasing. Alternative energy can be created through outputs from agricultural products, both in the form of cultivated plants, as well as those sourced from agricultural residues (biomass) which do have a fairly high sustainability value. Palm fronds are one of the biomass wastes produced from the palm oil industry, containing cellulose and other substances that can be utilised as a source of energy, by processing them into briquettes. Coconut shells also contain cellulose and substances that can be utilised as one of the energy sources that can be processed into briquettes. This study aims to determine the process of making briquettes, knowing the effect of variations in the percentage of adhesive on the briquettes produced, knowing whether the products produced are in accordance with SNI. The research stage consists of: preparation of raw materials, charring, mixing adhesives, printing, and drying briquettes. Variations in the percentage of adhesive used are 15%, 20%, 25%.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the utilization of information technology in improving administrative services at the Ilir Barat Dua Sub-district Office in Palembang City. The implementation of information technology in government administration has become an essential requirement in the digitalization era in accordance with Presidential Regulation Number 95 of 2018 concerning Electronic-Based Government Systems. The research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of literature studies, observations, and interviews. The results show that the utilization of information technology at the Ilir Barat Dua Sub-district Office has shown significant progress in administrative service aspects, although challenges still exist in terms of human resource competencies and supporting infrastructure. Based on these findings, this study recommends intensification of office application training programs and administrative information systems for village apparatus as well as improving the quality of information technology infrastructure to ensure effective services to the community.

Abstract

Rapid urbanization in Indonesia presents various environmental and social challenges, including increased disaster risk, urban heat island effects, and social disparities in urban settlements. This study examines the role of green infrastructure, sustainable spatial planning, and risk mitigation policies in addressing the adverse impacts of urban growth. Utilizing a literature review and spatial data analysis, findings indicate that implementing sustainable development strategies and integrating disaster risk data into urban planning can enhance urban resilience and improve the quality of life for city residents. The study emphasizes the importance of collaboration among government, communities, and stakeholders to achieve inclusive, environmentally friendly, and climate-adaptive urban development.

Abstract

Ipomoea reptans (kangkung) is a vegetable that serves as a source of vitamin A, minerals, and other essential nutrients beneficial to human health. One method to increase the yield of Ipomoea reptans is through fertilization. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different Ponska fertilizer doses on the growth and yield of Ipomoea reptans. The research employed a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with a single factor, namely the dose of Ponska fertilizer. The treatments consisted of five fertilizer levels, D0 = 0 g/plant or 0 kg/ha, D1 = 10 g/plant or 416 kg/ha, D2 = 20 g/plant or 834 kg/ha, D3 = 30 g/plant or 1,250 kg/ha, and D4 = 40 g/plant or 1,666 kg/ha. Observed variables included plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, root weight, fresh weight, and dry weight of the plant.

Abstract

This research aims to find out and describe the strategy of correctional institutions in dealing with violations of rules and regulations by inmates at Lapas IIB Lhoksukon along with the obstacles and efforts. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods, obtaining data using observation, documentation and interview techniques. This research uses a purposive sampling technique to determine informants. The results of the research show that the strategy of correctional institutions in dealing with violations of rules and regulations by inmates at the IIB Lhoksukon Prison is in a persuasive way, namely consistently appealing to and informing inmates about the rules and regulations that apply in the prison and their consequences and carrying out activities to foster religious awareness and legal awareness as well as mental development. . The second method, namely repressive, means imposing disciplinary penalties on inmates who deliberately violate the rules and regulations in prison. Also carry out close supervision of all inmates who deliberately violate the rules and regulations in force in prison.

Abstract

A bathymetric survey is an activity aimed at depicting the depth contour lines of a water body, encompassing measurement, data processing, and visualization stages. Conducting a bathymetric survey in shallow waters, such as reservoirs, estuaries, lakes, dams, or sedimentation areas, often presents challenges when using large vessels. One of the technologies for performing bathymetric surveys in shallow waters is the use of an Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV), which facilitates data collection while offering flexibility, efficiency, and effectiveness. The study aims to produce a bathymetric map from bathymetric measurement data using a USV (Unmanned Surface Vehicle) corrected with real-time tidal data and to determine the data quality order according to the IHO (International Hydrographic Organization) S44 Edition-6 Standard of 2022.
