Abstract

The phenomenon of fatherlessness is the absence of a father's role in a child's life, whether physically, psychologically, or economically. This phenomenon is increasingly evident in various regions, including Probolinggo Regency, and has a direct impact on the fulfillment of children's rights, particularly the right to maintenance. This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of fatherlessness in Probolinggo through the perspective of islamic jurisprudence schools of thought regarding the obligation to provide maintenance and the relationship between them in islamic family law. The research method used is qualitative research with a normative-juridical and sociological approach, through a review of classical and contemporary islamic jurisprudence literature and an analysis of the social context of the community. The results show that all schools of thought agree on the father's obligation to provide maintenance to children, although there are differences in technical aspects and the conditions under which this obligation falls. These differing views have implications for family law relations, particularly in efforts to protect children's rights in cases of fatherlessness. This research is expected to contribute academically to the development of Islamic family law studies and serve as a reference in responding to the phenomenon of fatherlessness in society

Abstract

The development of social media has transformed the relationship between Muslim communities and Islamic legal authority, shifting from a centralized model centered on ulama and fatwa institutions toward an algorithm-based digital ecosystem. This study analyzes the reconfiguration of Islamic legal authority through the interaction between institutional ijtihad and algorithmic authority, as well as its implications for legal and social-cultural change. Employing normative legal research with a conceptual approach and socio-legal perspective, data were obtained through literature review and analyzed qualitatively using content analysis. The findings indicate that social media has driven a shift in the legitimacy structure of fatwas, which no longer depend solely on scholarly chains of transmission (sanad) but also on digital visibility shaped by algorithms. The relationship between the two is co-existential and complementary ijtihad serves as the normative source, while algorithms determine the reach and social acceptance of fatwas. From a socio-legal perspective, this transformation implies the pluralization of authority sources, increased public participation, and the growing influence of digital technology in shaping trust in Islamic law. This study offers the concept of platform-mediated religious authority as a model explaining that contemporary Islamic legal authority is formed through the interaction of normative legitimacy, platform-based digital distribution, and user participation in the digital public sphere

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of teachers at RA Roihanul Jannah in shaping Islamic character in early childhood. Early childhood education is a crucial phase in instilling fundamental Islamic values such as morality, discipline, responsibility, and worship habits. The research method used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that teachers have a strategic role as educators, role models, mentors, facilitators, and motivators in the process of character building. Teachers not only deliver learning materials but also instill Islamic values through daily habituation, such as collective prayers, worship practices, and polite behavior in social interactions. In addition, a conducive school environment and collaboration between teachers and parents support the success of children's character development. Learning processes integrated with Islamic values have proven effective in shaping positive behavior in children. Therefore, the role of teachers at RA Roihanul Jannah significantly influences the formation of Islamic character in early childhood in an optimal, directed, and sustainable manner in their daily lives

Abstract

Assessment in Arabic language learning today faces a fundamental problem, namely the mismatch between assessment instruments and the language competencies that should be measured. Evaluation practices still tend to be oriented toward cognitive-memorization aspects and have not fully accommodated language skills in an integrative manner. This condition raises academic concerns regarding the validity and accuracy of assessment results. This study aims to conceptually examine the role of item analysis and instrument validity in improving the quality of Arabic language assessment. The research method employs a qualitative approach with a literature study type through descriptive-critical analysis of various literatures related to Arabic language learning evaluation. The results show that the application of item analysis, which includes difficulty index, discriminating power, and distractor effectiveness, as well as testing the validity and reliability of instruments, contributes significantly to improving the quality of evaluation tools. Instruments that meet these principles are proven capable of measuring language competencies comprehensively, covering receptive and productive skills objectively, systematically, and accurately. The implications of this study affirm the importance of reconstructing the Arabic language assessment system based on a scientific and empirical approach to support the development of adaptive, communicative, and 21st-century needs-oriented learning

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of da'wah strategies in the mental recovery of online gambling victims at the Khalid bin Walid Islamic Rehabilitation Institute in Medan, focusing on the application of strategies, rehabilitation programs, and their impact on participants' mental and behavioral changes. Unlike previous studies that largely discussed drug rehabilitation, this research offers a da'wah-based rehabilitation model that integrates spiritual guidance, psychological counseling, and character building as a holistic approach to recovering online gambling victims. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation involving ustadz, coaches, and rehabilitation participants. The results show that da'wah strategies are implemented through daily worship habituation, Islamic studies, personal mentoring, and continuous supervision. The mental recovery program is carried out in stages through adaptation, worship guidance, addiction counseling, group therapy, and family relationship development. The implementation of this strategy has proven to increase spiritual awareness, self-control, discipline, and encourage positive behavioral changes among participants. Thus, da'wah-based rehabilitation with an integrative approach is effective in supporting the mental recovery of online gambling victims and can serve as an alternative model in addressing behavioral addiction in the digital era

