Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of collage activities using coconut pulp as a learning medium to stimulate fine motor skills of early childhood students at RA Hasanah. The background of the research is the need for learning media that are inexpensive, easily obtained, environmentally friendly, and contextual. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach with primary data collected through observation and documentation, and secondary data obtained from relevant literature. Data analysis followed the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model, with data validity ensured through triangulation. The findings indicate that the use of coconut pulp in collage activities improved six indicators of fine motor skills, namely gripping and holding tools, finger-hand coordination, finger muscle strength, movement accuracy, task completion speed, and independence. Children were more focused and enthusiastic, producing neat and efficient works. Moreover, the activity positively affected socio-emotional aspects such as cooperation, appreciation of peers’ work, and self-confidence. The study recommends that early childhood teachers utilise environmentally friendly waste as creative media to train fine motor skills while instilling environmental awareness from an early age skills but also integrates environmental awareness values from an early age.

Abstract

As is well known, the implementation of collective worship in the school environment is still relatively minimal, especially in public schools such as Senior High Schools (SMA), compared to State Islamic Senior High Schools (MAN) which have a stronger religious content in their curriculum. This difference in institutional background also influences the extent to which interest in worship can be embedded in students' daily lives. Therefore, this study aims to determine the strategies of Islamic religious education teachers in motivating students to carry out worship at Harapan Mekar High School, Medan. The type of research used is qualitative research using a descriptive approach. The results of this study, Islamic Religious Education teachers found strategies that can increase students' interest in worship in the school environment. The main strategies identified include reminding students about prayer times, providing examples of good behavior, and providing encouragement and support. Supporting factors include a conducive environment and collaboration between teachers and students, while inhibiting factors consist of individual busyness and peer influence.

Abstract

Background: Patient safety is important to prioritize in surgical services. Surgical services are services in hospitals that often cause medical injuries and complications that can endanger lives, these incidents can be caused by unintentional events and conditions that result in or have the potential to result in injuries such as Adverse Events, Near Missing Events, Non-Injury Events and Potential Injury Events and sentinel events. Objective: To determine the Description of Nurses' Compliance Regarding the Surgical Safety Checklist in the Operating Room of Pemalang Islamic Hospital. Method: This study is a quantitative study with a descriptive method with 30 respondents using a total sampling technique. Results: Based on the analysis, it was found that in the application of the Surgical Safety Checklist, most respondents were categorized as compliant, namely 19 respondents (63.3%), and 11 respondents (36.7%) were categorized as non-compliant. Conclusion: Compliance with the application of the SSC (Surgical Safety Checklist) was mostly categorized as compliant.

Abstract

Arabic Language learning at Madrasah Aliyah level still faces various constraints, especially low student learning performance caused by lack of motivation, minimal vocabulary mastery, as well as teaching methods that tend to be monotonous and teacher-centered. Therefore, innovative learning strategies are required that suit the characteristics of 21st century students.This study aims to improve students’ Arabic Language learning activities and outcomes through the application of Canva’s media-assisted Team Games Tournament (TGT)-type cooperative learning model. The study used Classroom Action Research (CRA) method implemented in MA YPPA Cipulus on class X students numbering 35 people. Research was conducted in two cycles with planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. Data were collected through observation, testing learning outcomes, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted both qualitatively and quantitatively. The results of the study showed that the application of Canva-assisted TGT was able to increase students’ learning activity from 70% in cycle I to 93% in cycle II. Additionally, students’ learning outcomes also improved significantly, with the percentage of learning dropouts from 14% in pre-cycle, to 71% in cycle I, and reaching 91% in cycle II. Students’ mean scores increased from 43 in the pre-cycle, to 73 in cycle I, and 89 in cycle II.

Abstract

Globalization in the 21st century has significantly impacted language use in Indonesia, particularly through the dominance of English as the global lingua franca. This phenomenon provides broader access to knowledge and international communication but simultaneously poses serious challenges to the status and function of the Indonesian language. This study employs a qualitative approach based on literature review, using a sociolinguistic framework and critical discourse analysis. The findings reveal the emergence of over 1,100 new loanwords, a high prevalence of code-mixing among younger generations—reaching up to 80%—and a noticeable shift in language attitudes among university students and urban communities who increasingly favor foreign terms. These findings suggest that the influx of foreign languages not only enriches the lexicon but also potentially undermines the role of Indonesian as a symbol of national identity and a medium of academic discourse. Therefore, firm language policies, the development of relevant and adaptive terminology, and the cultivation of collective awareness are essential to ensure the sustainability and strengthening of the Indonesian language as both a unifying language and a language of knowledge in the era of globalization.

