Abstract

Food crops are essential for ensuring food security and combating hunger.  Climate change has emerged as a significant obstacle that is impacting the long-term viability of the agricultural industry, particularly in relation to food crops. The objective of this study is to examine the influence of climate conditions on the efficiency of food crop production in Sumatra. This will be accomplished through the utilization of VAR and GLM models, in addition to the OSEMN framework. The VAR model study shows that wind speed has a statistically significant influence on peanut production (p-value 0.000563). Similarly, the GLM model analysis reveals that wind speed has a statistically significant impact on rice (p-value 0.00095) and maize (p-value 0.000686) productivity. Based on the MAPE metric, the GLM model demonstrates superior performance compared to the VAR model in accurately predicting soybean production with an accuracy rate of 9.05% and peanut productivity with an accuracy rate of 8.84%. This study aims to provide assistance in reducing the effects of climate change and adapting to them in the agricultural industry, while also improving the production of food crops.

Abstract

This study aims to predict the price of cayenne pepper in North Sumatra Province using the Simple Exponential Smoothing (SES) method with α = 0.2. The data used includes the price trend of cayenne pepper from January to July 2024, taken from Databoks and supported by BAPANAS (Badan Pangan Nasional). The analysis results show that the SES method can capture the upward trend in the price of cayenne pepper with a relatively high level of accuracy, indicated by the MAPE (Mean Absolute Percentage Error) value of 7.34%. The predicted average price of cayenne pepper on July 15, 2024 is estimated to reach Rp. 47,555.34. These findings suggest that the SES method is reliable for planning and decision-making regarding the price of cayenne pepper, although it is more sensitive to recent data. This research makes an important contribution to the government, farmers, and traders in dealing with fluctuations in agricultural commodity prices.

Abstract

In the digital era, digital learning platforms have become an essential tool in the educational process. However, the success of a platform is not only determined by the availability of content but also by a satisfying user experience. To achieve this, developers often adopt the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) strategy, which allows them to release a product with minimal features to quickly obtain user feedback. Meanwhile, the Design Thinking approach provides a framework for deeply understanding user needs. This paper combines these two approaches to designing the UI/UX for the digital learning platform "Mentor on Demand", focusing on an optimized user experience where the usability testing results are obtained with scores for Students = 6 and Mentors = 5.9 both getting Pass Results.

Abstract

This study aims to design a web-based Expert System that is able to diagnose post-harvest handling of oil palm using the Naive Bayes method. In addition, this study also aims to explore optimal harvesting and post-harvest handling management in order to produce high-quality oil yields. This study was conducted at PT Sawit Sukses Sejahtera, the location where the experts work. Data collection was carried out through interviews with experts related to post-harvest handling of oil palm fruit, as well as literature studies to obtain data relevant to the research topic. The Naive Bayes method is used based on the probability found in the post-harvest handling process of oil palm, while system development follows the ESDLC (Expert System Development Life Cycle) methodology, which is the basis for designing and developing expert systems.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a web-based Point of Sales (POS) system that can support online food ordering processes and computerized inventory management. The background of this research focuses on the importance of implementing technology in cafés, particularly in supporting business processes such as structured ordering systems, food stock management, and evaluating sales and food stock reports. The research methodology consists of a comprehensive analysis of the existing ordering system at Loving Nature Fortunate Coffee through visitor surveys, staff interviews, and direct observation of operational processes. The results of this research show that the implementation of a web-based Point of Sales (POS) system at Loving Nature Fortunate Coffee can increase the operational efficiency of the café and make business processes more structured and systematically recorded.

Abstract

This research aims to redesign and evaluate the usability of the SPADA website at Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) by applying Nielsen’s Poisson Model in usability testing. The primary objective is to enhance the website's interface for both new and returning users while reducing the number of respondents needed for usability tests without compromising the validity of the results. The research involves several prototype development iterations, each tested by different respondent groups. Results indicate significant improvements in user satisfaction and a reduction in task completion time with each iteration. Nielsen’s Poisson Model was effective in identifying usability issues, with major problems resolved in early iterations and minor ones discovered in later phases. The final prototype is expected to significantly improve the usability of the SPADA UNPRI website.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the performance of several programming languages, namely PHP, Java, and Python, in determining the primality of numbers using Fermat's Theorem. The selection of programming languages is based on their popularity and efficiency in cryptographic algorithm implementation. The method used is a comparative experiment, with measurement parameters including execution time, memory consumption, and result accuracy. The results show that Java excels in execution efficiency with the fastest time, while PHP demonstrates the lowest memory consumption. Although Python is slower, all three programming languages produced accurate results in primality testing. This research concludes that Java is the best choice for applications requiring high speed, while PHP is more suitable for resource-limited applications. Future research is recommended to test more programming languages and use a larger number dataset.

Abstract

This study examines audience responses to the educational program Clash of Champions produced by Ruangguru and inspired by the South Korean format University War. Through its interactive academic competition concept, Clash of Champions has succeeded in attracting public interest, triggering various reactions on social media, and providing a basis for conducting opinion studies to understand audience views. This study uses the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm to classify netizen comments on platform X (Twitter) into positive, negative, and neutral sentiments. The data processing process includes data collection through scraping, text preprocessing, and word weighting using the Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) algorithm. Model evaluation with accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score metrics shows various audience opinions, with the majority showing positive sentiments towards the educational innovation of the program. This model achieves an accuracy of 79%, precision of 79%, recall of 95%, and F1-score of 86% for the positive sentiment classification. This indicates a strong appreciation from the public for the educational value of this program. This study is expected to provide insight for educational content developers to create educational and interesting programs.

Abstract

Universitas Methodist Indonesia (UMI) faces various limitations in handling student complaints, which hinder the effectiveness of problem resolution. This research aims to build a web-based student complaint information system that can accommodate and manage student complaints quickly and efficiently. The observation method is used to observe the ongoing complaint process and interactions between students and the existing complaint system. Implementation of this system begins with the creation of a database designed to store and manage complaint data, user information and other important data. The system backend was developed using PHP to handle business logic, including complaint processing, user management, and interaction with the database. As a result, this system changes the complaint management process from previously manual to more efficient and computerized, so that students can easily submit complaints, monitor status, and view complaint history. This system also allows the campus to respond to complaints more quickly and effectively.