Abstract

Da'wah planning is one of the functions of da'wah management that plays a role in planning, implementing, and evaluating da'wah activities so that the goals of fostering can be achieved effectively. This study aims to analyze the application of da'wah planning in shaping the religious character of children at the Muhammadiyah Men's Orphanage in Medan. The study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that da'wah planning is implemented through the stages of planning, program preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The fostering program includes tahsin, tahfidz, recitation of the Koran, kultum (sermons), adhan (call to prayer), and congregational prayer which are arranged according to the needs of the foster children. The implementation of activities is supported by the active role of the administrators, caregivers, and the religious environment of the orphanage, while obstacles faced come from differences in character, background, and psychological condition of the children. This study shows that da'wah planning has a positive impact on the formation of children's religious character, which is seen from increased discipline in worship, the ability to read the Qur'an, responsibility, independence, and self-confidence. Thus, da'wah planning is a crucial factor in fostering the religious character of children in orphanages

Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of understanding the balance between worship and work in Islam specifically based on Surah Al-Jumu’ah, verse 10 amidst the pressures of the digital economy faced by online motorcycle taxi drivers in Medan. The research aims to analyze the relevance of the concepts of rizq (divine provision) and the Islamic work ethic, as presented in the Al-Misbah exegesis, to the drivers' mindsets and mental resilience. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, utilizing interviews, observation, and documentation involving three informants. The findings reveal that drivers perceive work as an act of worship, integrating values such as tawakkul (reliance on God), amanah (trustworthiness), and dhikr (remembrance of God) into their daily activities, despite facing pressures from algorithms and market competition. Spiritual values were shown to help maintain work ethics and mental stability. In conclusion, Surah Al-Jumu’ah, verse 10, serves as an ethical foundation that fosters a balance between economic productivity and spirituality, ensuring that work is oriented not merely toward material gain but also toward divine blessing and the greater good of life

Abstract

This study examines Azyumardi Azra's political thought on the concept of the nation-state and its relevance in strengthening the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) from the perspective of Siyasah Dauliyah. This research is motivated by the ongoing debate over the relationship between Islam and the state, particularly the emergence of transnational movements that reject the nation-state system and propose the caliphate as the only legitimate political system in Islam, which threatens the legitimacy of Pancasila and NKRI amidst Indonesia's pluralistic society. Using a qualitative library research method with a descriptive-analytical approach and intellectual history perspective, primary data were obtained from Azra's major works on Islamic politics, democracy, and the relationship between Islam and the modern state. The findings indicate that Azra argues Islam does not prescribe any specific form of state; rather, it provides fundamental principles such as justice, deliberation (shūrā), equality, tolerance, and public welfare. Through a substantive approach to Islam, Azra views the modern nation-state as compatible with Islamic values as long as it promotes social justice, public welfare, and national unity. In the Indonesian context, Pancasila and NKRI are considered consistent with the universal values of Islam and possess historical, constitutional, and moral-religious legitimacy. Azra's thought is highly relevant for strengthening religious moderation, national integration, and resilience against transnational radicalism in Indonesia

Abstract

Discipline character formation is an essential component of pesantren education, particularly in responding to social changes and technological developments that influence students’ behavior. This study aims to analyze the role of teachers in shaping the disciplinary character of santri at Tanwirul Ulum Islamic Boarding School, Paleran, Umbulsari, Jember, through the perspective of Adab al-'Alim wa al-Muta'allim by KH. M. Hasyim Asy'ari. This study employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving pesantren administrators, teachers, santri, parents, and supporting staff. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with source and method triangulation employed to ensure data credibility. The findings indicate that teachers play a significant role in developing santri’s disciplinary character through exemplary conduct, habituation, supervision, and individualized guidance. The internalization of the values of Adab al-'Alim wa al-Muta'allim is reflected in the development of time discipline, eating etiquette, and sleep discipline. This character formation is supported by the pesantren’s regulatory system and family involvement, while the main challenges include overlapping activities, external environmental influences, mobile phone use, and peer habits. These findings demonstrate that the internalization of ethical values through teacher modeling and habituation can strengthen santri’s disciplinary character in a sustainable manner

Abstract

Studies examining snack repacking practices in traditional markets from the perspective of Islamic Economic Law, particularly in relation to consumer protection, remain limited. This study aims to examine the practice of snack repacking transactions in Baradatu Market, Way Kanan Regency, and to assess their compliance with the principles of Islamic Economic Law. This research employed a qualitative field research approach. Primary data were collected through interviews with five snack repacking traders, three shop owners, and seven consumers, while secondary data were obtained from relevant literature, legal regulations, and supporting documents. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation and analyzed using descriptive qualitative techniques. The findings indicate that snack repacking provides economic benefits for small-scale traders and improves consumers' access to affordable products. However, most repackaged products lack essential information, including expiration dates, ingredient composition, and producer identity. From the perspective of Islamic Economic Law, snack repacking is fundamentally permissible because it fulfills the essential elements and conditions of a valid sale contract. Nevertheless, incomplete product information may give rise to gharar (uncertainty) and tadlis (deceptive practices), indicating that the practice has not fully complied with the principles of amanah (trustworthiness), shiddiq (truthfulness), and consumer protection