Abstract

Technical communication skills are an essential competency for civil engineering students, not only in academic contexts but also in professional practice in the field. This article aims to explore an interdisciplinary approach in developing technical communication skills of civil engineering students by emphasizing the connection between the classroom and the workplace. Through a literature review and critical analysis of various learning models such as project-based learning, cross-disciplinary collaborative approaches, and information technology integration, this study highlights effective strategies that can improve technical report writing, professional presentation, and collaborative communication skills in multidisciplinary teams. The results of the discussion indicate that the application of an interdisciplinary approach can narrow the gap between theory and practice, while strengthening students' readiness to face communication challenges in the complex world of construction. Thus, this article provides conceptual and practical contributions in designing a relevant and applicable technical communication learning model for civil engineering education in the modern era

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of using the Indonesian language on the clarity and accuracy of preparing practical work reports by students of the Civil Engineering Study Program at Universitas Negeri Medan. The main issue addressed is the low linguistic quality in practical reports, which potentially reduces reader comprehension in terms of sentence structure, word choice, and paragraph organization. The purpose of this research is to identify the extent to which the application of proper and correct Indonesian language principles affects readability, accuracy in conveying information, and the alignment of reports with academic standards in the field of civil engineering. The research employed a qualitative-descriptive approach by analyzing the content of 30 practical work reports written by students. The research instruments included language analysis guidelines and assessment criteria referring to the Indonesian Spelling System (Ejaan Bahasa Indonesia/EBI) and the framework of scientific writing. Data were analyzed through the stages of coding linguistic errors, evaluating content clarity, and assessing technical compliance. The findings affirm that adequate mastery of the Indonesian language is not merely a formality, but rather an essential element in scientific communication within the civil engineering sector.

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by elevated blood glucose levels due to insulin resistance. One effective therapeutic strategy is the inhibition of the ?-glucosidase enzyme, which plays a crucial role in carbohydrate breakdown into glucose. This study aims to review the potential of natural compounds as ?-glucosidase inhibitors for diabetes therapy through a molecular docking approach. Literature searches were conducted through PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar databases (2020–2025), and eight eligible articles were analyzed. The results revealed that orientin, vitexin, and reserpine from Sonneratia alba, pimaric acid from Michelia champaca, mimopudine from Mimosa pudica, apigenin from Psidium guajava, and spirost-8-en-11-one from Momordica charantia exhibited stronger binding affinities than acarbose. Their interactions with key catalytic residues (Asp215, Glu277, His351, and Asp542) indicate a strong inhibitory potential against ?-glucosidase. These findings suggest that flavonoids, alkaloids, and triterpenoids from medicinal plants possess significant potential as natural ?-glucosidase inhibitors that are safer and more effective. Further in vitro and in vivo studies are recommended to validate their pharmacological activity and safety prior to clinical application.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology, particularly social media, has brought significant changes in the use of everyday language. Language development today is progressing rapidly alongside the increasing use of social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Generation Z, as a generation that has grown up with the advancement of social media, has experienced a shift in language patterns in daily life. Based on this issue, the research raises the following problems: (a) How is slang used by Generation Z on TikTok? (b) How does the use of slang on TikTok influence the changes in Indonesian vocabulary among Generation Z? (c) What is the impact of slang use on TikTok toward the changes in Indonesian grammar among Generation Z? This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection methods include observation and literature review. The use of slang by Generation Z shows that social media plays a crucial role in shaping the communication patterns of young people. First, the use of slang on TikTok is not merely a spontaneous expression but also becomes part of Generation Z’s digital identity. Slang appears in the form of abbreviations, acronyms, borrowed foreign terms, and the creation of new vocabulary, all of which function to strengthen the sense of togetherness and solidarity among members of online communities.

Abstract

Alzheimer’s disease is a major neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive cognitive decline, memory loss, and behavioral impairment. A therapeutic approach widely employed is the inhibition of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) to sustain acetylcholine levels in the synaptic cleft. Alkaloids, abundantly found in medicinal plants, have demonstrated promising activity as AChE inhibitors. With advances in computational techniques, in silico methods including molecular docking, molecular dynamics (MD), density functional theory (DFT), and ADMET prediction are increasingly used to evaluate molecular interactions efficiently prior to in vitro or in vivo validation. This study aims to review the potential of alkaloids in inhibiting AChE through in silico approaches for Alzheimer’s therapy. A systematic literature review was conducted using PubMed, ScienceDirect, ResearchGate, and Google Scholar with structured keywords, covering publications from 2015 to 2025. Out of 15 identified studies, 10 were screened, and 5 met eligibility criteria. The findings indicate that key alkaloids such as berberine, palmatine, huperzine A, and biflavanone exhibited binding affinities comparable to or greater than standard ligands, with stable hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interactions at the catalytic active site (CAS) and peripheral anionic site (PAS) of AChE. Studies by Qi et al. (2022) and Rawat et al. (2024) confirmed these results through in vitro validation, while Guo et al. (2020) and Negru et al. (2025) reported favorable ADMET profiles supporting their pharmacokinetic feasibility. In conclusion, alkaloids represent strong candidates for Alzheimer’s therapy via AChE inhibition, and in silico strategies play a pivotal role in accelerating active compound screening and drug development efficiency.
